  • At 3:40, that short jam where the ambient guitars and bass shines through. i like that alot. Creates an atmosphere, and the scenes of the city with the lights go well

  • why is the video disturbing @phatie993

  • this video is disturbing... but i love the song :D

  • They stole or paid homage the premise of this video from Lacktherof's Ask Permission video. Can't post a link but look it up. Good group - it's the guy from Menomena which is a phenomenal group.

  • Honestly... A bit boring.

  • Muy buen video mi hermano, me pachkie con el!!

  • are we watching the same thing? its a pretty shit video and shepard is my favorite artist of our generation. theres no story line, its just a string of well lit shots and alot of obey plugs.

    fail imo.

  • @tritontv The storyline goes hand-in-hand with the song. It relates to materialism. Materialistic things are indefinite, changing constantly can be destroyed. Physical homes will crumble and ultimately be lost. But those who associate home with a particular feeling or familiarity can take home with them anywhere and it will exist forever. The video conveys this meaning by juxtaposing the crumbling buildings etc. with art, which is a form of feeling or familiarity that is associated with home.

  • love this video i've done some photography in this town...& specifically of the man at 2:36 beautiful!<3 <3 <3

  • Best lyric video ever!

  • why is Wiz Khalifa in the suggestion? This is a million times better...

  • I love the contrast between the fast beat and the tripping melody on this song

  • Brill Bobs!

  • pretty effing awesome.

  • That is an amazin' video! <3

  • 52 people didn't sleep with their lights on

  • So glad Shepard Fairey worked with you on this you guys did the concept amazingly

  • 好喜歡最後十秒

  • @naruseboy Ben Gibbard, the lead singer is the lead singer for Postal Service

  • LOVE this!

  • 3:22 "Nothing's the same" sooo if nothings not changing, doesn't that show a constant? I'm not too worried about destruction and all, if anything it sometimes helps us realize something about ourselves..

  • play this with rainymood open in another tab, no need to thank me;)

  • @tjmalekoff - Who cares if shepard fairy is a homosexual?

  • @tjmalekoff - Who cares if Shepard Fairy is a homosexual?

  • @tjmalekoff and? whats wrong with that?

  • Sounds like he's forecasting a major earthquake, like what may happen here in California soon. A big one is INEVITABLE, it's only a matter of time and I think Ben Gibbard recognizes what destruction it can have. Reminds me of Japan.

  • nice video

  • AWESOME SONG..I love how the voice breaks in around 1:03

  • oh yeah, codes and keys is in da house!

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn, Fairy n crew got down.

  • @NikiNeato I just listened to ur cover. really nice! You kept it close to the original but really made it your own. good job ;)

  • @WoodstockJohnny my thoughts exactly.

  • this song is equivalent to someone squeezing my nutsack til all the testosterone is emptied

  • what tool was he using to cut the paper at 1:54?

  • @NQKProductions Looks like an Exacto Knife.

  • thanks mike!

  • I really wasnt the biggest fan of Shepard Fairey until i watched this, then i went and rewatched his portion of exit through the giftshop and looked up some of his art shows, and now im a fan. thanks death cab for opening my eyes to a really good street artist

  • 2:10 angle is the best!

  • iscrivetevi, potete trovare molti tutorial grafici qui ;)

  • the blurriness every second gave me a headache. i like the song but im not a huge fan of the video

  • Get a grip, Shepard Fairey. This is just like "Little Bribes."

  • sounds a bit like Radiohead

  • Shepard and Nicholas on "Home Is A Fire" at obeygiant com slash headlines slash death-cab-for-cutie-home-is-a-fire-video

  • This song has similar sounds to The Photo Album. I love it.

  • @bluenohra ... if you actually listened to death cab and knew anything about them as a band, you would know that "Why You'd Want To Live Here" is an old track and at live shows, Ben usually states that the song is written about Los Angeles but that he no longer feels that way about the city, he actually spends a lot of time there now. Get your facts straight, buddy.

  • amasingg.

  • I dig Shepard's work because it's paper on surface and not f'in spray paint or stuff that defaces property. Yeah, I know every once in awhile he sprays all over the place but I'm sure he's learned to be more Enviromentally sound :)

  • Obey peeps: next time you're pasting around my apartment, give me a damn shout out.

  • the beginning is right at the start of sunset

  • Kinda reminds me of when I slip out of gridlock on the ten and take Pico to the westside. I get in this weird "why am i here" kind of existential funk. Not sure if that was their intention, but personally for me it feels like a snapshot of my brain at that moment... luv this...

