Daniel 8:13, 14. Antiochus does not fit the description of the little-horn power at all. Instead, as we see prophecy fulfilled throughout out history we believe that these texts refer to the great controversy between Christ and Satan. the spiritual battle between Gods' plan of salvation and the counterfeit "system" of the little horn, all of which will end with the 2nd coming. The little horn in Dan is the same as the the beast in Rev 13 This subject is too long for short answers!

See Daniel 12:11. You then take 554AD + 1290 = 1844. 554 was the date of Justinian's Royal Pragmatic Sanction which brought Italy under Eastern Rome.

You have a warp view of what SDA's believe. We we don't say you can't say a prayer on Sunday. The Bible says to keep the Sabbath holy. Thant begins from Friday night to Saturday night. Now, we tend not to have any church-related services on Sunday to not confuse anyone nor send a negative example that might cause others to trip. That's keeping with God's Word and being wise. SDAs believe Daniel 8:14 timeline started in 457BC; however, Jesus refers to "the abomination that causes desolation" to be a future event even in His earthly time (Matt 24:14) in a reference to the Roman invasion/incursion/strike in 66AD. Now, my MY reasoning, IF the SDAs are right in that 2300 days equals 2300 years, then they have to add 2300 to 66 to get the EARLIEST time (2366 AD) Jesus would "cleanse the temple". Are they willing to concede that?? Probably not.

From my understanding, Antichous IV was from the Grecian Empire. The pastor who couldn't explain Daniel 8 was quick to say Antichous was a two-bit player and not big enough to be the little horn. He fits the timeline, though.
There is a "two part problem" in Bible prophicies. First - many events are beyond the lifetime of the prophet and hence no frames of reference which would be familar to those living during its fulfullment. Second - alot of history is lost to antiquity.

To me Daniel 8,10,11 and 12 deal with Antichous IV and ended when the Jews retook and rededicated the temple after he desecrated it in 167 BC. The prophecy ended. Because its well known that the kingdom under which Daniel written that vision did not last six years which is 2300 days. If you take those days literally your not going to understand anything. I am a former SDA who left the church after studying Daniel 8 and 9 back in 2008. When the pastor couldn't explain how the timelines for Daniel 8 and 9 overlap, I asked that my name be taken from the church books as I no longer believed in an Investigative Judgment. I later found several EGW comments that were plagurized and passed off as visions from God.
When I left the church, my SDA wife left and divorced me; she had no interest in studying the Bible with me to see the SDA errors.

@MyBountykilla fulfill, didn't cancel. Jesus never canceled anything, the only similar thing to cancelling was substitution of sacrifices and some correction. Corrections did cancel His law, but really improved it (if a man looks at the woman with lust he commits adultery in his heart). Also i should add that the covenant as u say (but u really mean the 4th commandment) was given to man before Israel. It was given to first humans, and from them to everybody.

The covenant was made with the people of Israel and that is what Christ made new with His blood when the Jews rejected his gift of redemption. Funny you should say this, because the Bible says, "We are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him" Acts 5: 32. My Bible tells me that the ONLY church that God is leading AS A CORPORATE BODY is the SDA Chruch. Of course God has other sheep in other churches, but He is calling them out, because they represent Babylon, which is a fallen pagan system.

@goldmakers I don't think you have it either because you would lump a whole denomination together when all churches can be considered a cult just the same. All church have the wicked in side of them!! All of them!! The devil works though people and that will never change. I've been a baptist and the said can be said for a big majority of them as well as many other big church's. Every church has good and evil the problem is when they put their religion before being a christian above all else.

The Bible says we are to judge the church. we shall judge angels one day. If you had the H/S you wouldnt be an adventist. It's the H/S that adds to the church and builds the church ok. If you don't acknowledge the H/S how can you then understand what He's doing? The H/S leads us into all truths. He teaches us what is of God.

SDAs believe Daniel 8:14 timeline started in 457BC; however, Jesus refers to "the abomination that causes desolation" to be a future event even in His earthly time (Matt 24:14) in a reference to the Roman invasion/incursion/strike in 66AD. Now, my MY reasoning, IF the SDAs are right in that 2300 days equals 2300 years, then they have to add 2300 to 66 to get the EARLIEST time (2366 AD) Jesus would "cleanse the temple". Are they willing to concede that?? Probably not.

