I love your videos as you give so much useful information. I just wanted to ask a question. In the morning I either put on a face cream with SPF and then a powder foundation also with SPF or I put on BB cream with SPF. Would I still need to apply more SPF protection half way through the day?
@lisaeldridgedotcom Hi Lisa! Great video, thanks so much for putting this together for us. Quick question for you, you mention that at night if we have pigmentation we should be using a cream to lighten them. Could you recommend any brands? I always see a lot online but they all seem a bit too good to be true haha. (I have dry skin and eczema).
Thanks for all your videos! Extremely high quality and great information and tips =)
Thanks for this Lisa! This is a very important topic indeed. I am wondering what you think of safety ratings like EWG's on sunscreen and other products? I tend to use sunscreens containing non-nano zinc oxides because they are deemed safe by EWG. My favourites are Karen's Botanicals Lovely Lavender Facial Cream SPF 15 for daily use, and their Simple Sunblock Lotion (SPF 30) when I am more exposed.
Dear Lisa, I never really suffered from brown spots, but just month ago I went to Dominica and somehow got a lot of these of my right hand - i don't know how it happened. Of course it's not as frustrating as face but still looks very weird - I look like an old lady when I'm 24... do you have any suggestion how I can get rid of them? They are so dark... Thanks in advance for advice!
So true, I wish I could get hold of a sun screen with dry formula, even the autumn sun gave me some really heavy pigmentation and it looked so awful for weeks!! From then on, I always use sun screen. If it looks like there will be a lot of sun, I'll use spf 50 and on all the other days, I'll use 25. It's a hassle, but better than having dark spots.
You look like an amalgamation of Nigella Lawson, Olivia Williams, Kristen Stewart, and Keira Knightly. You are gorgeous and I LOVE your videos!! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much for this video! So informative - you talk about the textures of the products, which gives me a really good idea about whether they will go with my skin type. I have just one issue that you may be able to relate to, since I assume you are in the UK like me: where does one get these products? So aggravating that we don't seem to have such a good variety of skin- and suncare products readily available here in Britain, at least not where I live!
I just purchased the Loreal Expertise one in spf 45 for sensitive skin. i'm combination/sensitive with a tendency to get pigmentation. and the formula is very light, no scent, or oily texture. I live in Canada, so it was packaged a bit differently, It's called Ombrelle visage. but it's really mild and moisturizing, with tons of protection. In the winter months, is it still okay to go for a spf 30? as this brand doesn't seem to come in spf 15
I had a quick question. I live in the US and really wanted to get the Boots No7 Sunblock you recommended. Ive searched and looked everywhere, but cant find any place to purchase it. If you have any clue as to where i can purchase this item, Please let me know. Thank you!
i have a question and i hope you respond. i am trying to incorporate a good skincare routine into my makeup routine. i use a primer before my foundation because i have oily skin. now if i were to add in a sunscreen, do i put that before the primer? and i am sorry, last question, when do i put a moisturizer? or do i even need a moisturizer? i am sorry, i hope that makes sense.
Lisa, does the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral come in different shades? I was reading some reviews on it and a lot of people say that it goes on very dark, like a bronzer. I have very fair skin and I'm worried about how it looks on my skin once applied.
I tried Isdin (spanish pharmacy brand) fusion fluid spf 50+ tinted a few weeks ago and this one is impressive! Absorbs much quicker than the LRP fluid sunscreens and it feels lighter. Saddly, this is another one that gave me a allergic reaction (something really common for me with anything above spf30). Such a shame, because this would be one of the few sunscreens I would repurchased...
Sorry it is JANE IREDALE.. btw I tried mineral pressed powder and it really covers great but I don't know.. Never heard of that brand before and so so expensive!! PLEASE I NEED YOUR ADVICE!! not to mention always you re great cute pretty etc..!!!!
Hi LISA. I would really really appreciate if you could advise me about mineral powder SPF30 of Jane Ardele. Saleswomen literarily didn't want to let me go without buying it. It s very expensive and they told me I need to buy a brush that "Goes" with that powder???! I gave up and bought in the same shop dermalogica sensitive sun block 30. hope i didnt make a mistake. So please answer me what so you think about Jane IREDALE brand you re the only one who could know something about that .
Hello lisa , i want to ask you something . if i buy a sunscreen ( spf 50+) for sensitve skin from avon , can i use it on the face if it doesn't say if it is for body or face ? could it damage my face skin if it is for body ? ( it might sound weird ) i am sorry if i said something that doesn't make any sense ! thanks u so much , i love your videos , you are really amazing !
Lately I've benn using the Thomas Roth Instant Mineral: it's great, especially for a woman like me wearing make-up 12 hours a day. I do several application during the day so that I can protect my skin while giving it a good finish. Definitely "Like"!

