isn´t it easier to count from 1 to 8 instead of counting from 1 to4? there are hardly changes after 3 bars... so you can count "double bars" for me it makes it a lot easier. greets
What ever works for you. There isn't one way of doing things. Just use what info you can and then make it work for you. This is just the way that worked for me. Maybe it will help others out and then they can use what helps them to help others.
It's not going to matter what you start with. Just learn your beat matching and keep practicing. When you switch gear it might take you a little time to get used to the feel of that gear, but you will get used to it. What's important is to keep practicing and know your music. You will be fine when you decide to get something new.
That's fine also. There isn't one way to learn to mix. I'm just showing another way that is slightly different. I never got used to counting that way. Another way I help myself stay on beat is to move with the music. Take whatever information you can from as many dj's you can. Use what works for you and make it your own. Peace.
I definately recommend recording yourself. Probably everytime. ANd people dont need some really expensive recording device. I use a Sony mp3 IC Recorder and select "audio in" and run audio cables from the mixer into it. And it works fine, just dont turn the mixer up all the way. I paid like around $100 for it.
Also, there are other ways to mix. Just bought equipment and never asked anyone about mixing and just tried to figure it out on my own, which i think helped give me my own style.
Good info. I agree with you. I learned on my own and these are just different tips on your way to mixing. As you get better you start to see what works for you. As for recording, you can download Audacity for free. Just connect from your mixer to your pc / laptop.
quick question..instead of lowering the bass and highering it..do u think i can use the kill on the basses??..or does not make it sound the same as lowering it and etc?..
Question: with a song that has vocals, do you like to mixing the next song after the chorus or when the chorus began's so that after the chorus ends, you fade into the next song? Hope I explain my question well enough for you to understand. :)
This was very helpful! If you dont move the crossfader, how do you make the song that your going into (song B) sound strong. I tried it on my mixer to do what you say here to do and raise the volumue only, it doesnt sound as strong as if I use the crossfader. Just was wondering what you may think, Thanks!
I think the problem is that you haven't equalized the songs volumes, basically use the "gain" or "trim" from your channel. Songs are recorded on different volumes, so check the volume bars and make them even, through the headphones you can listen if both (or more) songs are playing at the same lvl. hope I helped
hey THANK YOU nobody ever told me about taken the base on one deck and puting the other one thank you man im glad i suscribe please upload more videos
Awesome tutorial! I watched your future beatmakers vid. I would love to join in but I am just starting to try remixing and producing. Not sure if you guys would be interested in makin a set of vids on that. I'm sure it may be a long process but n e thing to start with would be great. Thanks so much for helping out.
Well done Dj's! One of, if not the best tutorial I have watched. It shows that you put time and effort into making this. Great communication and explanation. I am very impressed! Not that I wasn't watching before, but this adds exactly what all Dj's need, a great community and source. Looking forward to the next one!
guys, this is the best tutorial on mixing bar none. and i've seen plenty of these, none of them covered that many important aspects of mixing. mixing music using bars, mixing in songs with little bass, slowly bring them in and switch. i'm sold on this, subscribed. make more of these, and if you need topics for them try covering this:
very well explained!!

How do you figure is the best time to actually play another song?
Like looping one bar, when do you figure to play that 4 beat loop? Any tips?
