@woodrow450i Per licensing laws, they can only write new code. The SOE logo is written code on your disks. As far as I know, they cannot change any of the preexisting code from the disks. I could be wrong. They also have to give SOE credit for the game. SOE did write the code on the disks, and not giving them credit for it would be akin to theft. While the Emu team is writing the code for all actions in the world, SOE did write the world codes. It's complicated. Let them worry about that stuff.

The balance and the gameplay may be more like wow, which somehow makes it better, but the player base and community of the pre cu days were the best I will ever see in an mmo. Very few games can have the impact that pre cu had on me, but lemme just say that while it is I think forever lost, I'll be a star wars fan until the day I die.
@fartsam08 Yep, there use to be people all over. In fact I remember this vividly. The TKM Teras Kasi Master was using Intimidate and Battle Cry to debuff the Jedi at the start hehe.
There use to be so many people in that game that lag was a problem all the time hehe. But get on over to swtor dot com. Most of the Developers are there now and when it launches things will be good again.
@Seattle206723 TOR is being handled by a lot of the devs who made Warhammer Online, which was pretty bad. Most of the SWG devs went on to create Fallen Earth.

TKM had zero-zip-nada force powers, that was a separate Jedi-only skill tree. But TKM had brutal damage-dealing, also they had great knockdown / headhit and dazes, that 'shriek' you see the TKM doing is a 'warcry' skill from Brawler which would temporarily stop their target. Lastly that TKM was definitely a 'stacker' of some kind, in old SWG you had 250 skill points, allowing you to grab skills from Fencer, etc, and stack all the skills together making you very tough.
Also the PVP is starting to suck HARD at least at the time I left. People just standing around waiting for zerg/lag pvp in the same place over and over again then taking 30min to rebuff, since buffs are necessary. Fun pvp is hard to come by. Also many things in general are completely out of whack, just couldn't stand it anymore....
in swg today..to be a powerfull jedi u have to grind holos relentlessly, do pvp and win to get super faction buffs, complete heroic epic instances with a group, aquire the jedi clothing etc. its more then pushing a buttom.

Holy crap, I actually know this dude. My friend and I used to always fight with this dude and his friend before he sold his account. This dude was pretty good but basically the four of us were always the best on the server. We always had really awesome pvp battles.
I miss fighting with this dude, he was awesome. He was a good sport if he died too... most weren't LOL.
Guys, there is a pre-cu version of SWG out. It's called SWGemu or SWG emulator, its not totally done yet but should be out "Soon." The best part is that it is FREE!

SWGEmu sucks it is full of fanbois who wont accept that the original game needed fixing. It's like fix Doc Buffs and comp armour so theres actually some diversity to the game....... oh wait no you wont do that to actually make it better and what SOE shoulda done.
Back in the days of perma-death pre-9 there was a saber tef if i remember. If your character had a saber out anyone within 40m or so could initiate combat like a bounty tef, was to duiscourage people running around with glow bats and got scrapped post 9 with permadeath.

The saber/force TEF was to anybody of opposing faction. Rebel Jedi who were TEF'd could be attacked by covert or overt imperials, and TEF'd Dark Jedi could be attacked by any rebels.
Also, there were a few months of pre-9 that didn't have permadeath.
It's been so long I didn't remember, but i could of sworn there was a tef for the saber for a bit =P I remember seeing my first jedi when i was still neutral and having the option to attack him.
it took a certain amount of visibility, but if someone saw you wearing robes using a saber or any jedi ability then it would cause visibility which in turn would put you in the bounty terminal.

i liked the CU for some enhancements but i did not like the balancing they did since it ruined certain classes, like Teras Kasi and Commandoes were nerfed into extinction, and they made it too easy to become a jedi in the CU upgrade
KOTOR3 is comming out in 2009-2010 but i dont think it will be good. BIOWARE has made good single player games...with a straight through story line... Everyone can atleast try swgemu.. swgmeu will be done before kotor3 even hits the shelfs..... and btw NOT ALL of the pvps cryed... I was a hardcore pvper and i loved the game i had no problems with it.
TKM is short for Teras Kasi Master. They were the hand to hand combat people of SWG. The only weapon they ever really used was a vibro knuckler which you can't even really call that a weapon. They didn't really do amazing damage, they were more defense, dizzy, and stun stuff like that and then they'd take their opponent down. Awesome class. But google it if you want good info

True. When I was 100% TKM and hybrid Jedi (healer) I was able to challenge high ranked Jedi. I really wanted to keep that template. It was so fun. Eventually I had to drop TKM in order to keep leveling in Jedi.
There were many sweet moves to chose from. Sad to say the most effective moves were the higher ranked ones. That is why you see the same moves being used over and over.
The RP/Pver's ruined SWG!! They couldn't hang in real PvP. Csr's always harrassed me for pvping so about 6 months before SpaceExpansion I left swg and a months later I joined WoW...And WoW has nothing Swg!! I Left WoW because on a PVP server a lot of PVE goes on and they keep nerfing the classes because of the people who can't pvp. Hopefully "APB" has pvp and player cities like SWG.
No it was actually the PvPers that ruined SWG they were the pussy cry babies that always complained to SOE "OMG! HE KILLED ME! THE CLASSES AREN'T BALANCED! WAHHHH!!!" It was because of you. And as an RPer I can say from first hand experience that NONE of us had problems with the game, we loved it t he way it was.
Because PVEers and RPers didn't complain about the balance of the game. PVPers did, because they were always coming up with bullshit excuses as to why people were better than they were. You obviously don't do your research because that's what the first Combat Upgrade was about:Balance. Then it went from there onto NGE.

