  • Fucking rain In Shannon!!! Then you know you're home.

  • thats what we do .end of story.

  • Why was the original landing aborted? It would have been nice to mention the cause in your posting comments

  • @rfgorman Crosswinds

  • @rfgorman Rain i guess?

  • oo i love watching this, i cant wait to go to ireland in april or summer, near near near if im going in april

  • wow

  • LOVED both of the VIDS... the wing dropped quite a bit just before touch down no???

  • They maybe the safest around but they are a bunch of cheap fcukers. Thier staff on transatlantic flight are a bunch of auld biddies. No free drink onboard & their awful chicken or beef !!

  • @savagebollox - I've had nothing but good experiences on every Flight with Are Lingus, they're way better than Ryanair anyday.

  • I am a retired Aer Lingus pilot.

  • yeay but now your on the opposite side of the country

  • 3:01 my workplace. busy at the moment thank god

  • This pilot is well experienced & trained, even though the weather in Shannon was a bit milder, yet it was still needs an experienced pilot to land. Welcome to the ground again, I was hoping to see the reaction of the woman sitting next to you after the landing. Im sure she would be relived.

  • A good day to go to bed !!

  • My heart was in my mouth watching your videos! But you know you're in safe hands when you fly with Aer Lingus!

  • @cailingaelach1970 - Me too, I've had a copule of Bad Landings like this. I always used to love flying but one bad Landing in 2008 and I'm bricking it everytime the Plane takes off. The slightest bit of turbulence makes me feel terrified and sick. Its mainly the helplessness of it that gets to me.

  • UP MAYO!

  • haha for a minute ther i thought you were landing in a field :L glad you got down safely in the end

  • aaahh imagine being stuck with aer lingus for 12 hours ..bad1:L or however long

  • any landing is a good landing!

  • Very smooth landing despite heavy crosswind conditions at EINN (diversion from EIDW) - Shamrock PIC's trained to very high standards - what happened to PAX after arrival at EINN, did the winds evntually die down at Dublin to allow landing ???

  • That's 'thank-f**k-we're-alive' clapping.

  • Aer Lingus is the best, I will always try to use them when ever I travel to the UK. was great so well and the flights all were smooth and comfortable.

  • @brooklynlulu - I agree, I;ve always preferred them over Ryanair.

  • It looks like in Shannon the weather was not better than in Dublin.

  • And that was the cabin crew clapping.

they should have aborted that one as well and gone on to New York......

  • @gerundino98 you may suck

  • @gerundino98 New York is extremely overrated.

  • y did you divert? weather?

  • Carol, this is the same plane landing at shannon, and sure, i clapped also. Just glad to get home alive, same as all the other passingers

  • @alanoc22 I'd say it was scary for you all, even though you were in good hands. I'm a nervous flyer and would have been praying hard (and hoping He was listening to me!)

  • I actually wouldn't mind landing at Shannon seeing as im from Galway and Aer Lingus are cutting their Shannon routes cos they cant run a business well! For example, im flying to New York in 2 weeks and they wanted €700+ from SNN-JFK,so i got American airlines for €484 instead...(SNN-LHR-JFK-LHR-SNN).. even though im using Aer Lingus to Heathrow and back

  • christ im sure theirs no law in you clapping your hands after a plane lands, what... you think because you don't clap your hands after a bad flight your better?... this world is too full of wankers like you, yes you!

  • get bent asshole. people like me, yes me are entitled to our opinion. if i dont like people clappin, thats my opinion. its not as if i get up on the flight and confront someone for clappin. it just bugs me thats all.

  • the way you say it though your just plane ignorant.

  • your callin me ignorant! just look at your last comment. PLANE,PLANE,PLANE. its PLAIN you should have used.

  • @wallsie we flew with AL from London-Dublin in 2005. Halfway there and this massive storm comes out of nowhere. The worst approach weather I've experienced in 51 years. Felt sure that had to divert. Nope. That flight crew eased it down and put it on the tarmac so gently with everyone braced for a hard landing. All passengers and crew applauded and although I was buggered from the previous flight from Sydney-London, I waited to the end to thank that crew personally.

