Based on the pickguard being upsided down, I'd say that it was intended to be a right-handed guitar, but since there isn't a cut-away, it really didn't matter (it could be strung either way). It also seems that he had it custom fitted with pickups -at least two that I can make out since he has a toggle switch at what would be the bottom of the body (but he has it on the top since he was a lefty).

I am glad he was able to do this unplugged version of his music.  He was also a folk musician. Simple music and no touch ups in a studio. Thats why he sounded even better live. He could have been playing on the same stage as Simon and Garfunkel and no one would see it out of place. Not to forget the rest of the band who are of course great.
