Of all the superheroes portrayed in tyhis movie, Batman was the one I was most concerned to see.
After all, the dark and brooding one I grew up with in the 90's didn't really exist back during the 50's. Back then he was a more light-0hearted character. So I was actually dreading seeing that kinf of interpretation here.
Fortunately for me, they struck a nice balance between the modern and golden-age versions.
He may not be as dark, but the one I grew up with is definitely in there somewhere.
@theabomation every1s the same. the creators of this movie just made it so as if the justice league were in their prime during the 50's instead of the 90's and 00's. Its just a different perspective of how the justice league would be like if they lived during the 50's.
to all of you people who critize the costume, the time of the actual movie was in the 1950s and at the time this was actually batman's costume in the comics.
bat's previous costume was ok minus the glove. and i love the voice to bad he did nit have much of a role in thus movie and why does any one put batman man scans like they do for spidey i wouldn't mind watching detect' comic issue 27
@bankaininjav2 It's the voice from TAS and JL:U and just about any other good rendition of Batman. Still, this guy does a good job for what appears to be an older version of the dark knight.
I hated his costume's look before he changed it in this movie, and the voice actor did a good job but I really didn't like his voice as much, of course Kevin Conroy won't always be there to voice Batman, but other people such as the guy who voiced him in Under The Red Hood have did a good job. It does fit the whole 1940s vibe of the movie, it feels like a new classic type of film, great movie
This is still the best DC animated movie to date, and one of the best things about it is the voice casting. David Boreanaz, Miguel Ferrer, Lucy Lawless, Kyle MacLachlan, Jeremy Sisto, Neil Patrick Harris, even Brook Shields did a bang-up job acting job, and the source material is some of the best that DC has produced in the last decade or so.
although personally i have no love for the gold and silver ages expect for nostalgia, i did really like the knods to them w/ the short purple gloves from detective comics #27 and the new look phrase from '64
i actually don't mind this voice, nothing can beat Kevin Conroy though and Bruce Greenwoods is excellent, this voice is a perfect batman voice of that era, worse voice was in crisis on two earths i think
Yes Kevin Conroy is the best voice ever for Batman, BUT I think Sisto did an awesome job. His voice has that deep, precise quality without any emotion that says, "Yes, I am the smartest human on the planet and in complete control of any situation." If you don't like his delivery on the "Matchbook" speech, you must be deaf.
"I have a $ 70,000 sliver of radioactive meteor to stop the one from Metropolis, with you all I need is a penny for a book of matches." HOLY........... F**K!!! That has to be the most diabolical line i've ever heard of any batman. He may have the power and resources to destroy anyone 10 times over...but he's not above petty arsenal if the need be! LOL.
am i the only one who thought sisto was great..i've been hearing the conroy voice my whole life...it's time for someone new. And greenwood wasn't even that great
This voice was awesome, you whining fanboys sound like some kid at Toys R Us stamping his feet and crying about how he didn't get the Batman toy he wanted.
Never thought of it, but I probably wouldn't be a die-hard Batman fan if Adam West wasn't my first Batman. I was just four and the scary Batman that I love today would have frightened me out of my mind at that age...I loved scary shows but still couldn't handle them. Always wondered why they went from scary to nerdy Batman - the kids would be more willing to buy the comics in those days. Dollar$ ! ! !
@lonewolf604 Exactly - and for a lifelong DCAU fan it is a bit jarring at first, but it does really work. When he's dealing with Martian manhunter is possibly one of the most badass bits of batman being batman ever committed to screen! 'With you, all I need is a penny for a book of matches' - priceless!
Guys i LOVE this movie...I am a big history Buff and a huge DC Comics fan and everything about this movie i like, the Meeting between the Golden Age and Silver Age characters, the Origin of Hal Jordan, and the Introduction of Martian Manhunter. Yes Kevin Conroy is the best voice actor to ever play Batman. BUT I think Sisto does an awesome job. He has very low menacing type voice that fits. How can you not love the delivery on, "Welcome home...Mr. Jones."