I know this video is old but I hope you can answer my question! I have done some looking on the net but can't seem to get a definite answer. So, which do you personally think is better? The helioplex in Neutrogena or Mexoryl as found in L'oreal and La Roche Posay. Thank you!!
I was wondering if you could recommend an anti-"dark spot" or anti-pigmentation night cream? I have so many freckles, and do wear sunscreen every day, but it's just not enough to stop them! Thanks so much! I love all your lovely and informative videos!
love you mentioning the neutrogena ultrasheer - works great here in australia (shame the spf 55 would be displayed as spf 30+ ) love your videos i am officially hooked to them - This video speaks so well with our climate and sun danger
Sunscreens are more important than poeple think... Getting tan is a foolish thing to do in my opinion. It's horrible seeing young girls turning orange/dirt brown. Darken skin is beautiful but only when you are born with it, not from sun or solalrium. You may don't care about what poeple think about your tan but you should think about YOU aging and adding yourself 10-15 years. Skin becomes dry, gets brown spots, looses its younth and texture. Why want to look bad 40 when you are 20??
Lisa, what is your opinion about the controversy over chemical sunscreens and their having potentially harmful ingredients (like 'hormone disrupters' for instance)? After exhaustive research I've settled on a physical block w/SPF 46 for the face, and I've been managing to work w/it, but it's terribly whitening and leaves me so shiny (even after makeup). I'm torn because my previous sunscreen was invisible and easier to work with, but unfortunately contains those apparently harmful ingredients.
You should look up blue lizard sunscreens. I had tried a large majority of the products you have mentioned previously, but blue lizard has worked the best for me. Interesting info on their website as well.
which of these have oxybenzone? its an ingredient i try to avoid as much as possible because i have discovered that it is a hormone disruptor. its mostly in chemical sunscreens though. thanks in advance
Lisa, I'm finally going to embrace the paleness after years of mild (but none the less very foolish) sunbed use and this is all thanks to your videos and advise. I want to incorporate a sunscreen into my daily routine but I am not sure when to apply during the morning routine process and whether applying moisteriser, toner, sunscreen and mattifying primer is just too much, especially for oily/blemish prone skin types like mine. Is there a sunscreen that can double as mattifying product too? x
I just wanted to know, if wearing to much SPF will cause you to look "white" in photos. Because I've been told that the SPF in your makeup causes your face to appear that way in a photograph. If you wear high SPF sunscreen but buy a good makeup, will it hide the "white" effect?
Actually if you do some online research, sunscreens with SPF above 50 are considered misleading. Sunscreens that contain Vitamin A are harmful for the skin due to exposure to sunlight. That's why people only apply vitamin A products on their skin at night.
@mangoekiwi You are absolutely correct, on both points. It's a challenge finding that elusive sunscreen that's safe and effective, yet can be worn (comfortably) under makeup.
Lisa, could you please give me some advice on how to apply sunscreen so that it doesn't 'pill' (or ball) up on the face? No matter what product I try, they all seem to produce tiny white shreds that make applying any makeup afterwards somewhat of an ordeal. Is there perhaps a particular brand of sunscreen you might be able to suggest that does not do this? Despite the annoyance I still wear sunscreen daily, nonetheless any advice you could offer would be much appreciated, thanks!
I love the PTR Mineral Sunscreen. I reapply it every 2-3 hours and it won't screw up my makeup. It's also great for me because I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens. The PTR is all physical sunscreens so my throat doesn't close up! It's fantastic.
would it be ok to wear a matte sunscreen even though i have dry skin? im going on holiday and i hate normal sunscreens as they leave a white cast and look too shiny :(
@orangesparkle22 yes you could. I dont find the matte ones particularly drying but you may need a little moisturiser underneath if you find it to be drying
@lisaeldridgedotcom thanks , i think i will try the loreal matte fluid for my holiday as its reasonably priced. i have tried the original non-mattifying one before but it was too shiny so hopefully this wont be
Hello again Lisa! I would just like to thank you for always responding. It's very sweet of you to take time out of your busy schedule to respond to all your viewers. I was hoping you could tell me whether you've compared the Peter Thomas Instant Mineral sunscreen to Colorscience Sunforgettable. It's the same general concept, but a bit pricier. If you have come across it and have a preference of one over than the other, I'd LOVE to hear what you have to say. Thanks again! Wishing you well!
