Why not invest in faster trains compared to planes? Not only is it safer, but you can get directly to your destination at a a very high speed. Japan's doing well with it, why not us? Do you know the earths magnetic field has been flipping randomly well before humans existed on this planet? I would expect that would have way more of an effect than we could.
