I have not heared the TWR Controller with the grey shirt for a long time on frequency. It is the guy who is often visible and audible in the background, controlling the 31R arrivals.

Everybody knows what's up with him? Is he retired? I'd like his voice, coolness and calmness.

actually...depending on where the controllers got their tranning. they do use omega. dont hear it to often anymore, but it just depends on the location and controller. and the only thing that makes me mad about faa controllers calling themselves pros...come one man, you have a local controller working the arrival runway, and a seperate one working the departure runway. come on now...come out to a contract tower where we work local, ground, clearance, data...everything by oursleves!!

Yo don't have a choice where you work. You start off with on job, get checked off so many times, then move to the next, etc. It can take a couple years to work the tower. The cut off age for FAA is 31 (Done with school).

The reason why Air traffic controlers are so busy is with all the traffic thats why now there is a new system being tested and so far its holding up im not sure of the name but its like a radar system that will be put to the test so hopefully it can than be installed and used on all aircrafts it basically shows the pilots the same thing air traffic control sees so then they will be less comunication with the ground because the pilots will be able to virtually handle them self in the skies.

That girl appears to be wearing an Aviation High School Uniform. Aviaiton HS is a specialized NYC public school that has a campus in Long Island City and and annex at JFK. Aviation trains HS stucents in all facets of the aviation trade, and most graduate with a FAA license.

The one thing I always wonder is what that "beep beep" is that you always hear on liveatc or in this video around 1:04 and 1:20. Anyone know?

Might be the ICSS (Integrated Communication Switching System) dial, or ring line.

When the caller pushes a number it makes a sound like that . Push 1 you get one chime, push 2 two chimes, etc.
