  • Can it fit on 18" radius curves ???

  • @gaykirk1701 Yes.

  • @v12aston Did this one have Sound/DCC On Board?

  • @Fireheart528 Yes.

  • @v12aston Thanks. Would you mind listing all the buttons to control these functions? I keep forgetting them.

  • @Fireheart528 F0-HEADLIGHT, F1-BELL, F2-WHISTLE, F3-SHORT WHISTLE, F4-STEAM RELEASE, F5-DYNAMO, F6-WATER STOP, F7-COUPLER CLANK, F8-MUTE. Sorry for the late reply.

  • @gaykirk1701 yes

  • These are excellent engines for the price. I've got MEC 507 like this with the Tsunami sound in it. The only thing is I wish the headlight was brighter, & maybe a tender light on the back would be good also. Check out my video response.

  • @GP9railfan They are great engines, and I agree, a tender light would be nice. Nice video response.

  • @v12aston Indeed. Thanks.

  • @GP9railfan i have a rare wm #744 2-8-0 found it at a train show for $140.00 lucky me. but its a old one

  • @IraDeathViper Cool. $140 eh? It must have a Tsunami decoder in it for that much money. I paid $149 (new) for the one in my video response. Almost $85 off the retail price, and I couldn't pass that deal up, especially a loco in my fave RR, even if it is a steamer. Hehe.

  • The third whistle is on my frisco 1630 p.s. how u change whistle?

  • I'm pretty sure that the different whistles can be changed with the values of CV 115.

  • @v12aston is that on dvd file or can u change it with the controller

  • I use a Digital Command Control (DCC) system, so the configuration variables (CVs) in the model can be changed with the DCC controller.

  • @v12aston not to be a pain in all but idk what u mean dcc system? i have dcc controller but dcc system is a confused face to me? is digitraxx dcc system if it is i'll buy one then.

  • If you have a DCC controller then you should be able to change the configuration variables.

  • @v12aston so yuor saying my ez-controller should or might do it

  • Yes I think the ez-controller will do programming, but definitely check the manual.

  • @v12aston opps never mind the dynamis controller does it it can progam the CV's thanks for these tips

  • Can you do all this on E-Z Command Digital Command Control System?? Like the different Whistles? And if not how to do so? Thanks and great demo!

  • I personally use a Digitrax DCC system to control and program my locomotives, so I am not very familiar with the E-Z Command system. However, from what I have read this is possible. But, I have never used the system myself so I do not know its exact capabilities.

  • @v12aston Thanks!

  • what scale is this loco? 1/20.3 or ...

it looks very nice but the sound is like over hearing

struggles in a public bathroom esp. the water part

and then, the door gets slammed (johnson's bar)

  • HO Scale 1/87.

  • hey bro sorry to bug you again i just got mine in the mail today and was wondering if you had problems with the wires in between the engine and the tender and if so how did u fix it

  • No problem. Thinking back I did have a little bit of trouble with the wires, but I don't remember why the problem stopped. I think I just positioned the wires in such a way that they would not touch the ground.

  • @v12aston I own the UP #724 version with "The Explorer" train set. I have found that the only thing you can do is mess with it a little and eventually you'll get it right. I don't mess with it often as I normally store the loco and tender still connected together.

  • ok i'm really considering picking one of these up can you tell me how it's doing performance wise after u made this video over a yeqr ago and would u still recomend the train thanks Rrk1937

  • It still is running very well. I rarely have to clean the wheels and the engine runs very smooth. I would absolutely recommend this model.

  • @Railroadkid1937 I have Wasted hundreds of dollars on Bachmann JUNK. Stay Away from Bachmann. When they break, you gotta send them directly to Bachmann. The Spectrum series Steam cost $45 to have repaired/replaced. Go with Athearn or Life-Like Proto series.

  • @Newport1974 I won't deny that Bachmann has quality control issues and that you are probably better off with manufacturers like Athearn, but if you know how to do repair work yourself they will often send small parts (couplers, coupler "holder" parts, etc.) for free or for fairly cheap. My 2-8-0 has a "rubber band" drive that needed a new belt almost immediately, but I got the part cheap and it wasn't that difficult to replace.

  • @longhornandsouthern I have Four engines that need to be sent in to Bachmann. They are older and have issues. They told me on the phone they will just replace them ehich is a good thing because they are all Bachmann Plus which means they will send me all Spectrum replacements.

  • @Newport1974 I am surprised at the number of locomotives that need repair, but ya can't beat $45 or less for brand new Spectrum replacements.

  • do you think it can go around 18 inch curves?

  • Yes.

  • I'm just finishing my layout and am turning my attention to my roster of locomotives. i'm doing the southern railroad in the late 40's. i really want a locomotive like this one, what was the price you paid, if you don't mind me asking?

  • I paid about $216.00. Also, I got it at discounttrainsonline, com, which I think still has it in stock.

  • @smsw1516 is the 1000 Mid steam unit ? sounds great .

  • @Dawgie101 yeah, me too, i believe that its close to the southern pacific 4449

  • where did you get the sound? I can't find any DCC with sound.

  • I got mine at discounttrainsonline,com

  • @v12aston Thanks. I found it!

  • @ssstnh1996 I beleive they stopped making them with sound...you could always buy the dcc version then buy a sound system from tsunami..If you did that it would probably about the same price as buying one with sound in it

  • @abrownyo That makess sense. I'll try that and see what works on my budget or what I can find.

  • @ssstnh1996 ok cool

  • did this come with sound?

  • Yes

  • I don't understand. I just bought the Athearn Genesis Big Boy with the Soundtraxx Tsunami and returned it because it sounded so awful--I mean really, really bad. Only three whistles to choose from and they all sounded horrible. But yours sounds so great! I am so confused. Can someone help me?? I want great sound like this and thought the tsunami was supposed to be THE one. But I've heard others that sound bad too--why does yours sound so good??

  • I'm not sure. I guess I just got lucky and chose the right one. But your right it seems like Tsunami is THE one. I personally would buy a model over another one if it had Tsunami sound.

  • do these have dcc on bored decoders?

  • yes

  • thanks i am getting this ! thanks for posting the videos of the 2-8-0 and more! keep em' coming

  • that is heck of a loco

  • Did yours come stock with a decoder? Mine did, but it says Bachmann on the vinyl covering it. Are they made by soundtraxx for Bachmann?

  • Yeah mine came with the decoder factory installed. I think the decoders are made by Soundtraxx for Bachmann, though I think that you can buy Soundtraxx decoders for different makes of models that do not have sound already installed.

  • So this is G scale then?

  • Actually it's HO Scale.

  • Good Lord Almighty!!! What a great engine!!! A small action packed steam train!

  • Yeah it's an awesome model!

  • Thank god nothing will change on the 2-8-0 when it gets demoted to the Standard line.

  • Yeah it's a great model and sounds great too.