Hi Lisa! Yes, Loreal Solar Expertise Anti-Wrinkle and Brown Spot Matte Fluid Protection 50+ is pretty good. I've been using that for a couple weeks now and I really like it. I can't get access to other American brands anymore since I'm living in Europe now. This one is readily available everywhere.
The Peter Thomas Roth powder sunscreen looks amazing! We're told to apply sunscreen every 2-3 hours and thats hard when you have make-up on. Amazing idea!
hi, first of all i just wanted to say you look so beautiful in this video!wondered if u could possible share how u did your make up.. if u have any on that is?? u just look stunning. Also, i used to have acne and still get bad spots from time to time and they always leave a dark pigmentation even when they have gone. is there anything u can recomend to fade these marks on my face?i think u mention in this video that people who have pigmentation can use products to lighten it. love your website xx
question for you: is there a need to wear sunscreen in addition to products such as foundation, primer, and moisture that already contain them? It's something I've been puzzling over for a while now
Hi Lisa, I gave the L'oreal Solar Expertise, anti age creme for the face, LSF/UVB 50 a try. I was totally shocked when I put it on... It felt discusting on my face and it made me look like a ghost :-( I couldn't even blend it out, in order to get rid of the white.... I do suffer from pigmentation on my forehead, and Im looking for an oil free sun block for this summer...I will have to give the others you mentioned a try, until I find the one thats right for me.
i have a question, my skin is really sensitive, especially to sunscreen, when i apply most sunscreens my face swells up and i get tiny bumps which takes about 2 weeks to clear up, so i only use mac prep and prime spf 50, but i was wondering are there any other sunscreens that you would reccommend for very sensitive skin :)
Lisa, thank you SO MUCH. I bought what I needed thanks to your video (Peter Thomas Roth powder sunscreen SPF 45 and L'Oreal - Solar Expertise Anti-Wrinkle and Brown Spot Matte Fluid Protection 50+).
Thank you so much for this video, but I was wondering if you could tell me where I can purchase Peter Thomas Roth products...particularly the Instant Mineral SPF you talked about?. :)
Great Video, very very helpful, thank you so much. Could I ask you what you recommend to get rid of the brown sun spots from the face and back of the hands - I'm starting to get those!! Bought the Boots Anti Sun Spot SPF50 that you recommended! Thanks in advance. xx
LOVE this video. I have been suffering from hyperpigmentation for a couple of years and am really grateful for your recommendations of good suncreens. What would you advise for use at night to combat this problem? Thanks!
Thank you so much. I appreciate the time and knowledge you put into each and every one of your videos. I currently use one of the Bioderma moisturisers and I really enjoy that range, so I think I may just go get the SPF you mentioned. I live in South Africa so there's always the risk of sun damage, even during the middle of winter. I have freckles on my nose and cheeks but otherwise fair porcelain skin, does this mean I could be more prone to pigmentation etc?
Hi Lisa. I follow you from Sardinia (Italy). Besides your competence and creativity, I find you 've got very good taste and and I'm so grateful for sharing all of them with us. I'm learning a lot by you. Thank you! Laura
Very informative, thanks. I was just wondering about the l'oreal range...can u use it as a moisturizer or would you still recommend using your mosturizer before the sunscreen??
Very informative, thanks. I was just wondering about the l'oreal range...can u use it as a moisturizer or would you still recommend using your mosturizer before the sunscreen??
@stardrops82 depends on your skin type if you have dry skin you will probably need extra moisture. Everyone is different. I wear it alone but my skin is more oily/combo x
Very informative, thanks. I was just wondering about the l'oreal range...can u use it as a moisturizer or would you still recommend using your mosturizer before the sunscreen??
hi lisa! i just wanted to say how amazingly helpful your videos are, and what a lovely person you are - with all your success and busy schedule, but still manage to find time to help us and answer questions so graciously. i look forward to your videos the most! thank u! :)
Thanks again for your very informative videos about make-up and skin care. I am very interested by the Peter Thomas Roth product but I would like to know if it would work for a very dark skin. Quite often sun screen products looks very blue-grey on my skin.
@ibisa79 I find this one very transparent and completely sheer. It has a yellow base but there is no build up. Do you live near somewhere that sells it? If so try it in the store and then have a look at your skin in daylight to see if its working for you. Good Luck x
