  • Dear davcos22, your video "The Great Caruso, Ave Maria Gounod " we like

is uploaded by Falschsaenger 19 Nov 2011 as his own,pay attention please.

  • There's one by Verdi too from the opera Otello. It was sung at Pavarotti's funeral.

  • Oh my God..... Thank you...

  • absolutely amazing.

  • ...Heck with Mario, who's the kid? Uncredited.

  • they look like father n son,

    great song,nice performance

  • Ther are two Ave Maria. One written by Shubert and the other by Gounod.

  • @MrLavastida Actually, there are many versions of the Ave Maria. The Schubert and Gounod versions are the most sung for the soloist.

  • What a voice! Died far too early, what a pity.

  • Tá ſé ſeo go hálainn.

  • Ok, but I always wondered when I saw this film as a little boy: did the boy soprano actually sing that, or was he dubbed in by a female soprano ? It seems dubbed, but very well done.

I know for a fact that there are and have been boy sopranos who has glorious voices, because I was lucky to possess one myself, which has turned into a deep bass: but if that was actual singing by the boy, then what on EARTH ever happened to him ? Does anyone know the answer? I loved Lanza as a child.

  • I used to have debates with my father over Lanza - i thought Pavarotti was perfection, my father was a Lanza fan. I have since lost my father and now this piece is perfection to me. you was right dad.

  • wow, what an actor, for a second i beleaved he was caruso singing, bravo lanza!

  • I was 7 when I first watched this (that was a few years ago). I watched with my nonna & nonno.

  • Beautifull !

  • Awesome.TY davcos22 for posting

  • Who was the boy who sang, and what became of him?

  • @alexhouse99 I've heard it was pavarotti as a kid !

  • i saw this movie when i was young ,, have been an opera lover ever since ... incredible !!!!!

  • Heard Mario Lanza when I was a little girl; he's my father's favorite tenor. Thank you davcos22 for uploading this. . .

  • It is the Annunciation to Mary from the angel Gabriel, found in the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 1. In English:

"Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee."

"Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of they womb."

  • @suzisclozet "competely unblibical" (sic)??? Better check the Gospel of Luke, Chapter 1:

    "Ave, gratia plena, Dominus tecum."

"Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui."

    So it's actually entirely biblical.

  • What ever happened to the boy who sang the best part

  • @ItsMindTrippping Actually the boy isn't singing it. The voice was actually provided by a girl.

  • BEAUTIFUL NATURAL TENOR VOICE----LANZA BRAVO!

  • great beautiful natural tenor. RIP LANZA

  • THis is the most beautiful music seemingly from heaven itself, however it is competely unblibical and therefore there is a way that seemeth right unto men but the end thereof is the way of distruction. I have to pull myself away from its lovely chords......It is not a message that is true to scripture even if it pulls heartstrings and tears....

  • @suzisclozet what the fuck , you prods find piss where other find peace. enjoy it , one true chuch!

  • The great caruso. The Great COCOZZA!

  • I can only say it sooths my soul. You cannot ask for more than that from music.

  • pity the cry of heaven is not heard. but the cry of heaven is cease and the cry of humainity will begin

  • HERMOSO COMPOSICION CON LA MEJOR VOZ DEL TENOR DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS, MARIO LANZA

  • So glad I found this again. Lanza was the person that turned me on to Opera.

  • what a voice....gives me goosebumps every time i hear him sing.....reminds me of me mum and dad too...RIP my darlings....xxxxxxxx

  • @LadyStardust45 i'm the mum of sebastien, but i have also memories about that song, i was crying as little girl with that film. Afterwards my friend was singing that song at Bruge in Belgium in the middle of the night, she was drunk, her father was so ill and every tourist was clapping their hands, so emotional. Good memories, bad memories

  • One of the great voices of all time

  • dit is zo mooi....

  • Where my post went, I do not know. This is still total magic! I'd give my right arm to sing with the great Mario Lanza. This child did, and even if it was not his voice, Mario Lanza embraced him. What a wonderful moment for this child and all of us.

  • i do love this song everytime i hear it i start to cry.

