I wish to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to the Greek tax payer (!) for making this video and delighting me with the show of seeing my taxes being thrown into the sea. Hellas, you rock!
just shows that exocet is not that amazing. Harpoon will take up high above radar and shoot down the funnel and blow the keel out while his brother will hover in circles to pick up the remains. HOWEVER, these two combined would not match that of a warshot torpedo. Which uses the earths natural sea and air to lift a ship and break its spine inevitably resulting in a sunken ship and most regretebly part of its crew........
not as good as a salvo of 16inch 45 cal rounds from an iowa, that would rip that ship in two, not just put a little hole in it. If it where in a real fight, even after thoes two hits, that ship is still fighting, still moving, still a threat, Knock it out, dont piss it off.
@xxkl0mpxx yeah except that it takes forever to get the guns on target, the range is about a quarter of the exocet range, and if you knew how hydrodynamics work, you'd know why a hole in the side of a ship is an almost guarunteed kill
@brydon189 You mean like how the missel is ment to crack the hull, and rupture the bulk heads? and for personal, people would be killed in the imediate area of the hit, and injured with internal bleeding around the hit. But the point that the ship stayed afloat and can still fight, And the missel can be shot down with a CWIS, when the 16 inch rounds cannot. yes the guns take a while to sight in, but once they are the can sustain fire for a long period of time. something which missels, cant.
@brydon189 Like i said before, Knock the ship out with some real firepower, dont just piss it off. Yes this should would have to leave in fear of sinking, but if it had a full crew with damage controle, it would definatly stay aflote. This ship sunk the next day, which shows if actions were to be taken, it could have been saved and kepet fighting, not the best situation to be in, when you can only injure a ship, and cant kill it. id like to see them fired at a fully operational distroyer.
well I was expecting more from those missiles. A artillery shell does more damage then that. Maybe if the sailors were on the deck of the ship they would die but other wise it just puts a dent on the ship
@heavengz two things should be kept in mind. First, the exocets used in this exercise might not bear the full explosive payload. Second, the greatest part of the damaged inflicted on a surface unit is the result of fuel and weapon systems' ignition after the missile hits the compartments. An empty ship being hit will not result in a 'big firework'.

It must be hard to hit a target that lies dead in the water.
