Awesome video - HOW did they get the sound quality to be so fabulous? It's got such a real life feel without being dirty at all, you can even hear the bottles clinking in the kitchen. My hat's off to whoever shot this thing!
@Bihblaack009 Of course, technically this isn't a cover because he wrote and produced this song for Ray Charles. "Poet of the Blues" is a collection of Percy Mayfield's works from the 50's and it contains the 1950 #1 hit "Please Send Me Someone to Love". The entire album is great and the music is so far ahead of it's time. Mr.Mayfield, apparently, was in a near fatal car accident a few years after his hay-day, around '51, and was physically disfigured.
wow that is the coolest thing i've ever seen ! only one vid of the great Percy Mayfield on youtube and what a candid view it is ! thanks for posting that ! more please ....
Hi Folks, This is Fabulous! Is it Mark Naftlin? He was the keyboard guy for the greatest of all whiteboy bluesbands, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. He's playing the real deal here. Percy Mayfield is 'The Poet.' Oh to be a fly on the wall. Jay
It's not Nafatlin, it's Mark Naftalin. He played keyboard on Dylan's first electric tour. Faced all the same booing. Now runs a blues label. Check him out. Good stuff.
Looks like Percy drinks White Russians!

I Performed with Percy several times during the late 70's.
Great guy,................ the booze killed him.
It's awesome that this video exits so that the younger musicians can experience his relaxed soulful style!
5 stars......
