the Panantukan Yawyan and sikaran are the few of the other martial arts of the phillipines. I am proud to be pinoy in fact i am so proud i could just cry...... I cant believe i left that beautiful country but i will come back....
I just saw this docu a few hours ago. Wow! Totally worth watching. And to those who decry that Escrima/Kali/Arnis is useless in real street fighting, well... as the movie verified, Escrima WAS and IS still used in the mean streets of the Philippines. Juego Todo they call it, death matches. No rules, just skill.
nice and great movie.my father was shock at the end of the movie, there was an old picture of my grandfather and his mates,my father was really surprise wondering where did they get the picture.mabuhay eskrimadors.! it inspires my father to teach arnis again.ty for this great movie.arnis will never fade.

@miongwulong in my opinion,UFC foccuses on points and things like that .but!when you say escrima it is more likely on killing someone, you know ,hitting the pressure points break the bones break the head and is more on dirty fighting,because!,..it is escrima! the art of surviving and killing.why do you think they only use the the sticks in sports.see my point?
CHALLENGE FROM DOCE PARES CLUB VS SAN MIGUEL ESCRIMA CLUB
DIONISIO CANETE VS DACAYANA ALBERTO SR
PERCIVAL POBLEO VS CLAUDIO MAURELLI
"Dionisio and his student Pobleo Must respond within one week of interview or M Claudio warn all masters of every federations of escrima kali arnis in the World of Escape from yet another Challenge of two gentlemen"
@bowow0807 You can probably get it on Amazon. I actually saw it on 5/29, it was really good. My GM(Sipin) was on their being interviewed....It was very a really good documentary on our fighting style, & the origin of Doce Pares.
who said theyre not allowed to join mma? they can if they want, but mma is a sport, you cannot use dumog in mma, because it obviously involves eye gouging, biting, scraping, nailing the balls and dirty street fighting.. till the day ma allows all that then your better off seeing an fma fighter in the streets then you would in a tournament meant for trophys and profit.
alot of them have been to jail, alot of them still are , and some of them are able to get away from the law... tatang illustrisio is one. law in the phils is not the same in the usa.
miong, you obviously dont have first hand experience in actual fighting that concerns your life. its easy to say things like "control your strikes without killing someone" in the comfort of your home because youve not been in an encounter that involves someone trying to send you to an early grave. believe me ,in survival and combat no one wants to kill another person more so in eskrima but they are trained to do so when it gets really ugly. and not all martial arts share your philosop[hy.
your condescending remarks against eskrima is that of a shallow child who grew up on too much ufc, Any true eskrima fighter would hold his place on the street and on a street fight level. heck you can even go toe to toe with a wekaf fighter and he would give you a definite taste of the live hand your talking about.
real fighting doesnt look pretty. its about survival..period.
if you have enough logic by now you would know a couple of things, eskrima or Fma is not for sport. and that it has been proved in combat for hundreds of years. if you have a tournament that allows streetfighting tactics then im sure you would not run out of eskrima contestants, if your talking about safe mma fightng then thats another story. FMA is about survival not safe sports.
i see. i understand where you're coming from. yes, there are some systems who just bash each other when it comes to sparring. but not all. there are some systems who actually advocate trapping, blindsiding, pushing and grabbing (i've seen most of these done in WEKAF style). Not all eskrima systems shellout BS 'migo. Some are actually worth their weight in gold. As for the empty hand, may i suggest checking out "panantukan and friends" vid. i think it showed a practical usage of the empty hand.
e bakit wala pa akong nakikitang K1 or MMA player na nakipag juego todo sa isang eskrimador? just because a person is good in MMA or K1 doesn't mean he/she is also good with weapons as well and vice versa...to each his own. i believe that empty hand artists have their advantage in that field. after all, it's their specialization. but that does not mean eskrimadors cannot fend for themselves. the only difference is that MMAers (pardon the word) follow ring rules. eskrimadors follow street rules.
i agree, it IS possible not kill someone. but that is not the very essence of all martial arts. Arts like eskrima, krav maga and systema to name a few, would disagree. i may have been wrong with my previous comment. i would like to acknowledge the presence of eskrima in the system of our Yawyan bretheren. alam ko kasali sa training nila but the extent of influence to their empty hand techniques is something i am not sure of.
because mma fights have rules. eskrimadors don't fight fairly. in combat, there are no rules. only survival. BUT if eye gouging, groin busting, small joint manipulation and other "combatives" are allowed, then baka meron...
Top class, good to see many of the Manongs I have trained with get good coverage like this. I know this is going to be the best Documentary yet. Cant wait and great job

MMA tournament is not for survival, it is for defending one pride without getting killed.
kahit nga NPA arnis ang training nila sa H2H combat.

fma teaches to survive and to kill then most martial arts.
you dont learn this mindset in judo or jiujitsu or muay thai or mma.
the reason behind is because in the phils life is cheap.

It's sad one day Eskrima will end up in tournaments just like the UFC only for money and not keeping the culture alive.
