The premise is wrong. They r assuming that the big bang is the way the universe began. That's clumsy science. Building a $6 bil. machine to reproduce an event that didn't happen is not exactly "scientific". Seems more like faith to me! The Bible is to a large degree a metaphorical work, taking it literally causes a lot of the violent fundamentalism we see throughout its history. I don't see how the Bible is of any practical use when it comes to physics. Science is looking for the how, not the why :)