  • The song writing is boring and Shepard didn't do anything more than half-hearted. I've liked Ben Gibbard since DNTEL and Shepard since he first started passing out Andre stickers at DC punk shows in the early/mid 90s.

Still, both of them are sinning wheels here. Boring video for a tired song. Don't reply with nonsense about entitlement to opinion, be honest, this is treading water.

  • i like this songs a lot. really looking forward to the new album!

  • Took me a while, but I now cant get it out of my head. Turn up the bass on your sub at and the last minute is fantastic

  • Weird :)

  • my first ever favorite band <3

  • Fan of Death Cab for some years now and this is a great addition musically. Have also had respect for what Shepard has built. However, this video just seems very elementary to me. It can be classified as a well done high school video with a good camera. An "urban" version of pretty and nice sounding with lyrics right in your face, but nothing more.

I look forward to the new album. Both artists keep on producing.

  • This is incredibly well done. As a photographer I must say, the closing scene (with the cityscape bokeh) is absolutely marvelous. Very well done.

  • Great song, but Jeeeezus, this video is height of pretentious crap. Possibly the most vapid, meaningless images strung together with little to no meaning.

  • the 19 dislikes is the city ppl who hav 2 take all them signs down.haha. d=

  • love the video and the song!!!!!!!! :)

  • So goddamn excited for Codes and Keys. LOVE DCFC

  • that's my neighborhood Fairey

  • The simplicity of the video is what I love the most. It's real. It's pure. It's raw.

    It's brilliant.

  • This is just amazing.

  • Wow I thought Fairey would have access to a laser cutter.

  • obey!

  • Love you guys, but do you have to continue perpetuating your Obama-love DCFC?

  • light and shade and very beautiful colours, thanks!

  • o fuck you wath a shit xD

  • @jmshapes maybe thats the point

  • To be honest i didnt think the video was anything special, certainly not worthy of sharing. I found the whole video incredibly unimaginative. Sticking lyrics up on walls as they come through on the track and recording with a camera from a car window (we can all do that!) and taking a few nice video shots then putting them all together. Its very weak, reminds me of students work in college. As a street artist (who is known to be a heavy plagiarist. Search on google) id expect something inspiring

  • Be Gibbard better stop singing "...I can't see why you'd want to live here..." about LA when he's living there now and having it star in his videos!

  • @bluenohra

i read in an interview, 'why you'd want to live' here is about a love interest or a friend moving to LA, and the song is giving examples of why they shouldnt go.

  • @bluenohra alot of ppl get sensitive when someone states the negative part of LA,but Snoop Dogg can go on and on about how great it is,but doesn't state the real issues of the city and how to come out above the influence.LA is a great city, lived here for 15+ in South Central,Valley areas.Worked at Centennial High,Jordan High School.I love my students, but the graduation rates are not great, and the influences are not the best.Ben is jus stating honest facts

  • awesome sing and clip!!!

  • Really like this.... !

  • Wow what a fantastic video.

  • nice

  • You should totally get the band to release some of that art as posters

  • I love it! It's totally fitting art, just like the video to "Little Bribes". Congrats guys!

  • even the video is reallyreally nice.

    low budget, good photograpy

    thanks!

  • I was jumping with joy!

  • sick vid - some cool stuff going on

  • echo park !!! :)

  • Shephard Fairy has always come off as representing the status quo while trying to be a Banksy without the talent. He iconized Obama, the corporatist, after all. Doesn't that say enough about him?

  • Fucking awesome!

  • Shepard Fairey... an artist's artist

  • Nice song... BORING video so sleepy now

  • Life is now complete! Death Cab and Shepard Fairey...perfection!

  • I seriously can't wait to hear the whole album<3

    .

  • Holy shit. I just climaxed. Hardcore.

  • Oh yeah, does anyone know if I can get some of those amazing posters?

  • The video was good, but the music was great! I've come to think of Death Cab as a whiny band, but this is quite the opposite, reminds me alot of Radiohead

  • OK. Death Cab For Cutie and Obey are two of my favourite things on planet earth. The fact they've come together on a project is just... it's almost too much for me. If there was an Obey/Death Cab For Cutie shirt I would buy the shit out of it!

  • Love it! Like the idea for the video.

  • @0:35 Optimus Prime? lol..

anyway, this is amazing, love it

  • very deep message. I like.

  • I still don't understand what a death cab is...

Band names these days, I tell ya.

  • @StackCityEntOfficial it's a cab for you

  • @EnokiSkai Oh, I get it now. Now it makes sense.
