I think I'm going to become Buddhist after this =O I'm not gonna go find my own HUM! Thank you BOTH for the information, it was very useful and im saving both of these vids as a reminder of another step i take into becoming more intertwined with the Asian cultures.
I may only be 18 and still vulnerable to society as I plan and plan to make a future for myself containing traveling to Tokyo and immersing myself with nuclear chemistry, but that doesn't mean im not my own person and can choose. =)
that not in the first sentence is meant to be a Now* =O But seriously all in all, thank you both for the information. After i graduate, serve some military time, make a little money, ill fly to Tokyo and see if i can attend UOT!
She basically boiled it down for me that mahayana is more about emptiness, and theravada is more about egolessness. Soooo... haha, that's a pretty broad statement. Wow, Buddhism can't be summed up in little sentences. Anyway, the way I write the sanskrit symbol is actually kind of weird. I like to curve it in ways that it's actually not supposed to be, haha. But that's how I love to write it. You should make a vid of you drawing some sanskrit on a wall, too!!
It's always the Japanese students that are Buddhist, isn't it? =p Your mom summed it up pretty well I think and it's cool to see that she took the time to know about the different schools! I look at it as a different expression at most, and it's totally interesting. The way you write is fine, it's personal that way like a signature. You know, I probably will do some Sanskrit calligraphy on video...plus some intense kanji, haha!
Sick! I loved this video. When I posted that vid on my channel I thought, "Hmm, will anyone really know what I'm talking about? Does this vid have too narrow an audience to post?" But I'm so glad that you enjoyed it. And I love seeing american young Buddhist peeps. It's funny, because I was actually just having a conversation with my mom last night on the differences between theravada and mahayana buddhism.
Get yourselves up to Hieizan at kyoto and get a dose of tendaishu.
It is one hardcore sect!
(Dont go if you cant handle a few hours of seiza without moving.)
