I just watched this movie the first time like a month ago on Netflix Streaming, And I really loved it. Kinda cheesey at times but really, ahead of its time! The dream sequences were really good. Kinda reminded me of some of the dreams I had in while sleeping!
@Mrttns It's movie called "Dreamscape" from 1984. No relation to the Steven King book "Nightmares & Dreamscape." It's about a man (Dennis Quaid) who has the ability to enter other peoples' dreams, and during the course of the movie he learns of a plot to assassinate the President. Very cool, underrated little movie.
@archangel385 i will take that bet any day holly wood types all they do is watch movies and copy old ideas now thats all they do..i dont know if rip off is the word but i bet they knew of this movie and used its theme this is a better more creative movie btw
@MrBillcale Inception only had influenced by the 2006 animated film Paprika, not from Dreamscape. And no, this movie isn't better nor more creative than Inception by the way. Rotten Tomatoes gave Dreamscape 78 out of 100 white they gave Inception 86 out of 100 and the last time i checked 86>78, that's right, but that's not all. The idea of planting and stealing ideas from someones mind through dreams and the idea of a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream sounds a lot more creative.
@MrBillcale Oh, i almost forgot, Inception was also influenced by The Matrix, Dark City, and The Thirteenth Floor, not just by paprika, but they were never influenced by Dreamscape, so your wrong.
@archangel385 what do you know? who are you you can say you know? trust me this movie gave them the idea..they wont admit it..you have inside info on this do you? do you? no i do so stfu
@MrBillcale And how the fuck do you know then? How do you know that this movie gave them the idea? What because this movie came out in 1984 and Inception came out in 2010? Because both movies are about lucid dreaming, well if that's the case than that means that this movie ripped of from Celia Green's 1968 book "Lucid Dreams".
@MrBillcale Lets just leave it at this, Inception didn't ripped off nor were they influenced by Dreamscape. They were influenced by The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor, Dark City and Paprika, with a little Memento too. Those are the facts, have a good day sir.
@archangel385 come on!! there are people being trained to assasinate people in their dreams in this film 20 years plus before inception 26 years almost 30 years before.. hello??!
@MrBillcale Hello what? Dreamscape is about dream assassinations, Inception is about planting and stealing ideas through people's dreams, see the difference here??? Plus in Inception they used the idea of a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream and that is something Dreamscape didn't had, so shut the fuck up and face the obvious facts that Inception didn't ripped off nor were they influenced by Dreamscape.
was reading a book, 500 essential cult films. it mentions this film and the snakeman. the snakeman freaked me as a kid, i wud think of the snakeman occasionally and wonder wat movie that was. mystery solved
This was another movie that Kate Capshaw did in 1984, the other one being Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. She is married to Steven Spielberg for those who don't know. :)
While watching this video i felt myself starting to develop special powers. At first i didnt know what was quite happening but then i realised i was able to predict what the characters were about to say. Amazing huh?
I don't find the snake man scary. But then, I'm not a ten year old! LOL I remember being MUCH more impressionable as a little kid, than I am now (as I think most kids are). The other scenes of the movie are a bit creepier than this, to me, like the president's wife being incinerated by the bomb...
Yeh, l shit in my pants when l was a kid after seeing the snakeman, funny thing is l allways thought it was the lizardman, anyway awesome film back in the day when you were young!!!
My mom took me to see this movie when I was 7.....TWICE. The first time the film busted during this scene and we had to leave. Mom wasn't too smart with me and movies back then.
This and the 'transformation scene' in the thriller video were my scariest moments.
your exactly right my friend because thats just about all i could remember.....couldnt even remember the name of the movie i had to google one the actors in the movie name to find out what it was.....thats crazy

I do not understand anything! It's a movie or a show?
Where, when, and what is the story of this movie?
What is the name? Nightmare & Dreamscapes, or just Dreamscapes?
Someone explain?
Thank you! ^^

The Snakeman scared the crap outta me too when I was a kid, but I still loved watching this movie.
It seems like most people remember the Snakeman scene even if they don't necessarily remember the movie itself.
