  • The Music is Michel Corrette — "Sonate en ré majeur pour violoncelle et clavecin" or "Sonata in d major for violincello and harpsichord".

Sadly, the only rendition on youtube (I could find) lacks the proudness the one in the film has: youtube.com/watch?v=zRqThnWas4U

  • lolwut?

  • NEVER WORK!

  • thanks for doing this and for the effort.

  • a bit boring to watch, the background voice is tiring... read the book it is awesome!

  • He made the subtitles a chore to read on purpose. It is part of Debord's goal "to problematize reception" (Greil and Sanborn) and force the viewer to be active. In addition, the words of some of the authors are detourned through deliberate misquoting.

  • @c732martel i dont think its that difficult to read the subtitles...and anyway was it not translated and subtitled by someone else after the film was made?

  • @c732martel

I don't think it's exactly "misquoting". The first sentence in the Society of the Spectacle is the first sentence in Capital, with "merchandise" swapped with "spectacle". The book is actually full of détourned quotes, most theses have at least one...!

  • Good job, subtitles are easier to read after the initial crazy titles sequence, so everyone just skip forward a couple of minutes.

  • after the titles and dedication, the subtitles are easy to read... at least on my monitor...

  • I wish someone would re-subtitle this. They are very hard to follow

  • yeah this is just insane
