I have always been teased by family because I look like some of girls on the book cover of some the Barbara Cartland books. Considering that, I have always tried to be the opposite of the "angelic" persona and how quickly the heroines give in when "commanded" to do somthing.
But I will admit if Lord Vulcan commanded me to "come here" I probably would have. lol
Yes I remember that poisoned dress from the first Elizabeth! So why couldn't Serena close and lock a door behind her as an obstacle for her future mother-in-law?
He would need a special license for one of two reasons:
1. He wanted to get married quickly, when normally law required a long engagement after the banns had been declared.
2. If she's still underage (probably 17). Although then she would have to have a guardian's permission, which is Justin, I suppose (fortunately for him). Or they could have gone to Scotland where it was much easier to get marriage licenses.
I LOVE the touch of comic relief when Lady Isabel suddenly sees Nicholas with new eyes when he finally stands up to her, yells at her, tells her that he's had enough, and then kisses her! I know it's trite and something of a cliche, but it's still funny -- and there's no denying the fact that there are some women like that, who foolishly only want a man whom they know they can't have.
The books ending was better, It is disturbing how from this point they choose to change the ending for something more mellow dramatic. I don't remember every thing because I read this book while I was in middle school. But the ending in the book was better.

past. The husband's word was law, the children were his, not the wife's, and if the husband died the inheritance went to the next male in line in the family, not the wife.

He's a little naive. He knew the mother already tried to sell her off to Ruten, and is really upset with him. He should have had her wait and then accompanied her. She's already compromised.

isabel is soooo stupid! She doesn't deserve Nicholas but oh well, at least Serena got her man! If it weren't for the both of them, this show's not worth watching

Hey, it Barbara Cartland, friend. It's all about helpless and dimwitted young girls marrying rich and rightful and powerful young (or less young) men. Once you've gotten over that, it's kinda funny to watch. Lol.
not dimwitted- innocent and niave. Lets face it she was Princess Diana's godmother. She totally believed in romance- manly men who just needed the love and trust of an innocent (but brave) young lady to bring out the best in them. Oh if life was like that!

That little toss of his head and his 'Huh!' when he's through kissing her is the best! ROTFL! Loved it!