  • Y ese niño increíble junto a Mario Lanza?

  • good very good

  • I'm crying too!! Good Lord this is just from Heaven!! Pure Magic!!

  • was a great film as well, god bless sat afternoon films

  • Blessings to the world! Were it not that we are what we have become... For shame it is that we have squandered our glorious inheritance! For shame.

Oh that you shall arise again brightest children of this Earth!

    Oh that ye shall arise...

  • This child as Luciano Pavarotti.. Jejeje

  • Mario Lanza !! Best ever !!

  • My mother keeps telling me that Mario Lanzo was so great that before he initiated his concert for those who payed the ticket he sang one song for the hundreds of poor people who were waiting for him outside in the cold! Now I don't know if this is true but if it is he was truely great!

  • the biggest heart in the world

  • Even though he's not as trained as say...someone like Pavarotti was, I can't help but respect the expression he puts into his music. To me, his expression more than makes up for this lack of training. If anything, it trumps it. If two people sing the same thing and one makes me cry, guess which singer I think is better? Technique is and always will be admirable, but it is no substitute for raw emotion like this. RIP Mario, you were one of the greats.

  • @VAAMusicalMike It's a common misconception that Lanza was untrained. He was a highly trained aspiring opera singer when he was "discovered." You have good taste.

  • yes, this is the version I like. Not the Schubert. The melody fits the words so much better.

  • He sang like God from Olympus! This song sings like an angel, like the sound of the ocean, or mist hung over the city rooftops! Wonderful, great artist!

  • I cried as a child when I first saw this and now many years later again watching on you tube. My dad an american sicilian introduced Mario to me and my love for his sound and emotions have never waived.

  • Tere Mesa

  • SUPER!"

  • What an honor to have sung with the great Mario Lanza, Mario, Mario, Mario, fino a quando ci incontriamo di nuovo, ora riposano in pace (RIP), giovanni e anche servants of God, Frank Duff, Alfie Lambe, and Venerable Edel Mary Quinn, Legion of Mary Praesidium (Mary, Queen of the Angels)

  • the most beautiful song... this is angelic....

  • Wonderful! Lord Jesus and His Blessed Holy Mother, our Beloved Sweet Lady Virgin Mary bless!

  • @WATBerlin

    Dear Berlin,

The ones who had the pleasure to see her live many times like me can only say: Jackie Allen: you are pure magic.

  • Amazing voice....

  • Still love you, Mario. RIP... diana

  • My dad's favourite, RIP dad, till we meet again. xxxx

  • Crazy voice!

  • @TheUltranejci Why crazy voice, Mario and the boy are singing me into heaven.

  • at first i thought that the boy's voice was a soprano because his voice belongs to a girl not a boy! :-[ nonsence of voice boys are not tenors!!

  • The boys "voice" is over the top with hysterical passion. Glad to read it was a lady dubbing. Lanza has wonderful control. I love his glissandos.

  • Tradycja i kultura chrześcijańska jest wielka . Pozdrawiam.

  • Tiene una voz fantástica....................

  • It is said that the child who sings with Mr. Lanza is no other than Luciano Pavarotti himself. True or false? It wolud be weird, anyway.....

  • This is the greatest Tenor that ever was, blows Pavaeotti and all others out of the water. Very sad that he died so young.

  • @7unicorn78 -- In my younger years Mario Lanza was my favorite singer--before Pavarotti. And in all honesty, I prefer Lanza's interpretation.

  • I've always watched this with my dad, sadly he is no longer here, how I wish he was. Dad idolised Mario and taught me to love him pity kids don't even know who he is now.

  • @brighteyesnicey Not entirely true. I'm a kid (well, 15), I love Mario Lanza. Be careful not to generalise young people!

  • Das ist erste Sane,, etwas vom feinsten,,

  • thumbs up for the redemptive power of beauty.

  • Heard that the young boy was Luciano Pavarotti. Is this true?

  • 'tis so tragic that Lanza died so early, with so much potential left unrealised! He deserves to have a movie bio made about him.

