  • lol, both the commercial and the system SUCKED.

  • Was I really alive at a time when things were this cheesy?

  • This commercial makes me sad. Not all of us had "dads" asshole.

  • Combat didn't HAVE a single-player option. But it was fun to play with siblings.

  • WTF!!!!

  • I just saw an Atari commercial starting Pete Rose and Pele. Now I see this crap? I guess they ran out of money

  • awwww harmless waterpainting

  • i don't get how this commercial is "frightening", it's awesome ! lol 'd rather watch these Atari ads than the ones they have today.

  • i played with his sister

  • I listened to this with my eyes closed. lmao

I love how it says anyone can hook it up, and it shows a dumb blond inserting the game in backwards (correct is label facing TV)

  • I disagree with everyone that says these were the good old days. I knew the atari sucked even back then. The "Good old days" didnt start for me until the NES.

  • @crashbfan23 sega motha fuckin master system bitch

  • @crashbfan23 no nes sucks, sega and atari rules!

  • @shairaptor I had a Sega Genesis and an NES growing up so I was a fan of both

  • @crashbfan23 I agree! Those days always had me hoping for better games, but I never imagined we would have what we have "these days". I wonder what the future will bring that make today's games seem primitive?

  • the music reminds me of the "only Amiga makes it possible" commercials.

  • any one can get hooked like YOUR MOM!!!!!!!

    worst line ever

no pun intended...i fell like an idiot now

  • Oh my god, awesome graphics!!! when is it coming??!!!

  • "Did your mom always..."

  • Atari seems to make people so happy !! I want Atari !!

  • You play Atari

  • Man these were the days ,we thought we was jamming with TV tennis the this now look ware it is all evolved.. Thumbs up

  • Hell, it's still better than those traumatizing Do the Math commercials

  • they were putting the game in backwards

  • I could and did play astroides for howers get like 49 ships

  • What a cheesy ass commerical.

  • Where's Disney when you need it ?

  • No, I played Coleco, losers!

  • @WebVMan NO, I played NES, you loser

  • I have a feeling this isn't a real commercial, but a mock-up using storyboards.

  • I'm gay and proud of it! =)

  • Atari: Now your playing with Incest.

  • moms got mint titties .. get in that

  • I'm gonna auto-tune this

  • no i havent

  • Atari sucks anyway.

    Commodore for the win.

  • @snake2006 Commodore Sucks Colecovision For the win.

  • @SanchatheExalted

Commodore 64 is a billion times better than colecovision ever was.

Colecovision lasted what 2 years on the market.

Commodore 64 lasted 10 years and could do things Colecovision could NEVER HOPE TO DO.

  • @snake2006 Commodore and colecovision suck atari for the win!The Atari lasted 14 years so commodore and colecovision got their asses kicked

  • @KilleRotom

Who STILL has the top selling Computer of all time?

Explain that to me. It sure as hell wasn't anything by ATARI.

    It is the COMMODORE 64.

It lasted from 1982 to 1994 commercially and is still having commercial games written for it even today.

Atari has got nothing on the Commodore 64. It was thanks to the C64 which helped kill your precious 2600.

  • @snake2006 LOL people still make atari games today they even made halo for the atari 2600 so STFU commodore sucks atari rules

  • @KilleRotom

Commodore was better than, it's better now.

Deal with it and move on.

  • @snake2006 No way most of the people I know remember the atari and not your shitty Cuntodore

  • @KilleRotom

Tell that to the people who still use them today.

  • @snake2006

I remember both Atari and Commodore.

First, the C64 was quite a computer ... until its specs and inability to upgrade the hardware made it suitable only for gaming and not much else. Plus, there were other things to look forward to shortly after C64, like Amiga.

As for the 2600, the C64 was a factor. But if the C64 hadn't come out, the 2600 still would've sunk from the Atari vs. Activision debacle and Atari's own missteps stemming from Mr. Bushnell's sale of his company to Warner.

  • @Watcher3223

Unable to upgrade the hardware, well then you don't know the C64. Ever hear of the Super CPU which put it up to 33mhz, you could add Jiffydos which helped with load times and with the disc commands.

Plus you could upgrade the ram with carts that plugged into the back of the computer.

Sure the Amiga was better and we should have Amiga's TODAY not shit windows or crappy macs.

  • Another thing to think about: Commodore and Atari are somewhat intertwined.

Why? Jack Tramiel founded and ran Commodore until his ouster shortly after the success of the C64.

Jack Tramiel later bought Atari from Warner Communications, running it with the intention to beat Commodore at their own game in the home computer market, allowing Atari's home video game operations to languish.

Another point: the 2600 ran on MOS (6507 CPU). MOS became a division of Commodore in the late 70's.

  • I played Atari yesterday, does that count?

