Backstabbing is a viable strategy, it requires timing and speed and leaves the player open to swing attacks and AoEs. Tanking with the DWG Ring is the most overpowered and unfair build in my opinion. Everyone uses it on XBL and it's ridiculous. It takes less skill than miracle spam, and it has no weakness to any other build, so it has no opposition.

Now that's a fucking fight. It's the reason I sit through millions of giants armor, black knight great axe, wog, backstab, some derpy looking childs mask, stamina boosting shield, green moss, wood grain ring, phantom buddy ass rape, pvps.

backstabbing no skill involved simply because alot of people rely on it way to much just in to win a match which is simply pathetic however parry does involve skill its a gamble. now pvping with large weapons i find it pretty boring taking huge risks your only able to dish out two attacks then boom your stamina depletes the attack speed is slow and some attacks dont seem to register when you nip your opponent not to mention if you where up against a magician and you missed that shot your done

That's obviously not what this game is about since FROM went out of there way to give you far more choices on what style of character to make than just a tanking meathead. I get that poise is important and should be a consideration for most characters, but not all styles have that luxury. Deal with it.

@TheDustyChinchilla And just to clarify, I'm sure we share the same opinion on certain things in this game being cheap. However, backstabbing is not one of them. If you get backstabbed it's your own fault. This game shouldn't even be taken that seriously for pvp considering the connections are inconsistent.

@Rachis01 yeah i get what youre saying. i get that a tank isnt the only class in dark souls and thats understandable. and yes backstabs are part of the game, hell ive backstabbed sometimes when the opportunity arises. but when backstabs are ALL someone does, and its impossible to avoid cuz the person is so freaking fast, then it gets ridiculous.

What they need to do is fix DWG ring.

the only way to flip is to equip gear thats no more than 5 or 6lbs, including weaps and shields. So people that want to use backstab and speed to an advantage using light gear like daggers, swords katanas, etc,and those who want poise and power weapons can strike without flinching.

That would fix alot in PvP because im tired of seeing Havel the rock moving as fast as a thief, cartwheeling with 20lb weaps, it just unreal lol.

@TJD005 Honestly if they have invested that many points into endurance, and use either havels ring of the ring of favor and protection, they have lost out valuable soul levels along with a great ring slot. Removing this aspect would upset way too many people and semi-heavy builds that could flip now and then couldnt would have to completely remodel their builds.

Its not fair to players who like to wear lighter armor with less poise for speed when ppl use the BIGGEST armor and for the most poise and BIG weaps to flinch and they still move as fast as a person wearing light armor.

You wouldnt have to re-build, ud be at the normal running speed which isnt isnt bad bc I play at a normal speed and kill.

@TheSakustar Lol all that i'm saying is heavy builds arent meant to move incredibly fast like some ppl who abuse the DWGR thats why they are HEAVY BUILDS XD. You give up speed for bulk and power thats the whole purpose of heavy building.

A medium build flipping sure, like DK or Shiny brass etc. Havel the Rock with huge weaps + DWGR is something I see in every invasion. It breaks the diversity in PvP style. Big builds shouldn't be immobile. They shouldnt move about like a ninja...

@Damianisawesome Ud still have to waste souls to boost endurance enough for u to flip in the first place. Endurance WILL take some souls bc its an important stat.

Better yet, your equipment load shouldn't pass over a certain weight to flip like 40lbs or 50lbs, rather than it has to be 50% of your maximum equipment load. That way ppl wouldnt cheese their builds by getting massive amount of poise, fastest speed, and the BIGGEST weaps to overpower a build.

@TJD005 The main point i was trying to get across is that in order to wield these 25pnd weps you need a good 45-50 strength. If you are gonna use these weapons your probably gonna want a good chunk of vit so lets say 40-50. If you want to use any decent magics at all your gonna want 30-40 in your magic of your choosing. Dextrerity is needed around 20 for weaponry. If you cram all your other points into Endurance you wont have enough to do these rolls. You have to take from other stats just to

@TJD005 flip. When i go into pvp i use hornets ring and DWGR. I have no room for havels or ROFAP rings. Its for these reasons that if these people are willing to weaken their other abilities to roll, they should be allowed to.

@Fracturedghost I agree, TwoP or WoG can be nasty too, but in a lot of situations (e.g. you're not fighting with a very narrow area like a bridge or something) they are easier to dodge that a backstab (or just outrun a TwoP, since it lasts something like 10 seconds?).

When I dodge a rocket in Team Fortress 2...I dodge a rocket...when I evade/parry a slow-ass Ultra Greatsword in Dark Souls, I fall to the ground randomly...

@Astaticembrace Well parrying all depends on what you parry with. It does require truck loads of hp in case of a failed parry, timing the parry based on the opposing weap in PvP, and not to mention lag blowing a parry attempt...

My straight sword build uses a parry shield & Chaos Darksword +5. I parry all the time with it especially DK Greataxe users. The axe flies right onto the protrusion for a parry.

I only use ROFP to bumb hp to 1700+. Then Tearstones or alternate ring.

1. Lag can't be helped

2. Don't fish for backstabs by circle strafing if your opponent is circle strafing too. That's just asking to get lagstabbed. It's a very common issue, too.

With wolf ring (or some heavy armor and DWG ring) I dont care about hitboxes, spells and any other sheetz because I can always tank first 1-2 hit(s) and...voila! I'm perfectly positioned behind your back. You call pressing 3 buttons skill? (Direction + sprint + R1)
