It saddens me...don't know too much about the revolution, but it seems to me that the US would NOT help Grenada in any real and feasible way AND they would NOT allow Grenada to seek that help from other counties...it think this invasion, it's assassinations and killings was unjust! A black eye for the US!
WHAT?? metsdudenj u have no idea wat u r talking about. IN FACT THE GRENADIAN PEOPLE THANKS THE CUBAN GOV. AND IT'S PEOPLE for building the MAURICE BISHOP Intl. airport. CUBA is and will always be a FRIEND to GRENADA.
You are welcome Grenada for the liberation and the deposal of that ridiculous Marxist..Cuba planned to make you a satellite, and as a result, the other nations nearby had to invade to protect peace in the region
The Cuban airfield there was to fuel revolution to other parts of the Caribbean and Central America. It was also rumored to be a base for intelligenica against the USA and the other defenseless islands nearby. Cuba had no right to enter the US sphere of influence. As a result, they were defeated and Marxism died forever in Grenada. A blessed moment in the history of US Caribbean relations. God Bless the USA, the soldiers who participated, Ronald Reagan and the Grenadian people who supported us!
Excuse me asshole--but I missed the part where USA has divine right to intervene in Caribbean affairs-more so than say, a FUCKING CARIBBEAN nation has--like Cuba.
I see you like rumors rather than facts; Reagan lied many times through his teeth.
Youre excused, cock breath. The US has every right to guarantee its safety in its area of hegemony. Cuba, is small, communist, and tries to export communism. As Puerto Rico and the Virgin Island are our territory, we need to protect that as well. Law of Nature, BIG country, BIG influence, BIG STICK. Get over yourself and get over the whole equal rights for all countries. That only happens in the playground.
Wrong there buddy, the only one blowing their dads are the third world losers like yourself.....anything to make a buck to buy rice and beans for your famly. If anyone cruises the playgrounds, it is you as you try to get in teenage boys pants as you give out your Communist and other anti imperialist pamphlets, about which NO ONE cares. Keep pretending you are important and a political renegade and maybe you can be in a Cuban propaganda movie
but sr1m is the party to take spice isle to a new level as this is the movement which started grenada in d 1st place bishop actualy used all our moverments mandate he just never executed as he should of but we wont make the same mistake led by a MARRYSHOW we shall sweep in 2 power wit in 5 yrs vote sr1m nxt elections all greenz fam

Are there any Grenadian posters here who participated in the 1983 american invasion of Grenada?
I'm looking for any former Grenadian veteran soldiers who may have answers to some of my questions in regards to that conflict. To this very day information on that conflict is still classified and has never been disclosed to the public. One of my questions is: Did Grenadian forces amass down at a beach located directly below the spice island radio station on the second evening of the conflict?
It was around that time, he met Bernard Coard who had become heavily influenced with Marxist propaganda.
Coard's family had neither the money nor prestige that Bishop's family had. When he was a child, he would be one of the little black boys who would retrieve the tennis balls for the rich white landowners.
Coard introduced Bishop to Marx's writings and well, the rest is history.
Bishop's biggest mistake was overthrowing a legitimate government. He would've won the next elections.
My dad used to be friends with Bishop, and Rupert Bishop was his godfather. My dad gave me insight that explains why he went down the path he did.
Unlike the other islands of the Caribbean, Grenada does not have racial prejudice. Bishop came from a highly respectable, aristocratic family and grew up with people of all races.
However, when he went to study Law in England, he received a very rude awakening that the people there considered him less then equal because he was a coloured man.
This DOES NOT MENTION ANYTHING about WHY the U.S. INVADED Grenada!!!!!! Was it just because Bishop was friends with the GREAT CASTRO? Of course there's more to it. . . Right? YEAH RIGHT
And some one thought this was good of the US to stick their NOSE into this country. Can you say BRAINWAHSED. LOL!
Jeez...where the hell do some of you get your history?
Recall the era well...in fact, most Grenadians were deeply suspicious of the Castro Regime and its plans--once that Airport was completed.
Parallels thought sof most Cubans for Hugo Chavez--there it goes a step further--kind of an insipid distrust for what he thinks he can do.
No love for USA governments--that is known--still, all that Marxist crap is done and over --
Maurice Bishop--a disaster definitely averted!!

Just like he purportedly won the elections of '76? Right...

By the way, Bishop would have met Coard during their time together at Grenada Boys Secondary School.

Oh yes, I forgot to put that in. My grandfather taught Coard and Bishop at one point.
But when abroad, they did get involved with Marxist ideology. Bad stuff.

Well, Sir Paul Scoon and others did strongly opine that Gairy did win the elections but by a narrow margin.
