They can bombard ground targets. They are experts at that. But I don't know how they would fair against an air force which is more experienced in air-to-air combat.

The six day war back in 67' six days of fighting Israel claimed a total of 452 Arab aircraft destroyed, of which 49 were aerial victories. Not to mention War of Attrition with Egypt in 70'( five MiGs shot down, zero Israeli losses0 and the Yom Kippur war in 73' where they registered over 200 aerial kills, they are indeed a fine tuned fighting machine. The world's leading ace is in fact Israeli (Giora Epstein)
@santisevenX I know that. All I am saying is that those combat experiences are VERY far away. 40 years away to be exact. A normal military career is 25 years. It is thus safe to say they have changed at least 2 generations of pilots since then. (Not to mention back then they had better tech than their opponents). All I'm saying is that today they have no real air-to-air experience outside of training. And it is a known fact that performance varies wildly between training and real life combat.

Technologically they are two rather well matched air forces although Greece has a slight technological advantage while Turkey's air force outnumbers the Greek one 2 to 1. The mirage was originally a french fighter before the Israelis got their hands on it put a better engine designed better fuel tanks no drop tanks and they are innovative but as far as I have seen they haven't designed anything that would keep up with the F22 or the New russian or chinese fighters. US Scrapped the F14 F15 and F16 but Israel said we'll take em. I have also heard that the Israeli Air Force Bombed a proposed site for a Nuclear reactor.

Very well equipped air force, probably right up there with USAF, RAF, Russian AF. But in terms of first hand real air combat experience it does not even compare to many air forces of this world nowadays (eg Greece, Turkey and more)

@santisevenX A dogfight in uncertain circumstances (ie, not in training but in a situation where you are actually defending your air space and don't know whether there will be a missile fired or if the incident will just end with a lock-on and an escort out of the FIR) is something the Israeli air force has no experience in anymore. They can bombard ground targets. They are experts at that. But I don't know how they would fair against an air force which is more experienced in air-to-air combat.

@xsaradriver1 their pilots are some of the most highly trained in the world. The six day war back in 67' six days of fighting Israel claimed a total of 452 Arab aircraft destroyed, of which 49 were aerial victories. Not to mention War of Attrition with Egypt in 70'( five MiGs shot down, zero Israeli losses0 and the Yom Kippur war in 73' where they registered over 200 aerial kills, they are indeed a fine tuned fighting machine. The world's leading ace is in fact Israeli (Giora Epstein)

@santisevenX I know that. All I am saying is that those combat experiences are VERY far away. 40 years away to be exact. A normal military career is 25 years. It is thus safe to say they have changed at least 2 generations of pilots since then. (Not to mention back then they had better tech than their opponents). All I'm saying is that today they have no real air-to-air experience outside of training. And it is a known fact that performance varies wildly between training and real life combat.

@xsaradriver1 that doesn't mean that their pilots have gotten progressively worse over forty years! if anything its gotten better as technology progresses and training is always paradoxical with tech. but with their one and only ally Egypt on the way down, their battle prowess in aerial combat will be reveled to you quite soon.

@santisevenX For me the current generation has nothing but training air to air experience. Against an air force like Pakistan or Greece they would get owned. that's my opinion and I stand by it. As for your interpretation that upraisings by poor people in need of freedoms and jobs will lead to a war... I find that quite aweful. Unless Israel attacks them first... Which would not shock me after all that country sure loves to go to war.

Israel is no idiot and with the odds heavily against them in the middle east, striking first is not something they "love" to do, its necessary for the protection of their own people. Name conflicts Greece or Pakistan has been in that proves to you their aerial mastery.

@santisevenX Greece defends its airspace on a daily basis over the Aegean sea against the turkish airforce. Technologically they are two rather well matched air forces although Greece has a slight technological advantage while Turkey's air force outnumbers the Greek one 2 to 1. They dogfight on a daily basis and there have been quite a few incidents ending in the death of some pilots. Pakistan has had similar although less intense feuds with India.

Are their pilots noted for world renown training? No. F-16's aren't excellent on their own accord. Pakistan is descent.

@santisevenX Fact: Greek fighter pilots are world renoun for their extensive above average experience and heavily head hunted for commercial and private interests once discharged. For example the world's most avid pane and airport collector the Cheikh of Qatar only trusts Greek ex military pilots.
Fact: the F-16 Block 52+ is superior to pretty much and short-medium range fighter jet flown by the Israeli air force. No currently active israeli pilot has EVER had a dogfight with an enemy pilot.
