@Alwaystuned. interesting. Granger just mentioned the difficulty of that particular set. for me the "crunch" or compactness of the set definitely added tension to the already tense atmosphere of the staging and dialogue. /// the lighting of the set also added drama to the atmosphere --- all the play between lightness and darkness --- the placement of lamps and candles ...
I've always thought that Farley Granger might have been gay, but who cares. I absolutely loved him in "Strangers on A Train" and "Rope". He was extremely good looking (and no, I'm not gay. I'm very straight).
His autobiography entitled "Include Me Out" is a good read for fans. Yes, he was gay, but someone below said he didn't care what people thought. Actually when you read his book, he was closeted about it.
He has aged nicly!! I was so glad to see that he is still here.. there is the film "The Girl In The Red Velvet Swing" It is a must!! True story about the murder or Standford White the builder of Madison Square Garden with Joan collins set in 1906.Farley as the richly obessed and jealous Harry Thaw playing one hell of a part!! I do hope he is doing well after his partner passed away. I was so glad to see that he he still here and looking good. I had such a crush and thought he was so HOT!
What a life. This man slept with Shelley Winters, Leonard Bernstein and countless others. And apparently didn't give a rat's ass who knew. He should have counseled the depressed Hollywood on the side. If olnly he could have spent some time talking (ONLY talking) to Judy Garland.
Wow! Farley's wearing an earring here! THANKS for sharing this delightful interview with us. What a masterpiece "Strangers" is....I realize "Rope" isn't as good, but I like it very much (mostly due to the top notch cast: Mr Granger, John Dall, Jimmy Stewart, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, etc). I had no idea until now that Hitchcock had wanted Farley for the lead in "The Birds". Rod Taylor was ok, but Farley would have been better, I think. And Farley's autobiograhpy is VERY entertaining! :)
The late Robert Calhoun had a career as Executive Producer of several daytime soaps. He presided over what fans remember as GUIDING LIGHT's last 'golden age' in the early 90s.
I loved both Rope and Strangers On a Train and I loved Farley in both, he was great, the young folks today need to see these films, they were the greats
when he was young, he was beautiful.

Granger is one of the most underrated actors ever in movie industry. His interpratation alone in "Senso", by Visconti, deserves a place in history.

It's Rope... Not The Rope....

Farley Granger loved Shelley Winters. He lived at the same apartment building in New York.
alsanchezband 4 years ago
no it's not true. Granger is gay. This episode of sharing apartment is false as Oriana Fallaci writes in I sette peccati di Hollywood