    Piconero

  • Perhaps the most beautiful song ever penned sung by the great Lanza with a superb over-dub of the choir-boy`s voice by Jacqueline Allen.

  • @thebigfist Jacqueline Allen's voice was really superb. It raised any roof. Superb vocalist.

    Alce 2008

  • @thebigfist

They could not have chosen a better voice than Jackie Allen's. May both be blessed by Virgin Mary.

  • he sounds like a lil girl

  • WOW, this is just a great legacy to humans, praise God for this blessing! sweetirene50@yahoo.com

  • @Rafufo56 SERA?

  • The greatest tenot who ever lived without a shadow of a doubt. The angels pale in comparison!

  • The one and only !! The very best!! MARIO LANZA !!!!!!!! Abselutt fantastisk !!

  • Uauuu.. como esse menino canta!!!

    3)Pavorotti

    4)Alfredo kraus

    5)Tito Schipa

  • 12 October 1935 Date of Luciano Pavorotti's birth. Pavarotti would have been 20 at this time, surely not a child with a Soprano voice Sorry you guys!! Mommacat55

  • Thanks davcos22 for putting such a great and magical video. Did you guys know that the little kid singing next to Mario Lanza is Luciano Pavarotti? how incredible! the best tenors together singing such a beautiful and peaceful song!! thanks again bro!

  • @RenzoRG to the right, or left?

  • @miketallica665 the one in the right.. the kid who starts singing in the middle of the song

  • when I was just a litle girl my mother take me to see a film with him, and I never forget how I like him singing. It´is now 52 years or more ,but I never forget.

  • Mario Lanza was a perfect match to play Caruso in films. Although I have to say that Caruso still had the better voice.

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! THERE ARE NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE IT!!!!!

  • One of the greatest voices of our time. Simply breath-taking!

  • One word - Beautiful. Thank you for posting this.

  • May the Lord keep his soul with Him!!! Thanks for sharing this video that helped me decide to become a tenor!!!! BRavo!!!

Einfach Fantastisch!!!King Elviis und Mario Lanza!!

    DANKE!

  • I love this so much.

  • this was one of my favorite films as a kid and my favorite part of the film was this one. Also, the scene from The Jolson Story featuring the same song sung by a young Al Jolson. Oh, and the choir boys singing in Bishop's Wife. Wonderful!

  • If you close your eyes while singing to this.. you would think that he was singing with a girl.. but when you open your eyes it's a little boy with a soprano range.

  • AMEI!!! E NÃO CANÇO DE ASSISTIR!!!! SÓ POR DEUS ESSAS VOZES!!!

  • The most beautiful duet between boy soprano and the world's greatest tenor. So moving and a memory to treasure.

  • Absolutely stunning !!!

I wonder what that kid`s doing now ? Singing I would hope.

  • @wareidav Actually it was sung by soprano Jacqueline Allen

  • @goldenthroat86 Thanks for that info.... i`ll look her up.

    Regards.

  • I like Lanza very much :)

  • yeah, the boy sounds good, but as i ve read in another clip, it was not his voice. Sound was from a female Sopran singer. Anybody know it´s true ??

  • @Hefratho , You are correct it was a girls voice, dont know who though...

  • @Hefratho sung by Soprano Jacqueline Allen

  • @Hefratho

Who cares, this is magic!! What a thrill this child sung with the Great Mario Lanza, even if and if it is not this childs voice. Again, it is magic.

  • @mommacat55

  • Could,nt get any better than this-absolutely brilliant!!

  • Awesome! Almost brought a tear to my eye! ....And WHO was that awesome treble who sang with him? He was nervous as hell, but what a voice, and what power!!!

  • i like to know what has become of that young boy?

  • so agree...actually i am using my brothers computer....i am 4260laurel...but lanza has always been thought of as one of the greats- even as untrained as he was.

  • beautiful, makes me cry for my Mother called Maria. Thank you

  • Can anybody explain what exactly the soccerball like icon on the player really does?

  • That child is simply AMAZING... He makes me cry....

  • Mano Lanza is still the greates singer of all time even better then Pavarotti love this video ty 4 posting it
