Clockman enjoys stealing kids from their rooms and taking them on "adventures". That sick fuck. He has penetrated the assholes of little boys and for that he must die!
OMFG i have been searching for this clip for YEEEEARS. Everyone I asked about it thought I was crazy! But I lost so much sleep as a kid cuz of this video... my baseboard heater sounded EXACTLY like the ragman's cane so i always thought he was comin to get me cuz I was still awake!!!
this movie scared the shit our of me when i was a kid. it kept me awake at night, which i guess is pretty much the opposite effect it was supposed to inspire for little kids. and i pretty much assumed i was a bad kid so i was genuinely convinced the rag man was going to get me. upload the full movie if you have it please! i love revisiting old nightmares lol.
is this the one where it shows, like, a queen or king rat w/2 heads??? I'm trying to find which one it is...i think it's this one. scared me so much as a kid lol
I think it was done by Sanrio. There's even a Hello Kitty cameo towards the end of the film. The whole film is really...different...and worth the watch if only to hear Christopher Lee voice multiple characters. I lost the video file otherwise I'd post the rest on here for you.
@teatroragazza Yes, you are correct. Many people thought and mistakenly identified Nutcracker Fantasy as Rankin-Bass because the stop-motion animation. However, Takeo Nakamura, director of Nutcracker Fantasy also did work for Rankin-Bass. My question for Nutcracker Fantasy: Does it count as anime? It was done in Japan and it's not traditional animation like most anime, and I wonder does it count as anime.
Question: Who made this movie? It looks like Rakin/Bass, the same people who made "Rudolph", and "The Little Drummer Boy", but I also heard it was Japanese. So who made it?
It also looks interesting enough... Maybe I'll check it out come December; to see if its good or bad.
I loved this movie as a child, yes the beginning scaried me but after watching it once I knew when the scary scenes were coming. Plz post more if possible. I love this movie...been wanting to find it on DVD.
haha! you're description is the best! I have spent about two hours trying to find this based on my haunted memory of this creepy movie that scared the shit out me as a child. Had to find it.
Fucking hell, these are the 2 and a half minute which caused so many sleepless nights of terror during my childhood that I'm willing to be my severe insomnia can be traced directly to it.
The Exorcist, The Shining and the Silence of the Lambs only wish they could be this scary.

