  • What a GREAT man and president, there unfortunately will never be another FDR!!!

  • @greg4161 yeah, UNFORTUNATELY... not. I think Obama's a lot worse than him. He just wants to spend and spend. He CAUSED the recession, not 'inhereted' it.

  • Back then, govt was telling the people to ration, conserve for the war effort! What was Bush saying during his wars: spend, go shopping! What a contrast! Look at the economy! Thank Vishnu for FDR 'cause w/Hoover u guys b a 3rd world hailing MeinKampf Furor--wait--u had that already w/Bush & u even voted for him. HA! Bank bail-outs TARP started by Bush! I guess ur a big socialist too!

  • It was FDR who is credited for ending depression, not only in the various agencies/legislation to help people/employ them, but because people trusted him. That's why he was re-elected, re-elected, how many times, say it, try not to puke! U c, u look at the world thru them against us, but FDR saw the world as " "we"! That's why he is well admired! Just look at the footage of then, & how people talk great admiration of FDR!

  • U who say war got USA out of depression just want to minimize contributions of FDR and so minimize any reason to have gov't stimulus/intervention in to economy because ur erroneous philosophy is u don't need gov't in private business! Yet, back then, like now, private business wasn't hiring, right? So just like now, gov't stepped in! Keep in mind even b4 US go into war, they were building war machines for allies! Once US got in, urgency to build for war escalated.

  • Prevent competition. Yes, he said that."Fair wages" sure does sound nice, doesn't it? What you're watching here is the beginning of inflation. Check the gold prices for the last 100 years and see what;s happened. The price of goldtends to follow inflation. the less the dollar is worth, the more gold is worth. I know there's more toit than that, but I don't think that you people who are buyint into the lies of FDR have the mental capacity to handle any more right now.

  • @1rendezvous Really? you don't really believe that drivel, do you? It sounds like you're talking about the last 18 months under Obonehead, to me. Libs in congress wouldn't even CONSICER anything a Republican put forth.

  • @buisyman

In all honesty in the modern Democratic Party has no liberals. Most of them are 3rd Way Centrist Democrats following the ways of Bill and Hilary Clinton. The only real liberal senator America has at the moment is Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Whose is a Independent who caucuses with the Dems. The true New Deal Roosevelt Democrats are dead. Having lost a majority of power during the Reagan Revolution and the corporate takeover of the Democratic Party by Rahm Emanuel and the DLC.

  • @scottsway From what I've seen, the dumbocrats have gone hard left and the republitards have gone hard right. Being omeone who is rather hard right, myself, I see this as a problem. There can be little or no compromise. This can be a good thing, in certain instances, but mostly, it's a bad thing, don't you think? Don't you think that Pelosi, Reid and Boxer are liberals?

  • Hard to believe Dubya holds the same office as this great man. I can't wait to have a president in office again who is not a blithering idiot.

  • There is no "team" in me, just "me". Thanks for taking the money and telling us what we want to hear.

  • Our government alone with the banks bust our economy, then you expect us to believe you are the hero. Simply B.S.

  • a great president.

  • @kmturski Great President? He stretched out the depression for 13 years. It took WWII to get us out of it. No, FDR did NOT get us out of the depression, war did.

  • @buisyman ...and? What is war? GOVERNMENT SPENDING! So, you just admitted that the solution to a economic depression is MASSIVE government spending programs. Way to think that one through.

  • @LennySeals Well, if you chose to look at it that way, then I guess you can. The BIG difference is what the spending was on. Not "social programs" for the lazy, but spending on actuall physical products for the war effort. You know, tanks, guns, bullets, etc.. The American manufacturing machine started cranking these things out. that means people had to build them. for someone who was buying them. That includes europe, which was buying out american made tanks and planes.

  • @buisyman "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

    Dwight D. Eisenhower

  • @LennySeals So very true in so many ways. Sometimes, however, wars must be fought. In the end, if you don't fight to win, you will lose. Remember Vietnam. 12+ years of war, contless lives lost because of JFK and LBJ and we lost because liberals didn't want to win a war they started.

  • this 'ere also applies to us today, FDR--tho you are reading it from a paper word fer word. still, we need a new deal!

  • @mn404 Yea, a new deal, not a raw deal. FDR took office and the unemployment rate shot up from 9% to 33% and stayed over 25% for nearly 8 years. Is THAT the kind of "New Deal" you want?

  • How phenomenal!!
