I have in front of me the vinyl album Transition (copyright 1970) by Coltrane. Side 1, track 2 is Dear Lord (recorded 5/26/'65). On the 1993 CD, Dear Lord is absent and "Welcome" is in its place.
I've always love this simple melody that Trane composed. You can tell in his playing that it's straight from the heart. Perfect tone and intonation. A good lesson for any saxophonist wanting to control his breathing. A great song from a masterful album.

beautiful . one thing though . this is not from the album transition . the second track on "Transition" is "Welcome"

This was recorded in 1965 during the sessions for "Transition." Absolutely beautiful.
