  • umm it says he made sur john was dead in th song soooo

  • @aerosmithbeatles

    Joan, not john

  • @dguitar1213 paul goes through them at the beginning...

  • I like that dum, dadadada...dum! at the end!!! THE BEATLES: THE BEST FOREVER!!!

  • I've wanted those green bell-bottoms that George is wearing for 40 years.

  • George: I think it needs a rehersal.

  • loved it !! I mean look at this people reahersing and actually making history without even knowing... this is what you call genious... the masters were here and we will neve themr go away!!!! - my own opiinon

  • So catchy! lol

  • Love watching their recording sessions. Thanks so much for sharing this. The Beatles were geniuses at taking horrid subjects and setting them to whimsical tunes, like those you'd sing in the pub. Songs that stick in your head no matter your age. Pure genius!

  • best movie ever...lol the beginning D D B E minor lmfao

  • best movie ever

  • quanto ego paul e lennon tinham

  • 4 people did something that made them dislike it.

    Fucking overused statements.

  • 0:53 Maxwell's Silver Hammer made sure George was dead? What a twist to the Paul is Dead conspiracy!

  • Happy Tree Friends

  • finally a pro tutorial haha

  • 0:55 made sure that john was dead ! :0

  • @tomval1331 Kind of ironic isn't it

  • @tomval1331 they actually say joan.. not john. (:

the song goes: Joan was quizzical.. (etc.)

  • @xxmissbekyxx oh ya i see lol sorry :)

  • @tomval1331 um it's Joan not john

  • somewhat ill but nice to see them get into it so fast together

  • George Harrison described it in 1969 as "one of those instant whistle-along tunes which some people hate, and other people really like. It's a fun song, but it's kind of a drag because Maxwell keeps on destroying everyone like his girlfriend then the school teacher, and then, finally, the judge." In 1977 Harrison was more candid, describing it as "so fruity" but added "we did a good job on it".

^ from wikipedia haha. <3 so fruity?

  • Mal only had two notes to play and couldn't get 'em right. Fired!

  • I guess Mal Evans, the Beatles Road Manager days are over. Now they just give him the odd job of pounding the anvil with a hammer.

  • 1:51 The real fifth beatle

  • @ShavaShav the real fifth beatle was apu from the simpsons!

  • @Thunderbolt505 Mal Evans. Road manager. Fifth Beatle. If you watched the movie HELP! he's the confused swimmer. that pops up through the ice.

  • George looks really into this song at 1:37

  • thats good music,,, a complete great band,,beatles 4 ever

  • LMAO, "Maxwell's silver hammer made sure John was dead."

  • It took a lot of time but it was worth it.

    I can't hate Paul's granny-style, sorry.

  • I love Pauls singing at the end of this version of the song.

    SURE THAT MAXWELL BLED!!!!

  • @PageandPlant4Life ONE OF PAUL'S BEST.

  • Wow, the other Beatles look REALLY REALLY into this tune...:) not....

  • based off a man name maxwell edison it hink, how he used his silver hammer to murder his girlfriend joan i think. friggen scary lyrics. gave me nightmares

  • i cant figure out why ringo doesnt have a hump 1:13

  • God that Mal Evans was a tool among roadies. Couldn't even hit the anvil right on cue.

  • @steveconn What are u talking about?? he hit it right on time each time. And the reason it was him hitting the anvil is because Ringo wasnt able to hit it on cue and make the right sound each time. so they had Mal Evans do it, and he did a great job.

  • @PauIsAlive

At 1:54 he jumps it early and at 2:00 he's really off (died in a shoot-out with the LA cops in '76, best thing he ever did).

  • Gosh... love George's shoes.

  • Thnks for teaching us how to play Maxwell Silver Hammer Paul

  • @ 1:53 i swear....i love george right now coz he's wearing those shoes...i know that sound really stupid...

  • George's shoes <3 haha words can't describe how much I love those four <3

  • MAN! you can just fewl the tension and frustration when john and george start whistling. you can tell they were pissed! XD

  • George and John detested this song. lol

  • i think they where high

  • He says George at 0:54

  • Joan/George XD is this code for hermaphradite?

  • I wish this ending was in the song. BANG BANG Maxwell Silver Hammer... SURE THAT MAXWELL BLED!!!!

  • No this isn't Pauls best work...but its a fun song. Nothing more nothing less...that's the point of it...easy listening...yet strangely complex and interesting at the same time.

