personally i prefer to use sharpies or other markers for the clear parts^^ i painted them with tamia clear grean on my HG OO gundam and cherudim and it looked kinda terrible... im just not good with colors :P
when you do it with a marker it will dry quicker, wont form pools or bubbles and will look a lot smoother overall! i recommend that for everyone who is like me and just cant use a brush properly! XD
I bought this model at Anime Castel in NYC since its my last vacation day before colledge and I gotta say I wish the duel guns weren't molded in all white
from what im seeing in the instruction manual, it looks to be almost the same color in the season 1 model kits, that weird purply-grey color you see in the rubber pieces
the only odd thing about the 1/100 cherudim and 1/100 arios gundams is that they are $32 on all sites ive checked.... when theys should be $28 and seravee 2nd most costly for the 1/100's
Hi,I wanna ask...Are you using that tamiya paint the X-20 to mix the X-25,X-23 and X-27 to paint it?? Its is good to using it or just do without the X-20 paint??
He did mentioned that he did mix it. the X-20 is a paint thinner, which mean it makes the paint a little less thin and more dense so you can paint on it without problem. I recommend you to use a little if you want to mix because it turns runny(like he said).
when bandai chooses to make a kit, how many recolors/redesigns it allows them to do is always considered. since they're releasing a MG Blue Frame, i'm sure we'll see a MG Red Frame, but it could be up to a year away.
whoever panel lines with sharpie will mess up thier model kits. sharpie sucks compared to gundam marker in my opinion. my advice is dont use sharpie, wait and buy a gundam marker online if you dont have a store that sells them. its better then messing uo youre gundams.
Yes they work fine but good luck removing the sharpie if you mess up. Thats one benefit the Gundam markers have over sharpie its that whatever the mistake you can just wipe it of with your finger, swab, eraser, etc. Try wiping with a sharpie and you'll just get an ugly streak (i tested it on some spare plastic parts to be safe). Also its worth the money if you want to make your gundam look awesome but if you really want to save up, I hear people use pencils or mechanical pencils...
sorry dude, I buy my gundams and markers at my local anime store...its a small store but I order through him and gives me deals I cant refuse...but there are a lot of stores online that sell 'em but compare prices with each store to get the best deals (you might even get a gundam at a great price =D)
the only good colors that look good is red and green sharpie, but if your going to be touching the model a lot dont use sharpies and if you mess up using sharpies use rubbing alcohol to remove it and sharpies look best on clear pieces
hey robert if i use gundam markers in place of the tamiya paint and follow the steps that LegoWeirdo posted will it make a result similar to the paint?
how do you paint the clear pieces with the clear paint in those little bottles. Do you just use a brush and dip it in and paint? Or do you have to mix it with thinner or something?
I used Testors 'transparent blue' spray enamel for the clear parts on my 00 Gundam and the paint ran on mine too. I then did a second coat and the parts turned out fine. My girlfriend suggested using a transparent primer next time before I put the transparent blue down. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it might help avoid paint running. If it works I'll let you know!
for most of my clear pieces I have used stained glass paint

random question, have u ever bought the 1/100 astray red frame? im sure u would like it
dantekicksdemonass 2 years ago
i haven't, as i think i'd prefer the MG when it comes out (now that the blue frame is coming, it seems inevitable).
rrobbert184 2 years ago
id prefer a MG as well, but do you think they"ll make a MG out of a gundam that already has a PG? i want to belive so, but i highly dout it

what's the difference between 1/100 and 1/144 models
JVLRHappy 2 years ago
size and price. 1/00 models are usually 18cm, and in this case cost around $25. 1/144 models are about 13cm, and cost around $12.
rrobbert184 2 years ago
is painting it little hard though ?
strikerx200 2 years ago
is the manuel hard to undertand or is it easy to build the model?
strikerx200 2 years ago
it's really easy to understand. it's not too different from building lego.

Awesome review! I cant wait to get it! I want to complete my collection of Gundams of Lockon.
Gundam markers are the way to go! Having several types is beneficial too so its good to see you use a lot of types. =D

when i watched one of prime92's video's he said that u could colour a gundam with sharpys can u only colour clear pieces?
tran92dude 3 years ago
i've never tried a sharpy on a clear piece, but if you try, please comment on how it looks!
rrobbert184 3 years ago
Ive seen pictures of clear pieces painted with a sharpie and it looks a lot darker than what you should get but in a way still looks good.
LtKevin 3 years ago
Man, you have the best Gundam Reviews. They are really informative! I think I will make Cherudim my first 00 Gundam model kit I buy. Thanks
nakobass28 3 years ago
should i buy this one or 1/100 astray red frame?
tran92dude 3 years ago
hey if im too cheap to buy gundam markers would sharpie work fine?
dantruong12 3 years ago
it would, but be careful not to make mistakes. gundam lining markers erase really well, so it's easy to fix if you do!
rrobbert184 3 years ago
yeah what i do when i make mistakes is take alchohol and just wipe it off ive never used gundam markers before is there anything unique about them?
dantruong12 3 years ago
just that they're easy to wipe out the excess with an eraser.
rrobbert184 3 years ago
so wats the difference between gundam markers and sharpies? they works both fine.

so where do u buy the gundam markers. it would be good if i can find them in shops instead of on the internet.

yes, I use sharpies myself. I'll be posting a review of my 1/100 00 Gundam soon, and the sharpies look awsome on the clear parts! :D

i would go with the proper paints for sure, but if you don't have anything else, give the gundam markers a shot.
rrobbert184 3 years ago
how do you paint the clear pieces with the clear paint in those little bottles. Do you just use a brush and dip it in and paint? Or do you have to mix it with thinner or something?
RandomGuy820 3 years ago
i painted directly, with a tiny bit of thinner still in my brush from it's last cleaning. 2 coats makes it look a lot better i think.
rrobbert184 3 years ago
oh, thanks. i was wondering how you detail, what do you use the toothpick and the swab and eraser for to make your panel lining look so pro?
RandomGuy820 3 years ago