FOUND IT YES FINALLY ! ! ! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS. Christmas after christmas I had trouble finding this version of the Nutcracker I saw it when I was like six or seven, BUT I NEVER FORGOT THE KING RAT ! ! It freaked me out as a kid! It has two heads right that's what I remember. Thank you again I've been wanting to show this to my kids LOL.
WOW!!!!!!! I've forgot all about this awesome movie... it was one of my super favorites as a kid :D now that i look at it, its a bit creepy.. lol im surprised it never gave me nightmares.. i always wanted to watch it again and again :) I must find it and buy it! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Holy Crap! I've been looking for this for a long time! This messed my whole life up!!!Whoever made this cartoon has a seat reserved for them in hell. The evil music right when the kid is getting turned into a mouse kills me.
OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS MOVIE FOR YEARS!! I am always singing that weird "dance of the dolls" song around christmas and no one has any idea what I'm talking about. What a dark version of the nutcracker, thank god i wasn't the only one traumatized.
I saw this as a child and it's still on an old recorded vhs tape among my collection. Fortunately I was fearless as a kid and nothing scared me. I just watched the tape again recently and the only part of the movie that seemed creepy to me was at the part with the fortune teller when her eyes start to glow. That part looks freakier to me even now. I wish the movie was on dvd too. The tape's so old.
I remember thinking about the ragman at night as a child trying to get to sleep fast lol Its a great propaganda piece on behalf of the parents, traumatizing too lol
This TERRIFIED me when i was a kid, actually had nightmares when i was little about the Ragman getting me. The rest of the film is fantastic though! Loved every minute. Cannot find it ANYWHERE though in the UK. i had an old video cassette of it which my combi chewed up :/
@AscensionBandUK This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, too. I never wanted to stay up late after seeing that. I couldn't remember any other part of the movie except for the beginning so I never wanted to watch it again. I may still have the BetaMax tape somewhere, but it's not like I'd be able to watch it.
i can't believe i found this. this scared the s$%t out of me when i was a little kid. really... i can't believe this is on here lol. many nights i remember being afraid that that old bastard would appear outside my bedroom window lol!
Memories! Worst was during daylight saving when I couldn't sleep while it was still light.Stapled my bedroom curtains shut so Ragman wouldn't see .Now I can see he's just an old geezer like the Hitcher on Mighty Boosh.
I cant believe I found this :) When me and my lil brother got home from the movies and got into bed that night we had the cover pulled over our heads and we just looked at each other! Didnt make a peep :( I knew what he was thinking and he knew what I was thinking but I did't even want to bring it up:(
I was beside myself when I watched this for the first time. And y'know, I can remeber there being a quater moon outside that same evening that was reddish. I was 5.
One of two things that scared me half to death when I was little. That little unexpected trip to hell at the end of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride being the second. Look back on it now and you realize how much perceptions change as you age.
Good grief, I remember this so clearly. It scared the pants off me. I never finished the movie, so I never understood what this little mind scarring gem had to do with anything.
Finally found the name to this, and happy that I found anything that goes along with it. I've had the one song stuck in my head for years, and now I'm on a mission to find the song. Yes, it was a bit scary, but I loved it.
You're out of your mind. The stop motion is what makes this movie great. If they tried to remake it they'd just fuck it up like they do with all the other piece of shit remakes that are coming out these days. They need to learn to leave movies alone. If you don't want to see the original, than you don't deserve to see the movie at all.
lmao.I use to love this as a child!!!!lol.I would sing tick tock tee and my mom tried to pull that rag man shit on me when I was little...lol....I'm weird I thought morgana cool..dorky me!
Very glad you're creeped out. Hoffman wrote the originals as horror stories INCLUDING Nutcracker. He'd scare his self so badly sometimes he couldn't finish writing unless his wife was holding his hand.
The ragman was like the bane of my childhood! I used to watch this over and over but i only had a portion of the movie on tape at my grandmas house...still think the ragman is scary!
Seriously. This was the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. As a child or adult. I recently watched the movie and became instantly terrified again. It's a pavlovian response I hear that music and the hair on my neck stands up. no joke!
cant believe i used to shit it at this part of the film lol was only a kid but i had some fun a few years later wen i used to scare me brother to sleep lol.
Watching this scene was the equivalent to watching a horror movie when I was a kid. The creppy ominous music in combination with the dark animation SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. LOL
I loved this film when I was young, so good to find a bit of it on here! For years I went to bed on time because of the rag man! Where can I find a good quality version of the full movie? I must have it!
I wasn't 2years old but i was definitely a lil girl back then :D. I ALSO got freaked out at that scene!!! (That scene when that boy turns into a rat scared me the most... :'()
THANKS!!! :D Oh this is awesome... getting my childhood feeling back now..
I watched this when I was little and was soooo scared too. My brother would pretend he was the guy outside my window and tap on it and I'd be so freaked out.
I'm studying animation now and the stop motion stuff reminded me of the ragman so out of curiousity i had a look! I was TERRIFIED!!! of this as a kid and had nightmares that he was floating outside my window!! it's such a powerful medium isn't it with such a sinister edge to it! I used to always get it frm the video shop then they got rid of the stop motion one and only had the cartoon one which just wasn't the same!!
Please, somebody put this whole film online! I've been waiting for DVD or even hell, a VHS that I can find, but it's not going to happen. Somebody's got it... just give it to us all, and make it quality. That's all I ask. And I never ask anything.
