@KLP2566 if you can show who is in charge while they are still young, why not, get a lot of training advise and read and be dilligent about it, this advise of course applied to all types of dogs. Rotties can become very big quick and can overpower a small person, just something to keep in mind.

Great looking Rottie, docking tails is purely owner preference, they look good both ways. All of the Rotties I had and the one I have now has his tail docked. One thing I found out was, I have never seen a Rottie in an AKC dog show with a tail, never could find out why Rotties with tails are never in dog shows, like AKC,Cruffs.

thats wild, your rotti's name is Samson aswell! i rescued mine just before he turned 1yr old nov 18th 09, it was already his name when i got him, such wonderful n goofy dogs i love them. very versatile dogs and yet gentle and clumsy at the same time. But the coolest thing i have taught my rotti, is to box; where he will stand up on his hind legs and throw punches, and i must say he has a mean right hook! He also love those toddler push things that have balls that pop inside, he pushes it all day

He's got his tail, awesome!! My Rotties were already docked when I got them, and I'm happy to see that more and more people are *not* docking their dogs' tails. It's such an important social signal for them.

@ajjohn1 And even though your rottie might be healthy, buying and breeding bob-tailed rottweilers is against every single right thing to do....it's a defect, and is VERY often followed by a horrible condition called Spina Bifida...google it and see.

Proper breeders want to see a complete ban on breeding bob-tailed rottweilers, since it causes so much harm to the dogs in so many cases and this dog SHOULD have a tail..no matter what some countries think.

@DeathToTheNation Thats not the reason they dock the tails. The tails are so thick and they wag them so much the playfull dogs that they are that they give them major hip problems. It is nice to see them with tails though

Your not supposed to crop their tails....its just tradition and style....with most litters the puppies tails are cropped and their dew claws are removed. Its actually start to become more popular to leave the tail on the dog
