What I wanted to say is: the ending sound at 3:42 is the intro sound of the demo "Stars: Wonders of the World" by NoooN from 1995. (Music By Groo). Obviously the makers of the Unreal songs came right out of the demoscene :) (you can find it on youtube)
Older graphics bring back more precious memories to most of us. When we see newer candy revolving around eye candy, it's incredibly boring. Then we switch to something from circa 1990s and our minds orgasm. Music, playability, graphics and the memories we share with them will never repeat a second time.
@DaLooseGoose11 I concur! Newer games like Crysis make my eyes water, games like Unreal makes my heart water. Both beautiful in their own form, but IMO Unreal will always take the cake =P
When I am old and decrepit, sitting in my rocking chair..remniscing about my past, this song (along with the rest of the Unreal originals) will be floating through my head.
This may sound like typical techno style (which I don't like much) but this song has wonderful melody and harmonies (1:24) and drum complexity fits perfectly to Terraniux complexity. Alex Brandon did incredible job on this soundtracks.
Why epic games still didnt make remake of that game.THIS GAME IS EPIC AND AWESOME !!!!!.More games that s comes now should learn how developers must make great games like this one:(
I miss the days when the goal of making a game was to give gamers the best gaming experience, as opposed to making the most amount of money. The rational part of me can't fault companies for sticking to the generic formulas to make more money, but the little kid in me feels a bit cheated =(.
While newer games will inevitably have flashier graphics and more realistic physics, games like Unreal will still be among the best in my book for the awe they made me feel when I first played them.
AFAIR much in the gfx depends on your video card, there were cards on which game performed very well but lacked some effects like some skies and mirror-like-surfaces. and it has nothing to do with power of a video card, it just depends on type or producer or smth -_-
@TheLayawn Nowadays the music would just be some bland stock guitar smashing metal. Don't get me wrong, guitar smashing metal can be fun, but the music of Unreal 1 was something special. Really great stuff. Music in such games these days is very forgettable. (Well, with there are very few exceptions.)
Shit dude, one of the best games I ever have played - to this day. Brings a tear to my eye nowadays, can't believe that was so long ago. Me and my friends had a good time with Unreal/UT. Thousands of hours of my adolescent years invested into those games.
i know unreal had decent graphics and superb gameplay they even manage to own with the music too but nowadays they come with games with graphics and no substance
I've used emule (p2p). But now I know how to convert .umx files to .mp3. You can use ModPlug Player to convert .umx to .wav and then use any other converter to .mp3.
The .umx files contain all the music for the said lvl (bacground/fighting music/event music) you will only get the background music with some converters. (if you wonder why you're missing songs after the convert:) (there are goto marks in the .umx you can edit those out with some tracker progs then try converting them ^^)
Try ModPlug Player and you will see that you don't need anything. It can converts whole file with "background/fighting music/event music". Nightvision is little different because I didn't converted, but downloaded it.
@Tuthor will this make them the full length? Please reply because i recently used a converter thing and it made most of the ones frrom unreal and ut like 2 minutes.
I bought it for 3 euros. It's my fucking favourite FPS. Thanks for screenshots which bring back memories.

It's a shame that the mercenary's machine gun attack has a bad aim.
But still tough enemies, especially the robust one's.

Unless you got the game pretty late and had no 3D accelerating graphics card. :D