I cannot believe that i found this! I thought i'd made this up in mind but this movie has ruined my childhood! I was so scared in bed for a very long time! And the worst thing is that it's still just as creepy and scary!
This movie game me so many nightmares as a kid. We lost our copy of the movie & I searched for about 15 YEARS to find a copy. Tracked one down at a video store going out of business. That VHS is now one of my treasured possessions.
*Had my Aunt copy the VHS to DVD, perhaps will try to make into an AVI sometime.
I remember when this part came I would run out of the room... I was about 1 and a half... I forgot all about this... until now, thanks for the horrible memory.... lol
That opening has been driving me insane for twenty-two years. I've been looking for it every where. The Ragman is one of the creepiest characters to ever be introduced in a movie intended for children. The funny thing about it is that he was supposed to be a warning to children who stay up past bedtime, but after seeing him, I couldn't get to sleep. It's responsible for my love of creepy stop-motion, and for it to not be released is an insult to all the people who spent 4 years working on it
I'm joining the legions of people who say they were traumatized by this as kids. I had horrible, recurring nightmares about the Ragman when I was little. My dad did some research and found out the special's name, and then I found this video. Thanks for uploading this, you've shone a light on our past!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEASE put the whole film up!!!! My own tape of this has finally snapped :( and it brings back so many fond memories of hiding behind the couch from the rag man.....*shudder*
HOLY-- Um, I don't remember actually seeing this one when I was a kid, and thank God! Now, at 33, I'm worried about having nightmares from seeing this little bit of it.
Me & my siblings grew up watching this one every Christmas. Once I was old enough not to cover my eyes whenever this part or the mouse queen came on I enjoyed it. Thanks for posting this I love and MISS this movie. Fantastic!
I first saw this movie a long time ago on the Disney Channel; the opening sequence is truly nightmarish! I find it ironic that even though this is based on the famous NUTCRACKER ballet; it's mostly shot in darkness and is pretty scary stuff for youngsters. I never would've known that this was by the folks responsible for HELLO KITTY.
Yeah, count me as one of the hundreds who were scarred for life by this video. I was convinsed that the Rag Man was always sitting just outside my window. I wish I could find this movie to buy and watch again. I'd love to see it again.
i remember watching this as a kid. it never really scared me but i do remember thinkibng this is kind of creepy. the way this movie is animated is amazing. this is a really hard to fnid movie. i wish they would release it on dvd. if anyone knows let me know
My brother and I watched this as kids and it scared us to death! I sent it to him yesterday and we are still scared of it! What were our parents thinking! If it was suppose to teach us a lesson it failed...we spent more nights in their bed instead of learning a lesson!
This is interesting my wife saw this when she was little and to this day cannot watch it. I saw it when i was little as well and it never bothered me one time. I actually think it could be a clever way to make sure our kids go to bed on time, but my wife punches me each time i try to tell them the story of the Rag Man.
I remember this from when I was young! All I could think of was some creepy stop-animation film with someone named "Drosselmeyer" in it and through some research I found your video.
The Ragman sequence from "Kurumi Wari Ningyou/Nutcracker Fantasy" (1979)reminds me of the fantasy sequences in Neil Jordan's "Company of Wolves" (1984).
This will forever be a part of me. To this day i remember the very rack in the very section of the same Blockbuster where i rented this over a decade ago. Beyond bizarre in every way, this film NEEDS to be re-released. It's one of those things i thought was once in a lifetime, The TV right behind me is the first screen i saw this scene on, in broad day light. I never thought the day would come when i would see it again. LOL at the end, i would never be the same again either, Clara!!
oh my ffffffffffffing god. that thing scared the shit out of me when i was wicked little. my dad used to tell me if i didnt go to sleep then the rag man would come out of the attic and take me or whatever he did.. im still scared to death of that image of him its hands down the creepiest thing ive ever experienced! i actually want to cry right now i hate it so much
PLEASE upload the whole movie onto this site! It looks so interesting that we just HAVE to see the whole thing! I especially want to see Christopher Lee doing the voices of four different characters. A pity the Ragman doesn't really play any more of a role in this film after this opening scene...
It's Nowhere in any version of any Nutcracker Story I've found. It seems the Director put it in just to terrify children-What a Genius! It is such a tragedy that he never made another feature as this film stays with me to this day.
Also all the more creepy because surely it means that the evils rats in the story are..children
The Ragman isn't a direct part of the story, but another story by Hoffman is about The Sandman, and once i found that out this kind of made sense. But yeah, for years i wondered why it was even in the film, but later on there is a scene where clara is lost and a traveling musician guy who is never really out of the shadows (Lee voicing) tells her to "follow the little black bird" which flies off of his nose My brother actually suggested the Ragman supplies the army of rats at the end, i agree.
Damn my first comment didn't post, well I basically said that this movie and especially this scene are a timeless memory for me and I've been hunting this movie down since I started using the internet. Please, please post the whole thing!
This was one of those things from childhood you'll never forget. I've been looking for the movie ever since I started using the internet. Please, please could you post the full thing?
i remember my mum telling me this would happen to me if i did not go to sleep! so i ended up not being able to go to sleep as i was too scared!!!!!! evil mum! x
OH MY GOD. I just remembered about how this traumatized me when I was little...I stopped watching this movie part way through because I was so scared, but I remember this scene the best! I was so afraid that I was going to get taken away at night.
I couldn't even remember the name of this but this scene has stayed me my entire life. It's still terrifying! I wouldn't mind seeing the rest, even so.
Rag Man's such a dick.

