  • wow i never really knew they were that big since i only seen them in tanks, thats like a decent dog's size.

  • I was there at the aquarium on a school feild trip when this happened. The otter bit a ladies butt. And the lay just happened to be my principals wife. We had to stay in the penguin expbit forver!!!!!

  • i bet those otters were born there so they have interacted with people before so they now that this humans are friends . a family of otters lives literally in my backyard and they are as friendly as can be , i feed them every time i go fishing and just a few weeks ago they had cubs , six of them . but still i gess they could be scared , the otters that live here ( in new jersey ) are just a bit smaller than a house cat

  • omg u wer fimling this this vid was on a show on animal planet

  • the lady in the pink is such a bitch

  • Run, little otter, run!

    I <3 otters =)

  • Nature always wins!

  • There weren't any otters loose when I was there. :(

  • RAHAHAHAHA!!! 5/5

    that is GREAT!!! Otter Chaos

  • buncha pussies, even the guy whoes fukn 6 foot somethin

  • step 1---get a bag and cover the animal..then haul it back. what is so hard about that? kudos to the otter---i've been to that place, it's waay small for such animals. an aquarium should be for fish, not a zoo. first an arboretum with tulips and all sorts of plants that don't grow in the South. now an aquarium with manatees, panthers, and ottters.

  • Those dumb people, I would KILL for a chance to hug an otter. That woman who was evacuating the kids.... what an hysterical bitch. I LOVE OTTERS! You are so lucky

  • I remember this happening at the Columbus zoo a couple years back with giant otters as well O: I just stood perfectly still while he stood up on his hind legs and checked me out, but then a worker with fish was there within like 30 seconds and soon he was back in the exhibit X3 I didn't try to pet him for fear of being kicked out of the zoo :( (he acted perfectly tame)

  • Otter's are like big ass water dogs, they can be nice and friendly, but they can still bite the shit out of you, too.

  • i'd say you're pretty lucky for close up view :P

  • haha, that is one smart otter. XD

  • Lucky, while I was there the otters were just hiding out the whole time.

  • while a bite is almost guaranteed not to be fatal....fire burns, and things with teeth can bite....its amazing what people do to avoid pain.

  • i love that place

  • Wow, petting an otter is a VERY bad idea. I've known of people needing reconstructive surgery due to being bit by an otter. They also eat 20-25 percent of their body weight every day since their metabolism is so high.

  • i've been bit by a wild baby otter. and it fractured my finger.

the bad part was the 15+ shots that I had to get for rabies afterward

  • I thought someone told me an otter like that eats once a week and he said something like an otter can eat a whole cow for lunch.

  • WTF why are they running, it isn't going to bite them to death! lol! It is so coout

  • I've worked with otters for around 20 years now. They're friendly, even loving to people they know, but they are still wild, and their teeth and jaws are made for crushing fish, bones and all. Giant otters' natural prey is piranha, so you can imagine the bite power the otter must have. The rest of them is strong out of proportion to their size too; far stronger than most people. They're related to wolverines and badgers, after all.

  • What a great video! Good editing, too.

  • lol, I love how the manatee smooshes his nose against the glass

  • I like the alternating comments; otters pwn and are friendly vs. otters are massive deadly machines that will kill you. Ah, I bet they're like people; pretty damn happy to see you unless you poke them with a stick or freak them out. That otter does look extremely pleased with itself. I can't think of another creature that could escape like that. Slippery dudes.

  • Why is everyone scared? Otters freaking pwn!

  • Maybe if everyone hadn't been screaming and making a huge commotion, the otter wouldn't have felt the need to bite? Then again, maybe it's just their way of playing (as dogs will do and such). She's/he's? adorable! Thanks for sharing such a fun bit of footage :).

  • When did this happen?

We are DWA members and we've wondered why the otter display has been otterless until recently.

  • Hah. Otters. Whadyagonnado?

  • That otter looks very pleased with itself!

  • omg, I've been there. We went there when we had a German exchange student at our house and I think I might've also went there for a feild trip too but my memory is bad.

The otter is cute. It reminds me of my ferret only bigger and stuff.

  • Umm I work at the DWA and my boss told me about this video. All the people who try to touch it are stupid because she could have bitten their hand off(I'm assuming this is Muneca and not Carlos). The Giant River Otters can be very aggressive animals.

  • Yay otters!

Loved the one that made an escape into Jay Leno's audience 2 weeks ago too :P

  • I was one of the teachers on this field trip. We were standing right by the waterfall when the otter made her escape. At first, we thought she was cute, too. Then, she jumped up and bit one of my student's mom. She jumped on another student's grandfather, as well. That is when the screaming started. My husband is the guy in the black T-Shirt. It jumped on him, too. As scary as it was for our kids, they will ALWAYS remember their trip to the Dallas World Aquarium!!!!

  • Why am I not buying the bull you're dishin' out?

  • She is cute! No one was scared until she bit my buttocks. Too bad they didn't get that on video! I have a really nasty bruise and the imprint of six teeth as a souvenir.

  • mmm viral potential. Cute otter.

  • cute it may be

    Otters can be quite vicious.

They where right to be cautious.

Did they ever get it back.

  • Yes they got it captured, and you are right about them being vicious. These things are 6 ft long 200 lb wild animals and can kill you. They are only cute when they are not attacking you.

  • Well thank god that this one was just being really playful and friendly

  • 200lbs?? Uh, dude have you ever SEEN an otter? Try 20lbs. It almost sounds like you're talking about a sea lion or something. A river otter is basically an overgrown ferret-- it can and will nip you if it feels like it, but it's like getting bit by a smallish dog. It's not going to kill anybody, not even a little kid.

  • Er, I stand corrected-- it's not a river otter, it's a Giant otter. So they top out at 60 pounds, not 20. Still not going to eat anybody.

  • Yeah, they calmed it down in the girl's restroom and got it back safely

  • I guess otters dont automaticlly strike the crotch. cool....

  • Aww!!11 x5

That's awesome. Grats on getting some excellent footage of a rare, hilarious moment.

  • how cute!!! can't believe people are scared of such a cute little creature!

  • I think it's the fact that the crazy lady in pink was making the kids scared

  • the kids were scared because the otter jumped on and bit one of the chaperones with our group!

  • She is cute! No one was scared until she bit my buttocks!

  • A 6 foot long, 200 lb otter that can and will attack you is cute?

  • yes its very cute :D

  • Does that thing look like it's 200lbs to you?? Get your eyes checked!

  • Chriiiis whats this sweet song?

  • It's hard to name, so just check the description for the video cuz I edited the page :B

  • asdfjkl;

    THAT OTTER IS SO CUTE. ;3;

  • Silly how people get.

  • Awesomeness.

  • in before featured

  • So awesome.