  • You know, the father, the friend, and the mother all have something happening in the commercial. The dad get's shown tha way(left or right I dunno) the friend plays on a rainy day and the mom misses. but the sis. NOTHING!

  • i want an atari 2600 but there like 60 dollars. any1 selling them cheap?

  • @mardfet 60 bucks? wtf, I can get a dreamcast for less

  • Does anyone remember Atari Age?

  • @level242 atariage (dot)com

  • @burr1aj No,I meant the Atari 2600 fan club that they had in the 1980's.I think it was $12 to join.Atari sent a fan club magazine called Atari Age that had video game trivia, coupons for your next purchase and technical writing about up coming coin-operated and home games. If you go to old school video game conventions some vendors sell them.Thats another thing I miss about the 70's and 80's;there are no more fan club magazines its all on the web.

  • "It's so east anyone can hook it up" and it has a picture of the girl doing it. Ah good old-fashioned sexism is hilarious.

  • Parents don't even bother with video games anymore.

  • Have you played Atari today?

Yes I did I played Space Invaders my favorite Game.

  • 00:25

EPIC FAIL! the cart is backwards!

  • "Did you play with your Dad, did you show him the way?

Did you play with your sis?

    Did your Mom always miss?"

Atari - Have you played with Incest today?

  • Epic win.

  • ROFL

  • @Nintendavin lol!!!!!!!!!!!!man that is so damn funny i have tears coming out of my eyes!!!!

  • @Nintendavin

Naw... People these days just have dirtier minds and are way more cynical, but then again, I would have poked fun of these 'family' commercials back then because growing up in my family was a living hell and the family aspect of this would have came across as BS to me.

  • Actually yes, I did play Atari today. Missile Command and Battlezone to be exact.

  • Gay and naive commercial

  • hawe YOU played on atari today?????????

  • My dad is the one who introduced me to atgari (the 2600) in 1982.

Frogger. It was the only cartridge he had and the only one I played for a whole month. Funny how it held my attention for so long but modern games can barely last me a week.

  • what an asshole. one game?

  • You sound like that little brat on the Simpsons that wants his mum to buy two copies of Bonestorm because he doesn't want to share with his sister.

  • this is back when games like this acutely gave kids epileptic seizures

  • The good old days.

  • man man man man

    This is a real thing.

  • She'd be enjoying that game a lot more if she hadn't put the game in upside-down.

  • atari was too cheap in advertising

  • That's silly! Mom's can't hook up Ataris!!! :-D

  • This looks like an "animatic" for a planned commercial that would have been completed with live actors.

This was the 1980s, before every single thing was themed on sex. It's so sad now that tall people can think of is incest and child rape.

  • Di you play with your sister today . o.o

wtf did they teach back then?!

  • Despite the 2600 being past my gen (I was born in 1981, so I was too young for Atari at it's height), this still brings a tear simply because gaming was so simplistic and yet even today allot of those same games can still hold my attention for hours.

  • there were freaking porno games on the atari.

  • i wish there was a commercial for those games.

  • No you don't, and they were hard to get anyway.

  • IIRC, one of them was called 'Custer's Revenge', in which General Custer rapes a Native American woman-and they say today's games are sick? The PS2 NEVER came up with this, nor did the N64, Game Cube, PS1, or any other modern system.

  • atari either came up with it... its not like u can produce unlicenced games today like back then. besides its not like u can bang a girl in gta ? shoot the shit out people? ever played dead or alive??? man theirs more sex in todays games then in any atari game. u make no sence dude. think about it.

  • lol did your mom always miss ^_^ mine does

  • The Atari 2600 is the greatest system ever made, not because of it's games but because it lasted for so long, I mean people were still buying 2600s when the SNES was at it's height.

  • Sorry to burst your bouble but the nes is the greatest. Number don't lie. ; )

  • Sorry to burst YOUR bubble but the greatest according to numbers is the PS2.

  • sorry to burst your buble but ps2 sucks ass nes and atari are far better then that shit box.

  • That is only a matter of opinion. PS2 is the most sold console ever. That is a fact.

  • the ps2 is a piece of junk, go home

  • @

    stilleavy

How about you do a Google search for most sold game console of all time and see what you come up with? I love ignorant people get when it comes to facts and opinions. Is the PS2 the best in my opinion? Hell no lol. Is it the most sold? Yep.

  • This ad is creepy. I think that they should have done it differently so it doesn't sound like you are playing with someone (in a sexual way).

  • Someone had to say it. =P

  • Good Memories......ahhhh.....I LOVED the 2600....remember the game "Indy 500" that had special "paddle" style controllers that were basically rotary encoders?

    Britt Sandusky Rulez!

  • HAVE YOU PLAYED ATARI TODAY?

  • No, but I used to play with my Atari Lynx, does that count?

  • @deVall3y uhhh, no