Finally found the name to this, and happy that I found anything that goes along with it. I've had the one song stuck in my head for years, and now I'm on a mission to find the song. Yes, it was a bit scary, but I loved it.

Someone should remake it, with better stop motion animation. And better screenplay.
theinsane102 2 years ago
You're out of your mind. The stop motion is what makes this movie great. If they tried to remake it they'd just fuck it up like they do with all the other piece of shit remakes that are coming out these days. They need to learn to leave movies alone. If you don't want to see the original, than you don't deserve to see the movie at all.

Very glad you're creeped out. Hoffman wrote the originals as horror stories INCLUDING Nutcracker. He'd scare his self so badly sometimes he couldn't finish writing unless his wife was holding his hand.

Seriously. This was the most terrifying thing I have ever seen. As a child or adult. I recently watched the movie and became instantly terrified again. It's a pavlovian response I hear that music and the hair on my neck stands up. no joke!

OH MY GOD i CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS ON HERE!!!
JanEad 2 years ago
Please, somebody put this whole film online! I've been waiting for DVD or even hell, a VHS that I can find, but it's not going to happen. Somebody's got it... just give it to us all, and make it quality. That's all I ask. And I never ask anything.

Thank you for posting

I have to admit I'm in that group too.
I saw it back when I was like 4 or 5 on TV or a rental... and still had nightmares from it when I was in college.
I was thrilled when I found a used copy of the VHS for sale at a rental store going out of business. It is one of my 3 most treasured VHS tapes.
One other, also gave me nightmares oddly enough. It was ALLADIN AND THE WONDERFUL LAMP ('82 by Toei). And the final being Mickey's Christmas Carol.
I love nostalgia.

I remember this from when I was young! All I could think of was some creepy stop-animation film with someone named "Drosselmeyer" in it and through some research I found your video.
Please post the rest! Thanks :D

LOL at the end, i would never be the same again either, Clara!!

oh my ffffffffffffing god. that thing scared the shit out of me when i was wicked little. my dad used to tell me if i didnt go to sleep then the rag man would come out of the attic and take me or whatever he did.. im still scared to death of that image of him its hands down the creepiest thing ive ever experienced! i actually want to cry right now i hate it so much
tennisgirl0567 3 years ago 2
PLEASE upload the whole movie onto this site! It looks so interesting that we just HAVE to see the whole thing! I especially want to see Christopher Lee doing the voices of four different characters. A pity the Ragman doesn't really play any more of a role in this film after this opening scene...
mtigers1981 3 years ago 2
It's Nowhere in any version of any Nutcracker Story I've found. It seems the Director put it in just to terrify children-What a Genius! It is such a tragedy that he never made another feature as this film stays with me to this day.
Also all the more creepy because surely it means that the evils rats in the story are..children
Afterglow2046 3 years ago
The Ragman isn't a direct part of the story, but another story by Hoffman is about The Sandman, and once i found that out this kind of made sense. But yeah, for years i wondered why it was even in the film, but later on there is a scene where clara is lost and a traveling musician guy who is never really out of the shadows (Lee voicing) tells her to "follow the little black bird" which flies off of his nose My brother actually suggested the Ragman supplies the army of rats at the end, i agree.
