He overbooked himself. I guess he figured that there never ever would be any technical problems at any of his venues, so he didn't feel he needed any margin for errors.
anybody know around what decade this occurred? This is classic, and 12 years behind a microphone showed me this happens entirely too often. Then add the TV crews and the annoyance factor zooms up like Cosell's blood pressure by the end of this classic bit.
@musicmandon1 Given what he's talking about with Pete Axthelm off-mike here, this must have happened arpound the time that Weeb Ewbank retired as Coach of the New York Jets and got his son-in-law Charlie Winner installed as his replacement in a very controversial move. That would make it either very late '73 or very early '74 most likely.