  • @wallsie isnt it a german thing

  • grand so

  • fukin hell how close was that thing to the ground at dublin.your camera probably interferered with the onboard computer system..lol

  • could you do it better??

  • aer lingus is one of the safest airlines in the world

  • yeah and when i went on a trip to dublin we flew them from orlando they had great service and a nice first class (in the a330)

  • too right! im irish, and im proud of aer lingus!!!

  • @xhavenrunaway

because they have only one jet

  • Comment removed

  • @climatixseuche they have 41 aircraft

  • Comment removed

  • @xhavenrunaway yes i agree, but i hope you have calculated the fact that Aer Lingus also has a small fleet, therefore chances of accidents are much slimmer and because of Aer Lingus's small fleet maintenance is easier and costs much lower. I just hope Aer Lingus does not become another Ryanair. Aer Lingus is a very good airline, and should stay as a legacy/ luxury cheap liner

  • @xhavenrunaway I believe TAP is safer

  • @TheBadameco u just picked out a random airline ya wanker

  • Comment removed

  • well i do think that as a pilot, you would appreciate a clap. i mean, pilots pride themselves on good landings etc, so if i was a pilot (as i have every intention of) i know id like a clap sometimes.

  • Comment removed

  • moron....

  • im anti-clapping too but in fairness, you're going to be relieved when you touch ground after a previous aborted landing!

  • This is not just for the pilot it's a release of built up stress, everyone worries about crashing.

And this job isn't easy as it looks, one f***up and that's it

  • its not this particular incidence i have a problem with, it's the routine landings. No drama there!

  • people clap because he/she made a good land. dont be such a bastard

  • the were clapping with relief obv.

  • Irish people clap anyway after landing. Its tradition.

  • Ok guys, ur aloud use electrical devices(cams etc) but not on landing or take off. and your never aloud use a phone not even when its on flight mode :(

  • an aerlingus air hostess once seen me taking my cam corder out as we were getting near to landing and he took me to a vacant window seat where i could get better footage and wasnt leaning over my mate, was really nice and proves YOU CAN use electronic equip

  • well one time, i had my phone out and it was on flight mode and an aerlingus air host came up to me and was like 'put that away now!'

  • holy shit dude, i cannot imagine your relief after touchdown. i saw your first vid too with the aborted landing - must have felt great finally land. great videos mate....cheers. (CLAP - CLAP)

  • I've never understood why people applaud after the initial touchdown since it appears most accidents and deaths during landing occur after that point. Most of these huge aircraft are still doing well over 150mph at touchdown, with considerable effort required to slow it to a stop safely.

  • correct me if im wrong but isnt it against the regulations to use electronics during take off and landings as they can interfear with the on board computers and radar if so why would you endanger yourself and others by breaking the rules for your own gain?????

  • wozzyone > "isn't it against regulations to use electronics during.."

The US Code of Fed Reg, Sec 121.306(b)(5), leaves determination to allow/ban devices during takeoff/landing up to individual airline. Since there has never been a recorded case, in all the years of cameras being sold, of a camera causing interference with navigation or communications of an aircraft, few airlines object on these grounds. Larger concern is loose objects, minimized by securing strap to seat or your person.

  • maybe so but if you care to read the aerlingus rules and regulations they state clearly that they do not allow the use of electronic devices article 11.3 of their rules and regulations so cameras are not allowed by aerlingus on take off or landing and yes i did ring and ask

  • There are plenty of cockpit videos on here that have been taken by pilots. I'm sure after their extensive training they'd know what is right and what is wrong.

  • haha what a fcking dickhead !

fortunately irish ppl aren't d same at all.. If there was many more of them lyk wanker above i wouldnt be suprised that we hate each other...

  • The passengers had been in the air 8 hrs from DXB, aborted landing in DUB and then 30mins more to SNN, I'm crew for a major airline and I'd have clapped!

  • that was thrown down! but you are still alive (I hope). Have to say that, along with the original missed approach; these are the best vids i have seen on the internet. Thank you!

