He had abs back during the first few seasons of the series when his body was more lean. Now he's more focused on gaining mass... notice that he's bigger, not fat. If you ask me, he's still pretty in shape and fine as hell.

He's barrel chested, and solid, but doesn't have a six pack, or hugely defined biceps. Muscle definition, and even building, requires you to lift more than your body is comfortable hadling. You need to tear muscle, so it can repair itself, thicker, and stronger than before. Superman literally can't do this. His muscle is invulnerable.
