@deederdude That's because this is when Axe FIRST joined, he had to sort of learn and play at the same time, he didn't know every Opeth song at the time. This is 2005, and in 2005, Ghost Reveries had just come out, WITH Martin drumming. So it was an amazing feat for Axe.
@deederdude This is actually one of the good takes. I heard both their live gigs 2003 & 2006 in Hultsfred and it sounded quite shitty - absolutely no where near the studio version which is splendid!
Opeth is the only band who can play deliverance and have it sound as good as the original...in other words...they cover themselves and sound better at the same time. haha
Ok, what the hell, you cut out the solo at 4:00 in? Seriously, IMO, that's the best solo in the song. It's so harmonic, but at the same time, fucking awesome. I'm really disappointed...
If you came to this video and have never heard OPETH before....you are witnessing one of the best bands in the heavy music...One of their best songs.....TRULY EPIC!
Mike has one of the most unique and amazing voices I have ever heard. His calm, relaxing, almost hypnotic clean singing, then just tears into the sickest, darkest growl I have ever heard.
One of the greates intros and outros ever. Opeth are truly excellent at what they do. And for the new drummer i don't find him bad just dont find as good as Lopez, dont know he will do at a new opeth album we will see, but in my opinion Opeth got alot worse after lopes quit.
@Bjabja axe is a better drummer than lopez, technically, maybe lopez has a better sense of when to hold back and pace himself, but even then both mendez and mikael think they have their best lineup ever. Watershed was an amazing fucking record.
@papavb cant agree, lopez had to much style and creativity that axe doesn't use on the new album, and the songs played by both drummers live, lopez has been playing them much cleaner and tighter.
I'd say the new drummer is good, but Martin Lopez was awesome. Just look at the drum footage of Lamentations, unbelievable emotion comes from that man. Sad he had to leave.

Even though the uploader's nickname is 'stefanobass' I'm absolutely sure he is a drummer, or else he would have taped the solo.