  • I think people are clapping on every European airline. Which is very nice. The only thing is, which makes me laugh, that they always clap right on touchdown. That's way too early. A big airliner traveling down the runway at about 150 mph, with about 2 miles to stop, a lot can still happen. I start clapping at 60 knots, when the thrust reversers come off.

  • the clapping is so cheesy lol :-D

  • de owl aerlingus clap!! :P

  • wats wrong with clapping its mostly because its a hard landing or a good pilot ! clapping makes us irish great

  • Every time I've flown Aer Lingus everyone claps?!

  • Comment removed

  • why was the Dublin landing aborted? what time of year were you traveling? we are scheduled to fly to Ireland for the first time ever---not so sure I should be watching this beforehand!!

  • ah "the clap" love it."we didnt die!"LOL think its irish thing, on turbulence flights.I always Aer Lingus whenever i can, always has a professional touch about them, staff and pilots. nice video

  • greek aswell... funny isnt it

  • no leais el comment anterior please!

  • you landed in Shannon? thats a long way from Dublin. Was it a diversion?

  • Aer lingus is a nice Airline, that was just a bad day......

  • What did Aer Lingus do when you arrived in Shannon? Did they take you to another gate for a plane back to Dublin, or did they use the same aircraft?

  • lol no they use busses or taxis

  • they clapped because theyve just aborted the landing and they are releaved to be on the tarmack safetly

  • americans clap sometimes too

  • Ahhhh Aer Lingus I hope they go back to flying to Shannon. Remember flying them as a kid for summer holidays woo hoo GREAT memories

  • alot of pressure on the pilot there thats the time when they earn there money but also being very safe and and confident diverting.

  • wow tat must av been mad,,, senn the first vid of this and then a bad landing in shannon,,, tats mad!!!! lol

  • If anyones flying aer lingus soon try and record the safety video or live demo+post it on youtube!

  • lmfao every1 clapped xD straght inte the pub for afew after that, feck clappin lol

  • true professionalism at it highest standard.

Aer Lingus pilots are highly trained and are the cream of the Irish airline industry.

Well done Aer Lingus you are truely part of our Irish heritage!

  • flying as a child years ago it was the norm to clap but now not so frequent unless its a windy approach. im a clapper no matter what the weather. i dont care if im the only one doing it. im just so grateful to be lifted off one piece of tarmac and deposited on another a few hundred miles apart safe and sound.

  • yeah when i was younger people always clapped. Now nobody does.. :(

  • we all clap on cyprus airways loool and we do are cross. its a greek thing

  • I was on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Dublin last month, and we clapped once we landed, so it may be an Irish thing. Because the flight home was Gatwick to JFK, and no one clapped. I think it's a good thing to do, very polite.

  • Well done . The pilots and crew deserve a round of applause.

  • Clapping is old aviation etiquette, not just for the landing, but for the entire flying experience. It used to be the standard thing to do after every flight. I live in Ireland and it seems the Irish still do it more than most people. Because it's so windy here, there are a lot of hairy landings, so I guess people appreciate it more!

  • In Italy it was the same some years ago. When I was a child I remember we clapped in many flights. Now it's very rare, but some people still do it.

  • I suppose the clapping is a bit silly . Thanks for not killing us . . as if the pilot wanted to die himself.

  • How did you all get back to Dublin than? Did Aer Lingus pay for Cabs or Coach.

  • Oh, I don't know. Being flung about and seeing that wing flex does strange things if you're in the chair. We had a terrible landing approach into Dublin in 2005. HUGE storm, being knocked about and an airfield with very little moving on it. I doubted they would continue in. They landed it so smooth I couldn't believe it. The entire plane clapped and I waited to shake that Captain's hand!

  • Ohhh my God.... It`s just a way to say "thank you" to the pilots... What`s the problem? Pretty usual in Europe, even if landing in Spain, middle of the Summer... I like it !

  • yeh it does. but its still a nice touch

  • why do they have to clap??? are you stupid?

