do you think at 3:35 Anthony hears that Navarro lead break, twists his head and thinks "if only I could get Navarros precision and Fruscianti's emotion ...."
they are referrin to whom wrote the song, not the ones performin the song.. Kiedis/Flea/Frusciante/Smith wrote Blood Sugar Sex Magik.. get it, dude?? lol
There's an ablum called Woodstock '94 that you guys can get. It has this specifically and other bands like Porno For Pyros, Blind Melon, Bob Dylan, and Joe Cocker.
i always thought dave was a great fit with the chili's.. he brought a different guitar sound to the chili's.. the funk was still there but the guitar textures were fuller and more opened up... i terms of guitar vocabulary and sound i always liked dave better than john.. but as an artist and songwriter i think john has a heads up
i think dave's time with them was important because ohm was like a transition from prominent rapping to singing, while still remaining funky(in most songs)
i hate it when people say that navarro's playing style didnt fit with the peppers because he was too metal..when if you listen to licks like the outtro here and give it away from woodstock, they're beautiful.
navarro brought an interesting dynamic to the band with his playing style, and in the end i'm glad frusciante is back...but i'm also glad they had the opportunity to play with dave.
Dave is a great guitarist, for sure, but his playing is more 'metal' than Frusciante's..would fit perfect with Jane's addiction, but not with the Chilis..We have to admitt that the soul of the band is frusciante!
i like how dave changed up the solo. hes a different guitarist completely and i like the different style he brought to the band.
one hot minute is a great album so stop bitching about how dave didnt fit in. if you all like the album too but hate dave your completely contradicting yourselves. stop being fucking retarted. WU TANG
Oh, I wasn't saying he added the actual solo. I was saying he added TO it, meaning I liked the twist he put on it. The first solo at about 2:50 was pretty close to the original, but the second solo at 3:28 was decidedly different, and I actually like it as opposed to other times Navarro altered a Frusciante song to fit his own flair.
navarro is a great guitarrist but i never liked the way he played the parts john wrote. OHM was a great album though. I am really glad John rejoined the band.
Good book! For a fan it's a MUST and unforgetable! I've just finished it, but if I will have time, i'm gonna read it again! And waiting for another concert!!!
He joined in late 1988 after Hillel Slovak passed away from a heroin overdose. He stayed in the band until 1992 and left because he was unhappy with the band's sudden success. During which, he released two solo albums and began addicted to drugs. He became clean in 1998 and rejoined the band.
i never finished it. i read until.. i dont even remember. some time after he broke his back jumping off that building... or when he did it with that chick on the roof of somewhere.
what a great book. you have so much farther to go. I really don't see how you could stop reading it. I'm not really a fan of reading but I couldn't put it down.

Navarro's tone is awful. He plays the chorus kinda cool but too much distortion.

I prefer this version over the original and the live performances with John. Both guitarrist are unique in their own style.

this is definately frusciante's song...navaro plays it alright but its just not the same

I'm probably the first one. But don't forget to credit Chad Smith, he rules everyone's ass off !
Chad is definaitly under-rated amongst the RHCP fans. It's a shame !
Take it Chad !!
