@Eowyn47 Pretty much any Anime made between 1993-2003 is better.

It lacks the emo-garbage and bi-polar shifts between comedy and gore.

Older Anime was more in the middle where comedy and violence were concerned and not as random.

It also has more maturity in it's plots and most importantly, better music.

Also try out Witch Hunter Robin. It's an extremely good Anime that is calming, action packed and has a great storyline that actually makes sense, all at the same time.

FMA can't match that.

In FMA, Ed usually reminds me of an emo teenage girl and whenever Winry cries and shouts at someone, the scene normally ends up making me feel aggravated, rather than sad.

It's like everything is overdone in FMA.

Even the comedy and gore seem a little Bi-polarly placed and imbalanced in the story.

The only reason I watch it is for the duels.
