it is a paul song ...you can almost tell which ones john wrote and which ones paul wrote....although they both put their names on the albums it was because john sometimes helped paul....
John and Paul both wrote song great songs-both apart and together. Anyone who does not know this really does not understand one of the key things that made the Beatles the most successful and best group ever. Throw in George as the 3rd songwriter and Ringo's perfect drumming (and personality) and you have the best group ever.
By the way anyone who knows anything knows Paul was the main writer and singer for "Let It Be"
@pochaco07 "Most songs of the Beatles are signatured as Words & Music: John Lennon & Paul McCartney. But Lennon wrote ever so much than McCartney, didn't he?"
@retro9Anime they both had a friendly competition on who would write more songs. But this particular song is more McCartney, even tho it was titled Lennon/McCartney. You only put Lennon on the title. I'm just saying.
F.Y.I... Songs credited to "Lennon-McCartney" were actually written individually by John and Paul, then sung by their respective author. Paul wrote Let It Be.
Lennon was amazing and definatly my second beatle but in my opinion Paul has written most of the beatles better songs though john did write amazing songs as well. I love them all and am obsessed with all of them. But paul has back in the ussr, let it be, hey jude, yesterday, long whinding rode, just to name some
@streetisgone Paul was main writer of She Loves You, Love Me Do,PS I Love You,I Saw Her Standing There, All My Loving, Can't Buy Me Love, And I Love Her, She's A Woman, Eight Days A Week, Yesterday, We Can Work It Out, Michelle, Paperback Writer,Eleanor Rigby,Yellow Submarine,Got To Get You Into My Life, Here, There and Everywhere, Sgt. Pepper, With A Little Help From My Friends,Helter Skelter,Lady Madonna,Back In the USSR,Get Back,Let It Be,Penny Lane,Hello Goodbye Fool on the Hill,Blackbird.
Thanks for your comment. Most songs of the Beatles are signatured as Words & Music: John Lennon & Paul McCartney. But Lennon wrote ever so much than McCartney, didn't he? Of course Lennon was an eccentric sometimes (as all great artists) but I'm certain that many wonderful songs couldn't be written because of his death. I think Lennon was a boss.
@kro22x Awesome job bud, but it's split pretty evenly between Paul and John. This song was written by Paul. They both said a good rule of thumb for who wrote the song is which one sang lead vocals with exceptions like I saw her standing there which was written by john and yellow submarine which was written mostly by paul.
This is a Paul MacCartney song. Paul dedicated it to his beloved mother, not to John's mother. John writed his song "Julia" for her.
Of course both signed all their Lennon-McCartney songs, but each one writted theri own songs and some of them, like this, are very personnal ones. No doubt this is on of the very best songs from Paul, and you should express it.
Let It Be a John Lennon song ? Who are you kidding bro ?

It's a Macca song, for christ sake...
They wrote together only in the beginning.... Change your title!!!
All Beatles' Hits are Macca's song!!
John wrote 10 chefs d'oeuvre and Paul 100... There is no comparison to make!!

@kro22x No, McCartney wrote more I think and this song was written completely by McCartney.
sgsmith1616 1 year ago
@kro22x No Lennon didn't write ever so much (more) than Paul. In fact Paul wrote more of their most famous songs than John did.
dachille1 1 year ago
@kro22x
You are incorrect. Lennon did not write ever so much more than John. It was pretty even and that was a key to the Beatles success.
