ok, it's a decent recordable sound, but the Les Paul does not sound like a Les Paul, it sounds like a Blackstar amp, the amp seems to over ride the guitar, the character of the guitar is lost, that's an r7, it could be an Epiphone to my ears.
It's a good budget amplifier that delivers high gain at reasonable cost, so i applaud it for that, but sorry, it's not for me, i would rather keep saving and pay through the nose for an amp that retains the subtleties of a great guitar - nicely played.
Nice playing mate. Is this really the sound of just the amp being recored straight into your computer, no effects or anything? Would you recommend this amp? I need an amp for practice and recording so would this do the trick? Cheers
wow, very nice! nice playing and great tone from this thing. Its hard to believe you get these good of sounds from the line out without any manipulation. Cool!
Hey! Cool demo! Just got my HT-5 head, but I have no cabinet.. I'll use the lineout for recording, but do I need to have a cabinet connected in order not to damage the amp? Thanks ;-)
WOW. Now I'm confused again. I was going to get a Vox. Going back and forth on this for weeks. I definately need to be able to record direct and this is great for small shows too...aah!
Hi man what kind of cable do you use to connect your ht5 to the BR600, is it a stereo out trs or mono. Im considering getting one of these instead of a spider iv 75. i would be plugging into my macs stereo line in or possibly a zoom mrs 8
Like the phrasing! Do you remember what settings on your amp you were using to get that lead tone or is that just the Les Paul tone? I have the combo and a Schecter Blackjack and am trying to get a good lead tone like you are getting here with the Les Paul.
Man, I love your style, It's freaking great- nice finger work. .
In ten days I'm visiting in Boston and picking up mine- I ordered few weeks ago from GC. I have a new Marshall Vintage Modern 100w but really looking forward to this little monster.
A line or instrument level input? I've tried recordong via an M Audio FW 410 soundcard but the signal is just too hot unless I have the volume right down on the amp?
does this amp have a true tube pre-amp or is it a hybrid? I think I heard it has only 1 12ax7 tube... so I'm not sure if that could be for both the pre-amp and phase splitter or just the splitter? In other words, is the line out coming from a solid state preamp or a tube preamp?
My god! These tones are insane!!!! I was looking for a tiny teror but man! For half of the price you got 2 channels, effect loop, direct line out, and this uk/usa setting!... very interesting! thanks for posting this! great job!
Very nice playing and tone! I'm looking to pick one of these up soon. The ONLY hesitation was that it had no option of using the line out AND the speaker at the same time if I wanted. I love the idea of silent recording but want the ability to use the amp for low stage volume while also running direct w/o having to mic it. I emailed Blackstar and they said it's an easy mod to add the option of a speaker on/off switch. Made my day!
That's a pretty good sound for an emulated line out! If you put that through a PA in a live situation it would sound even better and the mix engineer would thank you, too!
Easy. When you have a "normal" line out, the sound on a mixer/console is awfull, because you have the sound of the amplifier ... but not of the speaker! And the speaker plays a MAJOR role in the final sound. So here, you have a line out WITH a speaker emulation - so the direct sound you get at the mixer or console is as close as possible to the same amp miked.
So a question... is this really an all tube amp, or is the Blackstar HT-5 a solid-state preamp section goosed a preamp tube, then sent to a power tube?
I'm actually pretty darn impressed with the line out recording. Of course, tone is in the hands - nice work!

it's a tube/ss hybrid. the kind of gain coming from that amp is not possible with just one preamp tube, especially with a TMB tone stack. either way, who cares. it sounds good.

It has a 12AX7 and a 12BH7 tube. The latter is the one is wired in push-pull configuration to impliment the special tone function the amp has.