From my understanding, Antichous IV was from the Grecian Empire. The pastor who couldn't explain Daniel 8 was quick to say Antichous was a two-bit player and not big enough to be the little horn. He fits the timeline, though.
There is a "two part problem" in Bible prophicies. First - many events are beyond the lifetime of the prophet and hence no frames of reference which would be familar to those living during its fulfullment. Second - alot of history is lost to antiquity.

@jamesadrian021957 One problem people have is with "end time" which does not have to mean the end of the world. It also means the end of that prophecy. To me Daniel 8,10,11 and 12 deal with Antichous IV and ended when the Jews retook and rededicated the temple after he desecrated it in 167 BC. The prophecy ended. Again "end times" does not have to mean the end of the world. Thanks

@jamesadrian021957 I suggest you pick up a KJV bible and understand that a day is given for a year. If you take the days as 2300 literal days then you wont understand anything. Because its well known that the kingdom under which Daniel written that vision did not last six years which is 2300 days. If you take those days literally your not going to understand anything. Because the medes and persians remained long after Daniel had died. And that was more than six years

I am a former SDA who left the church after studying Daniel 8 and 9 back in 2008. When the pastor couldn't explain how the timelines for Daniel 8 and 9 overlap, I asked that my name be taken from the church books as I no longer believed in an Investigative Judgment. I later found several EGW comments that were plagurized and passed off as visions from God.
When I left the church, my SDA wife left and divorced me; she had no interest in studying the Bible with me to see the SDA errors.

I'm ready for them. I spent time working in a time travel research project and learned that to God everything is history since He knows the entire timeline and therefore the second coming can't be hastened nor delayed since He knows the date of His return. Also learned that predestination and free choice are opposite sides of the same coin. If I come back in time from tomorrow and tell you what you will wear, it's predestination; however, if I don't tell you, it's free choice.

Bingolly, the problem is, you don't know your history. The Greek King in Pergamos gave the Roman Emperor his power and title, Pontifex Maximus, pretty much officializing the end of the Greek Empire, and legitimizing Rome's rise.

Now, if you think ALL the laws given to them apply, why do we have paydays? The Bible says not to withhold wages overnight (Lev 19:13). Why cotton/poly clothes when the Bible says not to wear clothing of mixed materials (Lev 19:19). Go tell your employer not only to give you Sabbaths off but to pay you every day for religious reasons and see what happens.

@Terada60 where in the new testament does it say we must worship on the sabbath? the word sabbath itself means "rest". God was saying stop trying to be right on your own but accept through faith what I've done for you in my son. Show me a new testament scripture that supports the sabbath day. you will not find any. Plus you must understand that the Bible states that the law was under the old covenant and Jesus ushered in the new covenant with His blood. you must first acknowledge this.

@royal21973 Jesus says He came to fulfill the law. fulfill means to what, bring to the purpose of. He was the only one that could've fulfilled the law.He died so He can make a better covenant. the ten commandments was of the covenant of Israel. Christ made a new covenant through His blood. read Hebrews. It explains the whole thing. The problem is SDA is they don't know that the ten commandments are under the old imperfect covenant and since Jesus there is now a new covenant. learn it

@MyBountykilla fulfill, didn't cancel. Jesus never canceled anything, the only similar thing to cancelling was substitution of sacrifices and some correction. Corrections did cancel His law, but really improved it (if a man looks at the woman with lust he commits adultery in his heart). Also i should add that the covenant as u say (but u really mean the 4th commandment) was given to man before Israel. It was given to first humans, and from them to everybody.

@MyBountykilla Hebrews tells us what remains:4:9 Sabbath (sabbatismos)-centre of moral law( commandment 4) & what fades: 7:8-18 tithing: centre of ceremonial law & religious system under priests-temple tax. Paul clearly shows that Christ fulfills role as High priest replacing all priests-but Pastors still insist on receiving 10% tithes as Levites yet they are adamant they are not under the law. They try to abolish the moral sabbath and enforce a carnal (7:16) ceremonial law namely tithing.

@MyBountykilla The 10 commandments are God's eternal law that was in existence before Sinai. The Sabbath commandment was given at creation after he created all. The covenant was made with the people of Israel and that is what Christ made new with His blood when the Jews rejected his gift of redemption. Read all in new testament Matt 4:10, 1john 5:21, 1 Tim 6:1, Mark 2:27-28, Heb 4:4, Matt 19:19, Matt 19:18, Rom13:9 and see that Gods Holy law is still very much relevant. God Bless you!