huge fan of La Roche Posay. My skin is alabaster white, dry, intolerant, very sensitive, with tendency to rosacea. Dry skin version 50+: no itching, no spots, and no sunburning. Has truly saved my life. And I can actually apply foundation over it. Highly recommend!
thanx, going shopping now for some of those sunscreens : ) 50++++ avene spf 50 is another good one!! and elizabeth arden 8 hour cream with spf 50, just bought that one, its new!!
@fjaril8 Love Avene as its great for sensitive skin types. I nearly included it in the video. I have never tried the EL one, I will thou. Thanks for sharing! x
aww ur so lovely! lol u seem like such a nice person as well as gr8 at ur job....the way i found ur vids is funny too my mums name is lisa eldrige too sum1 asked me if she was workin for no7 n i said no had a look onle n found you! how weird is that ?lol but rle ur vids are absolutly gr8 and i rle enjoy them xxxx
Lisa, I know that you have to apply sunscreen throughout the day. So how would you do that if you have foundation on? I mean u can't just apply sunscreen over your foundation. and taking your foundation off and on every time you have to reapply sunscreen is kinda of difficult also. So what is the solution to this?
@lisa, forgot to mention, i know u talked about the Peter Thomas Roth mineral sunscreen where u can apply over your foundation, which I have tried before, and I could NEVER tell if I'm actually getting the product on my face or not. My question on top was more about how would you reapply cream spf when wearing makeup?
@pmjc69 If you are sunbathing/on the beach/ on holiday its best not to wear full foundation as you will need to reapply. If you are working... so going in and out of the sun, apply your suncreen then a foundation with SPF and dont lie out in the sun during the day and you should be fine. That powder is good tho, try it if you get the chance x
Hi Lisa I love your videos!! I just had a video request I suffer with pigmentation due 2 old acne spots. Can u do a video with your recommendation on products that you love that deals with this issue?? I would really apreciate it! =)
Dratz I've got sun spots! Thanks so much for doing this video Lisa! I wear sunscreen everyday rain or shine but just couldn't really re-apply all the time. I'd heard of the PTR mineral spf but wasn't sure about it as I tend to not powder but after seeing it in your vid...Im off to pick some up tomorrow!.....now onto Pt2 ;-D
@fionaman its so sheer that there isnt any build up in the brush. The only way to wash would be to hold it facing downwards and rinse with running water, then squeeze out the water and dry flat...so the water doesnt enter the tube x
Great video. I bought la roche posay in 50+ and I have to say it makes my skin abit white:) It last all day and its great under makeup, I need to use more bronzer though. Again very very usefull video, I wish I knew how harming sun rays are before before. Hope its not to late. Where I can buy Instant MIneral powder in london? thanks
This is a fabulos video Lisa. I am definitely going to sort my sun protection out properly having watched this. I usually just make do with the spf in my foundation but realise this is not enough. Many thanks for giving me the push I needed. I like the sound of the La Roche Posay products so will head to Boots tomorrow.
Great video Lisa, loved all your reccommendations...i have been using La Roche Posay Anthelios spf 50 one instead of a moisturiser every morning and I have been loving it..Thanks for making such a video and raising awareness on the need of sun protection
Hi Lisa, I have a dry to combination skin. so my question is: do we generally need to apply a moisturizer under the sunscreen? Thanks a lot in advanced :)
Thank you so much for all the info. I've been wearing sunblock every single day of the year since I was 19! I'm in my late twenties now and I can honestly say my skin has barely changed! The mineral product you showed is genious, I need to get my hands on some of that, thanks :)
a face veil has many benefits then (the ones the muslims wear), they dont need to worry about all of this imagine how amazing their skin must be without all that pollution and harmful sun rays.
what do you mean? i dont say that im going every day or week to the solarium. that shows me that you dont know anything (or only bad news) about the solarium...
@LenaKemp Actually it's highly unlikely they are more intelligent than me.
And if you think that deciding to let UV rays ionize your cells resulting in them changing colour so you look like you've been bathed in orange juice, then I'm pretty sure that hints at the fact that it is in fact you who are less intelligent.
Hi Lisa,
I love your videos as you give so much useful information. I just wanted to ask a question. In the morning I either put on a face cream with SPF and then a powder foundation also with SPF or I put on BB cream with SPF. Would I still need to apply more SPF protection half way through the day?
Thanks

