  • He has clearly ripped off the Last Shadow Puppets here, shameful.

  • 3 people don't like being cute, cute in a stupid ass way!

  • Obe of the greatest songs ever written by Jaques Brel, brilliantly realised by Scott.

  • Scott walker had one of the most recognizable voices in the history of rock!

  • I wish this song could go on forever.

  • Fantastic song!! When it was released it was way ahead of it's time, and treated with a bit of suspicion! Listen to this guy's diction - every word in his songs is so clear. What a singer - absolutely in a class of his own!

  • this is the day music grew uo

  • my name is jackie. :D i feel so special.

  • I have no idea what he is on about, but i love it!!! :)

  • Heard the song on Radio 2 today; loved it!! (and i'm the person who's into metal and hard rock etc.)

  • would someone be so kind as to help me? im just getting into scott walker and id like to purchase a album of his. i was wondering...which album would be the best introduction to his work?

  • @punkrockerRHCP80

    Scott 2

superb - and it contains this track as well!!

  • @punkrockerRHCP80 Scott Walker 4.....or Scott Walker 2 or Nite Flight

  • @punkrockerRHCP80 SCOTT WALKER 4 is all original; Nick Cave does a couple covers!

    Ute Lempur as well ....

  • A classic. A great voice that can carry a tune,;deserved to have been more popular.

  • I never thought I would hear this one again. Wonderful song! There are so many words that you have to keep listening hard to keep up with the story. Thanx for the lyrics. This song is way way before it's time and completely brilliant. Thanx for posting.

  • I am a new zealander and our radio stations never played this! Only when our pirate station started did this get airtime! Radio Hauraki changed everything!

  • het is en blijft een kei van een nummer, ook al heet ik ook jacky, het nummer blijft in m'n geheugen gegrift staan, en wat een tekst, chapeau Scott ik blijf er van genieten

  • My name is Jackie!

  • When I first heard this I didn't like it - I was far too young to appreciate the funny, clever, witty and sheer damn artistry of the wonderful lyrics (how DID they get away with them at the time ... opium, bordellos, queers!!). And of course SW will probably never be surpassed at this. It is so VERY difficult to bring off technically cos it needs a voice which is both strong and agile, almost operatic in quality. Ahhh..... wish I could go back in time to hear him do it live ....

  • Yes Fantastic Thank You J.Brel et S.Walker

  • WOW. There are great tunes and GREAT TUNES!!! It's like a magic spell where everything comes together perfectly. The words, the voice, the intonation and the orchestration. How lucky are we?

    This lucky

    What a bloody song!!!!!

  • i remember hearing this on radio 2 several years ago, i frantically ran around looking for a pen and paper then sprinted to hmv and got the cd, played it everyday for three months, jackie, omg how i love this song and love love love scott walker!

  • Pure Genius brilliance

  • I remember when the BBC banned this song, and I was angry. It was years before I finally got a copy from eBay, and now I find it here. It's great! Scott - one of the members of the Walker Bros. was phenomenal but more popular in England than America

  • the bohemian's "My Way"

  • @APerfectAsss that's an excellent way to put it

  • LOVE JACQUES, LOVE JACKIE, LOVE MARC (ALMOND - OF COURSE), LOVE REVOLUTION MASTERPIECES, LOVE THE BIG MUSICAL SOUNDS, LOVE, SEA-SHANTY, LOVE 'GIRLS FROM THE STREET' AND 'THE ROPE AND THE COLT', BY SCOTT. ALSO LOVE THE INTENSITY OF THE MAN HIMSELF, JACQUES BREL, LOVE YOU JACQUES. GOING NOW TO SOURCE, THE ALBUM OR CD, 'FISH HEADS AND TAILS', I THINK IT WAS CALLED, BY THE SCOTISH BAND, 'GOODBYE MR MCKENZIE'.

  • a great song and a great voice, thanks for the share.

  • I have to say, Scott Walker has great taste in music. And not only that, he can pull it off incredibly well, too.

  • OMG...my name is Jackie.

  • Tony Bennett on acid.

  • @popomczowzow LOL

  • he was so great, but he sort of lost the plot and started doing weird shit, wasted talent as he moved into the 1970s till the present day

  • It's Quality

why the crap about the60's ?

    Just Enjoi.

  • great song, haven't heard it since I was young... 15 odd years ago, thanks for posting !

  • much better than mark almond

  • Like this if the New Years Eve episode of Absolutely Fabulous brought you here =)

  • Two lyrical errors-- bad on you for POSTING lyrics but posting them WRONG! It's not "Juniper" (which makes no sense at all, come on) but "Jupiter" (beard so very long and flowing) and it's "social world" not "social 'whirl'" (what the heck is a "social whirl"?). If I am going to perform this song for New Year's Eve karaoke this year I NEED to be rehearsing the RIGHT LYRICS, MAN! Wshew!

  • @Kirby444 I'm going to be thinking of you this New Year's Eve, and I'll sing along, cause this is the wildest song I've heard since Juanita Banana!!

  • @Kirby444 You are wrong -- "Juniper" and "whirl" are both correct. Check the original French by Jacques Brel... Do your homework before lashing out on the person who posted this.

  • I must now perform this song at this year's karaoke new year's party. I will be the only thing everyone remembers the morning after.

  • Absolute jaunty genius!!

  • Someone went to great lengths to hide this from me for the last 35 years. Too bad, I found it!!!

    Amazing.

  • No-one can say this isn't a fantastic Song.

  • This man was the most beautiful man of his time, how divine......love you Scott

  • And then there was Jackie!

  • Amazing! Must be a job of work to get the breathing right in this breathless rush...............

  • The orchestral arrangement on this version is killer (I note that Almond largely copied it on his more recent version). How I long to hear a great record like this nowadays. :-)

  • Amazing voice........I Love Scott!

Thank you so much for upload many songs of Scott.

  • what is this campy vegas nonsense?

  • Sometimes you just have to do it in 1967.

  • The greatest male singer ever no one has ever come near him.You are my life.joseph from oldham.

  • Je préfère la version Jacques Brel

  • Whoa...It's funny, camp and brilliant, all at the same! But 1967? And he got away with those lyrics...? WOW. But man, what a voice~ I love 'No Regrets' as well~ but this is so different! Thanks for the lyrics, as well as the upload. Top job. ^^

  • @PaulusAlone You are most welcome and I completely agree, it is all so awe-inspiring! Thank you. :)

  • @PaulusAlone - The lyrics were originally written by Belgian singer Jacques Brel. He got away with far 'worse' lyrics...

  • @PaulusAlone He's covering Jacques Brel

  • @DanBlabbers OK DAN' I DON'T KNOW WHY I CAN COMMENT HERE, MAYBE I MUST CHECK YOUTUBE REGULATIONS. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EXPERIENCE OF THIS HAPPENING, TBC.

  • "Locked up in my opium den!" What a a great line in a song of great lines

  • just great

  • Wonderful

  • Leccion No1 sobre como coverear una cancion francesa

  • I heard this song for the first time a couple of hours ago, as far as I'm aware. Now I can't stop listening to it.

  • fantastic arrangement

  • the best song ever,

    GREATNESS !!!

  • What a stagering voice this man has got. We should be hearing more of him and not tuppenyhappeny "pop" singers with their studio enhanced "voices".

  • @PenzancePete you can hear more of him, he's still going. he's now a bit, how shall i say, avant-garde!

  • Best version.

  • @EN5x11 have you heard marc almonds version? its amazing!!!