  • Love It.

  • long live the beatles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • such a happy song about murder :)

  • @ChillyDew37 exactly :-D

  • @ChillyDew37 The funny part was John lennon Who liked peace helped play it.

  • @Mariorox10

John had a great sense of humour ;)

  • @WoodRatGirl i know!

  • @Mariorox10

    I'm glad you know, bro!

  • @ChillyDew37 lol. I actually have the same thing on my mind, this song is about murder, but sounds so good and so light. BEatles forever!!

  • @ChillyDew37 so truee

  • he means Joan

  • "made sure that George was dead"? 0:55

  • @Mach3Films

    Joan read the lyrics

  • @Mach3Films Joan was dead, not George, lol.

  • @Mach3Films

He did say George was dead 0:53

In the song he says Joan

  • sweet now i know these chords!

  • um......... Paul said Gorge was dead

  • No, "Joan".

  • @MikeJustesenFilms "John"

  • @MikeJustesenFilms And "George" died too :'(

  • @MikeJustesenFilms no im prety shure he said gorge

  • They must have been smoking while playing- you can see the smoke lol

  • who plays the bass in the studio recording? because i know Wikipedia says George but it sounds like Paul to me.

  • I think it so. George was playing the guitar, for sure.

  • Are they under the influences of some drugs in this? It sure seems as though they are

  • Paul calling the chords cracked me up, then he goes and says, George is dead. Hahaha

  • not really, hti made HUGE hits when released.

  • alright alright, but thats ur opinion that it sucks. to me,a dnother beatle fans, we love it. alright?? and, no need to cuse Paul's songs, geez

  • Look how bored George looks. lol ;-P

  • Paul's granny songs? Well, Paul was/is versatile. He was behind most of the best non-granny songs too, like Get Back, Back in the USSR, Helter Skelter, and on and on. It's a huge myth that Paul doesn't do stuff of substance. He likes to have fun and do light stuff, too...and what's wrong with that?

  • it makes me sad that there's no live performances of the songs from Abbey Road, they're all so good

  • well before they recorded they decided they wouldnt tour anymore and thats why the only live performance was when they played it on the apple corps rooftop good luck finding a video of that

  • LOL its so funny paul is enjoyin himself and the rest of them look like they'd rather stick pins in their eyes lmao pauls granny songs <3

  • Bang Bang!!! :D tenian que ser te beatles.. son unicos!

  • LOL George @ 1:40 "Bang bang", so bored....

  • why did he kill her then hmmm

  • Joan is Maxwells girlfriend.

  • That's your opinion. Around the world it was released as a single and it made No. 1 in some countries and in others it was in the top 5. It was not released in the US or UK. I happen to like it--my opinion.

  • I remember reading that only Paul liked this song. George, John, and Ringo hated it.

  • i thought it was just john who really hated it

  • thanks, hes a colaborator of the band no? hes in many films and videos with the beatles

  • hey can anybody answer who is the guy with the hammer? i had seen him in the Magical Mystery tour film too and i want to know who is he

  • @paralanico i think its mal evans

  • @paralanico He's called Mal Evans. His wikipedia entry is v.intersting.

  • i might try that "G, G, B, B, E minor, A7, B, B, A, GGG, EEB"thing the nxt time i get my hands on a guitar, the way he instructs it is awesome

  • Fucking hell they all look bored stiff except Paul. haha. Typical, yeah?

  • No it wasn't typical. It was near the end and Paul was trying to keep it going. Good thing or we wouldn't have had the last three great Beatles albums.

  • paul wrote some right turkeys

  • Hey that's me relative you're bloody talking about!

  • @louie455

    who was joan?

  • Joan is the first victim of maxwell in the song I thought Paul said John

  • Paul clear sings "made sure that Joan was dead". People are so paranoid about John and Paul's relationship.

  • 1:53 terrible martillo, por otra parte :)

  • epic!!!

  • lol He said "made sure that John was dead" XD

  • joan :P

  • Oh. Sounded like John to me though lol...

  • @TakashimaKitara does to me on this version

  • He said "Made sure Joan was dead"

  • @TakashimaKitara No,really he don`t says that.He said "Made sure that JOAN was dead".The lyrics wasn`t finished yet

  • @SpeedStacking1 yes, but it's funnier when you think of it as "john" (:

  • @amandatully yes,you`re right

  • @TakashimaKitara How ironic. :P

  • 1:59: ultimate fail

  • Who the hell lit this movie? Dracula? Can't see a bloody thing.

