  • Great sound. Nice and full bodied.

  • Of course my friend. Its easy to connect it to a modern hifi amp, however its more"vintage" to hear and see it working alone. Is good to say tht all my old recorders have their eletrolitic capacitors changed and they work great. Thanks for watching.

  • Please remember that you hear here about 0,001% of what is real all-tube Grundig can replay on it's loudspeakers. So in reality it's sound is much more warmer, natural and exciting.

My advice is a completely adjusted, all-tube Grundig TK. It's a really good mic preamp, too. A GRWAT machine!

By the way, I'll release a video of playing TK-47 (stereo 2 tracks) soon. A great machine, the beast of the beast.

  • I just acquired one of these, but it doesnt play :(

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how I can fix it?

  • @ModestMachine Never mind, one of the belts had broke. Replaced it with an elastic band.

  • @Noleve My first tape recorder was a Grundig TK not sure which one.

I bought it in 1956 and it cost £30 I was earning £9 a week so I reckon

in todays money that would equate to about a £1000 (one thousand)

I swapped it for a prewar Railton car (plus cash) I,d rather still have the

Railton car no disrespect to Grundig!!

  • The song is 'S Wonderful by Richard Alden & His Piano & Orchestra and that would be a good machine to play it on. What other songs are on the tape?

  • Love reel to reel

  • An absolutely stunning machine! :)

  • Your TK20 looks and sounds amazing, it's hard to believe it's 50 years old, they were certainly built to last.

  • man that thing sounds good grundigs older stuff is good but i have owned a newer grundig short wave radio it lasted 2 years of light gentile use had to have it replaced 3times under waranty they sure dont make things like they used to and on the back it says made in china figures

  • Complete with swinging bachelor pad music! Love it!

  • Like all Grundig recorders of the 1950s and into the early sixties the TK20s were beautiful lookers and electronically superb. The only let-down was the tape transport mechanism which depended on one motor operation and belts. Use a Grundig frequently and you were O.K., leave it unused for a few months or longer and problems such as 'belt setting' could arise.

  • beautiful machine

  • Nice machine, great condition for it's age. I had a TK20 once, the machines were very solid and the sound was always rich and clear.

  • A real beauty - I have three of these, also a Grundig TK18, a TK-15, and a TK-35 like the one Elvis had! Thanks for posting this clip of the magnificent TK-20 in action!

  • do you know where i can get a manual? Ive just got one and need to know how to use it thanks

  • @emjacnig

I know this is a very late reply, but here goes...

I have also recently acquired a TK-20, but with a manual. I have scanned the manual and I can email you a copy if you're still interested.

  • Very nice machine!

  • hey, that's beautiful! I just inherited a Grundig TK5, I would love you forever if you could give me any info on it, direct me to a manual or anything at all! it has an odd power plug that I think I can swap for a modern one, as it says 250 volts and 5 amps. Any help restoring this wonderful thing greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Tom

  • Great taperecorder in beautifull condition and good working order. Thanks for sharing.
