I know that you have put not to ask you about this transmitter, but can you please give me a bit of help on what web site to look at to make a transmitting station a bit like thw one you have made :o)
@PistolPete2 Christ......they say Dutch (i think the Frisian dialect too) and German is close to English.....i understood everthing you wrote there....About the fuse and bulb ect.
What's the song @ 5.25? That's a great installation you done :)... The only dutch pirate i could hear is AM ones... during evening/nights in Winters as it's far :(.
Technically its not illegal. noone can ban you from transmitting something long range or short range over the radio because you built the radio and noone owns radio waves its a stupid concept.
you cant ban something that anyon could have used a long time ago
technically, it is illegal, over a certain wattage without a license from the FCC (here in the states). sure it's a stupid concept, but rules are rules.
I totally agree with you. I think if have the means, and use it responsibly IE not interferring with other broadcasts, then you should be allowed by law to broadcast without a license. But the reality is that you can't. I was just pointing out the fact that it IS illegal to transmit without a license, whether you agree with the logic of it or not.
I am working on building a community radio station (they are legal in Canada provided you get a permit or stay under a certain power) I was interested in getting info on the build as I was looking to make the transmitter. If that is out of the question there is a second thing I would like to ask; where did you get the waterproof housing? it looks better than some of the ones I have seen around.
@soldeerboutje Whats the range on it mate? What would i need for about 40miles?(PM me if needs be). Im also in a coastal area so how do i check for coast gaurd frequencies ect, lifeboat and maritime rescue?
Doing pirate radio seems to be a dutch tradition. I remember listening to dutch pirate radio when I was a kid. No commercials and allways the best music.
@conoba You were not in London then in the early nineties then......Touchdown 94.1 (my number 1) and Don 105.8 FM (which was good but jungle saturated, i was into the old skool hardcore and darkcore).
aha yeah i get u now but... is it really that important? i've done soldering before without one... i've always used lead free solder though. i'd probably try avoiding inhaling the fumes if it had lead in it, but i dunno lol.
thats very cool I wish i had that but i wouldn't want the FCC knockin on my door, but if you had lots of security like armed guards and 24 hour surveillance cameras you might be able to stay on the air. or just do it in a rural area away from the FCC.
im starting one soon order all good stuff in 3 days and all should be at my house in like 3 weeks. uh gonna have fun time the transmitter will be 5watts and im getting it on ebay for 80 buck and getting a 5/8 dipole for 130 . its gonna be like 30 to 40 feet, so should get atlest 4 miles out of it
The antennas gonna be broken on the way, made really badly and always breaks. The transmitter has poor quality and splatters all over the dial. Poor stereo encoder and no limiter will cause interference to other frequencys
thanks for the tip, i've stoped the order because one of my dads friend got raided and they took all hes equipment and he had like a 250 watt and a pretty big antenna so he lost a lot of money
that is a difficult one to answer, depends in various things, would think at 35 watts over flattish terrain with a good high vertical antenor that one would get a blanket coverage of about 4 miles maybe on a car radio of quite reasonable reception, more with a yagi ant. not an expert on that though
I think they need a lotta folk's like that in the US. Please place 500,000 of those transmmiters all around the US. Put those louwsy wirthless FCC workers to work.We pay taxes for public airwaves . Job security for the FCC.
pure genius. i wish had the skills n understanding to make that. i bought my rig off ebay n amp from NRG . the only thing i made is the low pass filter lol. max respect ... p.s. make me 1 plz

How many hours of programing can the disk hold before it loops back through? I hiding in plain sight enclosure I assume.

@5lkk It depends on the capacity of the disk and the encoding format.

With only 5w and a good sized antenna (5/8 wave) should cover at least 60km over flat ground
if the antenna is up at least 20ft
