I used clicker training with lots of positive reinforcement to teach him, and it worked well. Every bird seems to prefer a different "reward treat", so offer your grey a bowl with numerous treats in there and see what he goes for first. Use that food as the reward treat. Make sure he doesn't get it at any other time, just while training.
Even if your grey is 10, he can still learn! Just start with a simple trick, like the Turn Around.
To teach the Turn Around, make him follow the treat so that he turns halfway around on his training perch. Then say "good" or something and give him the treat. Make sure the treat isn't too big, because it'll take too long to eat. Also, take away his food for a couple hours before training to make him WANT the treat because he's a little hungry. Don't worry, it won't hurt him!
After he gets used to turning around halfway, make him turn around all the way before rewarding him.
The entire time you're doing this, TELL him to "turn around" as the verbal cue he can associate the movement with.
If he starts getting frustrated, end the training session and try later on in the day. You want training sessions to be a positive and fun experience rather than a negative one. Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
omg how did you get him to do that? and where did you but them toys from? i hear a clicker do them really work to help train them? and what treat are you feeding him for his good tricks? i have a 10yr old grey is he to old to teach tricks? i had him for only 3 months and he dont talk too much just a few words :(
