  • The White Whale, Moby Dick.

  • excellent

  • Comment removed

  • just a thought, how much use to the pilot are you at 13.5knts center lead forward, you cant fall back, you cant steer him, you cant put a beam pull on so why the need to do it so fast?

  • WHAT IF THE BOAT SWALLOWED THEMMMM?!

  • can you please explain "taking line"? thanks

  • @angryadrien Watch "Tug trhes Part 2" and you will see them "taking lines"...

  • @rboos thanks

  • @angryadrien When a line is passed to another vessel, the boat on the receiving end of the throw is "taking the line".

  • @doughesson oh, ok. that makes sense...i had just never heard of it. thanks!

  • Did anyone think about the bit of the ship thats under the water hitting the props on the tug ??

they are nearly close enough to touch that bit

  • That huge ship transports Motor vehicles Im assuming??

  • is this an ugland ro-ro, ?

    thom

  • 6 knots is normal speed for making fast to a ship, anything over that and the tug would not be able to influence the ship unlessit was an escort tug on the stern of a ship.

  • 13 knts??? my ass!!!!, this is not more than 7!

  • someone told me that the guy who parks the ship on the seaport makes 150.000,00 a month...

don't know if that's really true, my brother told me hehe

    such a nice job

  • Perhaps 150.000,00 a year in a busy port somewhere else than here. I don't know the exact figures, but I'm quite sure that around here $150.000,00 is more than two year's salary before taxes for such job.

  • what is a big ship for

  • wow thats damn close!!

  • This is standard operating procedure? The ship's master allows this? I just don't believe it.

  • probably filming off the taxi boat. the taxi leads the big ships into port.

  • wow awesome filming but what if the engine of your ship fails?? your fucked

  • bloody hell u r so close 2 that ship. that is some good filming

  • Realmente impresionante.

  • that car ship has only one propeller and small, but it can hit 10 to 15 knots I think

  • this ship can do about 20 knts

normal harbour tugs do max 11 knts! , so 13 knots on the vid???? forget it , 7 knots aprox!

  • I've been on tugs as well, and i've never seen any Captain or Mate do this at the speed this was being done. I'd have to say its quite Dangerous. I've been on Mcallister, Moran, Turecamo and Eklof tugs and never seen anyone do that. I don't know of any tug even with 6,000+hp that can do over 13 knots, maybe the Invader class tug of Crowley that have 7,200hp. Anyway,If you lose your main engines, its over.

  • not very clever doin a centre lead ford at 13 kts.. but fair play if u can do it without gettin killed..

  • 13 kn? - very good speed for a harbour tug :> i've worked on a modern harbour tug with azimuth thrusters in combo with 2x 2500HP CATERPILLAR engines and it's maximum was 11. anyway looks impressive when this operation is being done at speed 13 knots and in front of this big vessel

  • well done you!

  • yes,as I can see,its probably soome tractor propulsion or what regearding the stern,I m I wright?

  • the car-carrier´s speed is 13.5 kn.

the tugboat is 30 years old, without azimutal propeller.

  • Whatş the speed of car carrier? Is the propulsion ASD?

  • I think this is not very safe/responsible to take lines at those speeds.....but whatever :)

  • I agree, but here this is the way to do this.

(you must think that that this video was recorded in the sunny mornig of a spring day. We do the same in the night, at 3am raining and with strong wind)
