@Mustangloverfan It's been 20 years since I have been 13, but I think it's great that you are interested in older music. At your age, I was too busy listening to Morrissey, the Cure, and Radiohead, etc. I am from the last of the real MTV generation, when they used to play only music videos. So this music is before my time as well, but I like it also. You are just smart enough to realize that the modern stuff is all show, but pre-mid-80's was all about talent.
@Mustangloverfan You will find friends who enjoy the same things you do. Don't ever regret being exactly who you are. I'm 20 and I don't care what anyone says, good tunes are good tunes no matter what how old they happen to be. I listen to music from the 40's and 50's with my grandma and I dare someone to make me feel bad about it!
@Mustangloverfan Taste is subjective, so there is no right or wrong; there's only what has meaning for you. Also, keep in mind negative stuff you hear from your peers between now and when you get out of college isn't going to mean a lot in the long run. Stick to what's important to you, and choose to spend your time with people who make you feel appreciated and keep some distance from the ones who try to tear you down to make themselves feel better.