  • Could John, George and Ringo have possibly looked more like they would rather be somewhere else?

  • I'm not suprised. Paul made them redo the song like 20 times

  • I read that John hated this song and refused to play on it but he's totally playing here?

  • Yeah I read that too. He called it "Paul's Granny music."

  • Pauls grammy shit

    along with obladi oblada

  • @c0m3t0g3th3r

this isnt the abbey road session.........

  • @c0m3t0g3th3r It was re-recorded a few months later in Abbey rd.

  • Cuánto pagarían muchos por estar ahí, en ese momento!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is how it was created, brilliant, no, amazing

  • 4 geniuses having fun

  • @musicseverything That would be 3 geniuses having fun. John hated this song.

  • @scabbarae yes, that´s right.

  • @musicseverything their having fun and it sounds f***ing amazing... that shows how talented these guys were.

  • @wiifreak787 yes indeed they were talented and they were also hard workers. Otherwise look at the huge number of amazing songs they´ve done in just a decade. And one thing we can clearly obseve in this video is that Paul was the leader, the one that pushed the group. You can see nowadays the energy Paul on stage. I went to Paul´s concerts this year in Miami and Dublin. He´s a sun of energy. Very impressive at its 68 yo.

  • i dont dislike it .. i just go by what the memoirs of the other beatles said about having to relentlessly play a song they thought was crap.

so good grief, give me some more red thumbs people just make sure u give them to ringo and george cuz they hated this song..k?

  • George is dead, D: silly

  • D D B B E minor! A seventh!

    B to D minor, D to A and then E

  • watch?v=CV29iaSx4Hs

  • i get the feeling that the other three are going...its a damn bloody good thing he can write shit like Let It Be or i'd hit him over the head with that bloody hammer for making me play this shite song...

  • why the thumbs down people. i like the tune. i have read that george, ringo, and johnnie didnt like it a bit..wow

  • lol they look miserable

  • I don't know a lot 'bout instruments but what is George doing with his foot and what does it do? Looks like a kick pedal.

  • Comment removed

  • wouldnt ringo be doing that though?

  • he's controlling the wah pedal, its an effect for his guitar. it shifts between frequencies as he moves his foot backward and forward, making it sound like that. check it out on wikipedia, its a must with any electric guitarist.

  • lmao you dont know which beatle is which

  • Its a wah-wah effects pedal.

  • actually I think he's just tapping his foot in this one.

  • George is just keeping time

  • i don't think he's doing anything, he's just feeling the beat

  • haha, the guy that hits the hammer looks like eric from tim and eric awesome show great job

  • that's mal evans, their friendly giant, just so you know :D he's considered one of the fifth beatles. he was a body guard in hamburg. they put him as one of the actors in magical mystery tour too. he does everything for them, like carry instruments in concerts, errands, etc.., he's pretty much awesome

  • wasn't he the guy who unplugged George's and John's guitars in the last Get Back performance?

  • good!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im glad they didnt keep john whistleing

  • I prefer the finished Abbey Road version--here at the Twickingham sessions for Let It Be, everybody was f-ing tense and hating each other.

  • yep...Mal, the Beatles long-time roadie and friend was shot and killed by police in Los Angeles in the mid-70's--sad but true (I remember reading this in Macca's auto-bio "Many Years From Now")

  • pretty sure the guy w/the hammer is Mal Evans.... he was their roadie since the early 60's ... he was always with them (lucky guy) !

  • Hahahaha, the hammer and the pan part is the best!

Hahahaha, who was the man with the hammer?

  • its loud

  • I agree...John looks less than impressed as Macca shouts out the chord changes. Priceless Stuff though...Great Posting. thanks.

  • oh how cool is this love it .

  • Haha, he laughs in the final cut because Lennon supposidly mooned him from the control room.

  • This clip shows how ludicrous Ringo's drumming position was, just to make sure he could be seen. He is is even elevated in a rehearsal when his band members are seated!

  • the other beatles hated doing this song apparently. john said it was an example of paul's "granny-style writing" or something he did at that time

  • I like this song, used to hate it,thought it sounded childish, but it grows on you and it portrays a story :]

    You need to understand it.

  • apparently john lennon hated this song because it didn't come from the heart =s

  • its true, and years later them say that this song was the one with the longest recording session.

  • haha Paul just taught me how to play this song!

  • LOL Me too XD
