Oh my god. This thing has done the impossible. I have a suped up gaming laptop, great specs, nothing wrong on the technology front. I tried using cubase. COULD. NOT. GET. RID. OF. LATENCY. Spent hours on forums, trying to figure out the problem, to no avail.
Tried reaper, out of the box, no noticeable latency. Awesome.
The only thing that bothers me about this is no audio editing. Is it possible to combine a product such as Audacity with Reaper? Other than that I dont think I can pick anything else appart.
Today was the first time Ive used reaper... and today was the first time Ive fully recorded an artist song and mixed it fully. Its so simple. Wow!!!!!
Man i am a pro tools person and an Adobe auditon user, after using Reaper man the rewire is awsome and it will from now on be my choice of weapon for my multi track recording and rewire needs. Awsome DAW system.
Try out Renoise ith ReWire together with Reaper ceetheproducer RENOISE is AMAZING. and I gotta say the same about Reaper.. Renoise is ofcorse a tracker but with the features available in it is now a TRACKER ON STEROIDS. PLUS there is TALK about renoise inputing a "piano roll" option, the idea has been thrown on the tanle in the forums which will make it THE MOST DIVERSE and USER FRIENDLY DAW OUT THERE!! Reaper keep doing your thing! REAPER RULZ!
tryed nearly every daw goin, i own most daws, reson4+record NO VST support, cakwalk sonar 8.5 I LOVE IT BUT DISOLVE PARTS DOSNT WORK N CAKEWALK HAVNT FIXED THAT IN THE UPDATE, cubase5 TAKES FOREVER TO LOAD UP N SHUT DOWN IF YOU HAVE LOTS OF EXTRA VSTs AND VSTIs, fl studio 9 IS JUST LAME! i feel like ive been scammed! every daw out there ive brought has had a SERIOUS let down! reaper is my last hope! the lack of audio editor isnt a problem aslong as everything else works then im a reaper man!
Are you using it as a sequencer for producing? Or as a mixing program? You'll find that it lacks the sequencing/midi abilities of something like logic, but it's good enough for something that's free.
@SparkySubie it's not free. It's 60$ for personal use. But if you need more midi functions reaper has a way to program macros for yourself. I don't see how something could be missing if you can actually add it to the program in 3 minutes by creating a custom action.
What is really missing from Reaper ( compared to other DAWs ) is internal VSTi's but, I'd rather use my own chosen ones than pay for internal ones I probably won't use anyways...
pro tools...its a professional software since many years... you can buy soundcards especially for pro tools, that cost 15000 euro!... i mean that says all! pro tools is THE pro application 4 mixing...and i mean MIXING, not sequencing and stuff, only mixing!
I'm currently an Ableton user, but this DAW is interesting. How does Reaper achieve a "warp" for a sample, the way Ableton does in order to line up the rhythm of different samples/midi tracks?
can u use 32bit, 48hz audio in this daw?

I used to dislike Reaper, until I saw the Groove 3 Tutorials.
Now I can see it's the greatest DAW of them all!

is this better than adobe audition 1.5?
mexskater 2 years ago
It seems so. I used to use Audtion, and didn't like it very much. I think adobe should stick to visual editing software, lol.

No, but you can test it as long as you want. And a license for non comercial use is very cheap, just $50!

Looking for something to rewire with Reason so i can use a couple of vst's, hardware synths or throw in vocals. This looks perfect for my needs.
Henkera 3 years ago 5
@Henkera Reason & plugins are 2 totally different things. Last I checked Reason is not plugin compatible.
