in the late-80s my friend Daniel a mopar restorer showed me photos of this car & it's engine in submerged water but just below the dipstick tube. As the owner wanted a estimate for how much it would cost to restore. It was in private garage westmount (montreal) and suffered flood damage. It was sold & restored in Florida in the early 90s & featured in several magazines after that. I also recall the 1969 gtx hemi convertible from quebec city, brown in color with tan int.
I knew thre was only two, but rcently i heard the sublime one (in this video) burned up in a house fire, so if it's true the brown one is the only one left
@shaneoakleyisthebest I believe there were only two also. There was the brown one, which I've seen in books and calendars, and a white one which is the one exported to Switzerland.
3 hemi convertibles were made. A tan 4spd was made for export to Canada and had a metric speedometer. This sublime was made for export to switzerland and also has a metric speedo. the 3rd car was made for USA and is unaccounted...dunno the color or tranny...rumor has it it burned and was crushed
I seen a brown 70 Hemi coronet R/T covert. in a magazine back in the 80s. It was unrestored had aftermarket rims and wavey bodywork. The article said it was the only one made for sale in the States.
@simonsroadrunner metric speedo didnt come to canada until the mid-70s an 1970 american car exported to canada would have the same speedo as in the u.s.
U guys need correction.....3 Hemi Coronet R/T convertibles were made. One was made for the USA and is unaccounted for. The Sublime one was originally an export car to Switzerland. Another was made for export to Canada and is painted tan on tan with a 4spd. as formerly showcased in Otis Chandler's collection.
@ugslamma Intelligent comment. This is a factory car in perfect condition. 1 of 3 made, I don't think that someone would race such a car... Oh and your brother's Stang would lose if it's stock...
Wouldn't it be nice, since we have the Challenger back, that Dodge would restyle this model aswell? The new Challenger is a HUGE hit as it has gained PLENTLY of attention. I think a restyled Coronet would be a nice addition to the new Dodge list!
I love the styling of the 1970 Coronets... that front end is just incredibly aggressive! The 1971 Plymouth Satellite/Road Runner/GTX lineup is another stunning front end design! And the best part is the HEMI hiding behind it! Mopar or Nocar baby!