  • Sorry darling but I am not a juvenile like you to clap needlessly !

  • u guys land a plane in bad weather. u might like it if someone clapped

  • because the captain and crew was professionaly..the landing wasn't easy..

  • Yes, you're so right ecrdab747, and your comment is so mature. So, I guess I have to stoop to being immature. Feck off!

  • those poor people...

  • that is a job well done captain! look how rough it is just before landing! id shit maself!

  • Why didn't your flight land at the airport that it was supposed to land at in the first place?

  • winds of 85 miles per hour

  • Strong crosswinds which would make it unsafe to land. The pilot's acted correctly.

  • hats off to the pilot and you as well for keeping their kool

i m glad u guys made it safe

  • ahahah if you think that clapping is funy find one with altin people landing, they clap whistle and sometimes even scream its hillarious

  • lol . everybody clap your hands noww . dim tiss dim tissss

  • I hate when ppl clap >:(

  • its gr8

  • Why, try being on this flight.

  • Isn't just good manners to clap someone on a job well done? Yes the pilots knew exactly what to do but i would probably bet that they would be dripping with sweat afterwards.

Example. You're in your car, you start to skid, you know what to do to correct the skid and stop safely. But afterwards your heart will be going a hundred miles an hour and you'll think, hell that was close.

  • Hey ive talked to a pilot and he wished that people claped more often :P I guess he wishes he was still in the 1950's when pilots were looked at as gods

  • clapping is for pussies as i never see anyone clap when they arrive home from a 2 hour traffic jam where some poor sham wacked his truck into a car full of kids and killed them all. Flying is much safer than driving ur car

  • why bother clapping the pilots know what they r doing so it doesnt bring goodluck to clap,as once was on flight from stanstead to knock and talk about scary up and down trying to view runway through the clouds and all that went through my mind was if u going to go u going to go as nothing can do about it now as they say to fly is safer than driving ur car in the morning traffic,as all those half asleep bastards forget to drive properly not like those pilots who knew they couldnt land.

  • I would say the first clapping landing I've experience was with Adria Airways, landing in LFPG(paris charles-de-gaulle), the most perfect landing i've ever been thru, to my estimation, it should have been a touch down of -50ft/m, i couldnt even feel the touchdown, i saw the spoilers out then i realized we touched. LOOOL! great Experience!!!

  • ahh

  • I also landed in shannon that day after my flight being diverted and i was soo happy to be alive that the 3 hour bus journey back to dublin didnt bother me one bit!

  • Yaaay! A landing video where people clap, even if the plane bounces a little bit. You don't see that too often on this website. Personally, I love to clap upon landing.

  • every people are clapping when the pilot lands the aircraft and those who don't clapp are dick heads

  • probably those not clapping are scared to death lol

  • S350XWB You are talkin shit, ive been on more than a dozen aer lingus flights that they clapped on

  • Well I fly about once every 2 months on Aer Lingus and the only time anyone clapped was on a flight from Italy where, from what I have been told, clapping is quite normal.

  • same here but normally it's only when there's a dozen or more bowsies bringing the family to Salou for a fortnight

  • hey i like salou im going again in june and im not a kid i'm 14 and probably know a lot more than you do!!

  • I never said anything about kids. I mentioned bowsies alright, not kids.

  • Ha Ha! Clapping on landing is normal in some countries but not in Ireland or the UK and not on Aer Lingus! I think they clapped becasue of the extreme weather conditions they had just experienced up there.

  • everybody claps upon landings silly

  • no they dont . who do you fly with - coconut airways !

  • aww leave LImerick alone, its where i am and it aint so bad... try it b4 u cut it ya!!!!

  • I love the clapping!!! Only Irish people do it!!! I always do it on flights!!

  • I love the clapping on landing, its so Irish.

  • yeah, but this practice was picked up by the Irish from Spanish Students coming to Dublin every summer.

  • not only do you get the hell scared out of you but you end up in limerick aswel, bad day all round!

  • Shannon Airport is in Clare ya eejit!! :D

  • nah they only wanted to get away from dublin...