I remember this, I missed most of the duels including this one, Missi' was a well known exploiter and sky'niss was a well known griefer (his account was hijacked and char was deleted). The highest ranked Jedi on that server was rank 5 (named Ridir), nobody really was into the FRS and fight clubbing and most of us just did straight up pvp.
Anyone who got above master in the FRS was a fight clubber, thanks for exploiting, I don't know why your bragging, you cheated the system for your rank....

in fact is not cry i liked the NGE to be honest but one thing i quit playing SWG was cause of the click here to be jedi
cause it took me 6 or 7 months of ultra hard work to open my jedi so that they could then change it later
and other thing i dont like now is that they make nerfs depending on what senators and lets call em "admins" are playing.
they dont like for example spy then nerf they dont like commando nerf
but they only play officer and DJedi.. which they will never nerf 100% sure.

eh i was long gone by the time they implimented jedi.
but i heard if they pulled a saber in public you could go to the bounty terminal and report it and get an immediate bounty on the jedi.

But someone has to accept the mission first,
and then go and find the jedi, whom is probably grouped with several OTHER jedi, and no one in the right mind would attack them :P

Back in the days of perma-death pre-9 there was a saber tef if i remember. If your character had a saber out anyone within 40m or so could initiate combat like a bounty tef, was to duiscourage people running around with glow bats and got scrapped post 9 with permadeath.
least thats what i remember i think ^^: didn't play jedi pre-9

By the time Pub 9 came around it was easy as hell and everyone had a Jedi.

The saber/force TEF was to anybody of opposing faction. Rebel Jedi who were TEF'd could be attacked by covert or overt imperials, and TEF'd Dark Jedi could be attacked by any rebels.
Also, there were a few months of pre-9 that didn't have permadeath.

It's been so long I didn't remember, but i could of sworn there was a tef for the saber for a bit =P I remember seeing my first jedi when i was still neutral and having the option to attack him.

it took a certain amount of visibility, but if someone saw you wearing robes using a saber or any jedi ability then it would cause visibility which in turn would put you in the bounty terminal.

i liked the CU for some enhancements but i did not like the balancing they did since it ruined certain classes, like Teras Kasi and Commandoes were nerfed into extinction, and they made it too easy to become a jedi in the CU upgrade

KOTOR3 is comming out in 2009-2010 but i dont think it will be good. BIOWARE has made good single player games...with a straight through story line... Everyone can atleast try swgemu.. swgmeu will be done before kotor3 even hits the shelfs..... and btw NOT ALL of the pvps cryed... I was a hardcore pvper and i loved the game i had no problems with it.

TKM is short for Teras Kasi Master. They were the hand to hand combat people of SWG. The only weapon they ever really used was a vibro knuckler which you can't even really call that a weapon. They didn't really do amazing damage, they were more defense, dizzy, and stun stuff like that and then they'd take their opponent down. Awesome class. But google it if you want good info

Trust me, if you knew how it was back then, you'd see how somewhat intense this fight was, though it was inevitable that the TKM lost to a Jedi Knight.

True. When I was 100% TKM and hybrid Jedi (healer) I was able to challenge high ranked Jedi. I really wanted to keep that template. It was so fun. Eventually I had to drop TKM in order to keep leveling in Jedi.

There were many sweet moves to chose from. Sad to say the most effective moves were the higher ranked ones. That is why you see the same moves being used over and over.

The RP/Pver's ruined SWG!! They couldn't hang in real PvP. Csr's always harrassed me for pvping so about 6 months before SpaceExpansion I left swg and a months later I joined WoW...And WoW has nothing Swg!! I Left WoW because on a PVP server a lot of PVE goes on and they keep nerfing the classes because of the people who can't pvp. Hopefully "APB" has pvp and player cities like SWG.

No it was actually the PvPers that ruined SWG they were the pussy cry babies that always complained to SOE "OMG! HE KILLED ME! THE CLASSES AREN'T BALANCED! WAHHHH!!!" It was because of you. And as an RPer I can say from first hand experience that NONE of us had problems with the game, we loved it t he way it was.

Because PVEers and RPers didn't complain about the balance of the game. PVPers did, because they were always coming up with bullshit excuses as to why people were better than they were. You obviously don't do your research because that's what the first Combat Upgrade was about:Balance. Then it went from there onto NGE.

I remember this, I missed most of the duels including this one, Missi' was a well known exploiter and sky'niss was a well known griefer (his account was hijacked and char was deleted). The highest ranked Jedi on that server was rank 5 (named Ridir), nobody really was into the FRS and fight clubbing and most of us just did straight up pvp.