i love la roche posay!!!! Its the best!!! :))
mypixielove 1 year ago
Actually if you do some online research, sunscreens with SPF above 50 are considered misleading. Sunscreens that contain Vitamin A are harmful for the skin due to exposure to sunlight. That's why people only apply vitamin A products on their skin at night.
mangoekiwi 1 year ago
@mangoekiwi You are absolutely correct, on both points. It's a challenge finding that elusive sunscreen that's safe and effective, yet can be worn (comfortably) under makeup.

do you use skin supplements aswell? some beauty editors swear by them; do you recommend any?
missmusica21 1 year ago
Lisa, could you please give me some advice on how to apply sunscreen so that it doesn't 'pill' (or ball) up on the face? No matter what product I try, they all seem to produce tiny white shreds that make applying any makeup afterwards somewhat of an ordeal. Is there perhaps a particular brand of sunscreen you might be able to suggest that does not do this? Despite the annoyance I still wear sunscreen daily, nonetheless any advice you could offer would be much appreciated, thanks!

What do you think of the Shiesido sun screen? The one in the bright blue bottle with the orange flip cap.

Can sunscreen be applied around the eye area, or should this area be avoided?

When should sunscreen be applied? How long before/after moisturizer, before foundation?

What's the difference between Peter Thomas Roth "Uber-Dry" and "Ultra-Lite"?

I love the PTR Mineral Sunscreen. I reapply it every 2-3 hours and it won't screw up my makeup. It's also great for me because I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens. The PTR is all physical sunscreens so my throat doesn't close up! It's fantastic.

would it be ok to wear a matte sunscreen even though i have dry skin? im going on holiday and i hate normal sunscreens as they leave a white cast and look too shiny :(
orangesparkle22 1 year ago
@orangesparkle22 yes you could. I dont find the matte ones particularly drying but you may need a little moisturiser underneath if you find it to be drying
lisaeldridgedotcom 1 year ago
@lisaeldridgedotcom thanks , i think i will try the loreal matte fluid for my holiday as its reasonably priced. i have tried the original non-mattifying one before but it was too shiny so hopefully this wont be
orangesparkle22 1 year ago
@orangesparkle22 the ones that make you white have zinc oxide in them, avoid those and you'll be fine

This one is readily available everywhere.

hi, first of all i just wanted to say you look so beautiful in this video!wondered if u could possible share how u did your make up.. if u have any on that is?? u just look stunning. Also, i used to have acne and still get bad spots from time to time and they always leave a dark pigmentation even when they have gone. is there anything u can recomend to fade these marks on my face?i think u mention in this video that people who have pigmentation can use products to lighten it. love your website xx
alisonrawnsley11 1 year ago
question for you: is there a need to wear sunscreen in addition to products such as foundation, primer, and moisture that already contain them? It's something I've been puzzling over for a while now
webdivauk 1 year ago

@stardrops82 depends on your skin type if you have dry skin you will probably need extra moisture. Everyone is different. I wear it alone but my skin is more oily/combo x

Hello Lisa,
Thanks again for your very informative videos about make-up and skin care. I am very interested by the Peter Thomas Roth product but I would like to know if it would work for a very dark skin. Quite often sun screen products looks very blue-grey on my skin.
Thanks
ibisa79 1 year ago
@ibisa79 I find this one very transparent and completely sheer. It has a yellow base but there is no build up. Do you live near somewhere that sells it? If so try it in the store and then have a look at your skin in daylight to see if its working for you. Good Luck x

huge fan of La Roche Posay. My skin is alabaster white, dry, intolerant, very sensitive, with tendency to rosacea. Dry skin version 50+: no itching, no spots, and no sunburning. Has truly saved my life. And I can actually apply foundation over it. Highly recommend!

Thanks! :)
pmjc69 1 year ago
@lisa, forgot to mention, i know u talked about the Peter Thomas Roth mineral sunscreen where u can apply over your foundation, which I have tried before, and I could NEVER tell if I'm actually getting the product on my face or not. My question on top was more about how would you reapply cream spf when wearing makeup?
pmjc69 1 year ago
@pmjc69 If you are sunbathing/on the beach/ on holiday its best not to wear full foundation as you will need to reapply. If you are working... so going in and out of the sun, apply your suncreen then a foundation with SPF and dont lie out in the sun during the day and you should be fine. That powder is good tho, try it if you get the chance x

With the Peter Thomas Roth powder sunscreen, how would you go about cleaning the brush without contaminating the powder inside?
fionaman 1 year ago
@fionaman its so sheer that there isnt any build up in the brush. The only way to wash would be to hold it facing downwards and rinse with running water, then squeeze out the water and dry flat...so the water doesnt enter the tube x

@lisaeldridgedotcom Wow, Lisa. Thanks so much for replying. I honestly was not expecting it since you're so busy.

a face veil has many benefits then (the ones the muslims wear), they dont need to worry about all of this imagine how amazing their skin must be without all that pollution and harmful sun rays.
Strivin4Janna 1 year ago
@Strivin4Janna they have a relative SPF factor of 15-20. so a lot of sun gets through the veils. clothing has spf of 15 mostly.
