I install propane systems and I can tell you what happened. Chevy has the same problem when you put a mixer on the front of the intake and fill the intake manifold full of fuel/air mix. The intake wasnt designed to have that in it so there was no provision to keep static electricity out. When you get a spark in the intake it blowes up. When these cars are from the factory with propane it is port injection. You could run a set of impco 100's like hilborn injection and it would work.
The Ford Crown Victoria is one of the recent last best cars Ford has made (other than the SuperDuty & the Econoline van). This is s modified system that was neglected, not Fords fault at all.
What do you expect if you convert your car to propane from gasoline? I've had PLENTY of problems with GM vehicles in the past, and at least FORD didn't need a government bailout recently. If you do that to ANY vehicle, not just Ford you will have this problem.

I'm assuming part of the problem to be the crappy nylon/plastic intake manifold that has to be included in any proper denigration of the Ford Motor Company. @tatortheoxford67 not even close, you can run any petrol engine perfectly on propane - i've done about 100,000 miles on it with no issues at all. The propane conversion on this car is a redneck lash up, which is why the car runs like crap. a decent propane injection system runs 100% the same as on petrol.
Had a 2002 Impala have the same thing happen. It was a former taxi from Boston and, as one poster said, its the maintenance that makes the difference. The 3.8 in the Impala should have gotten 200,000 miles on it. The intake cracked at 123,000 because the owner before me let it sit through the winter with just water in the rad. When we started it in the spring the rad had to go and we figured all was well until that cat plugged. Just like your Vic.

I have 96 crown vic. gas fired. make sure to check the intake maniold for cracks. Dang intake is made of plastic! Check on the internet about it it may of been replaced. If it has it will be metal up front were the alternator mounts which is also a cracking spot. I know this all to well I have an old retired police cruiser and it has the 302 motor. The motor is strong when it is in good condition. Well just thought I would let you know and glad your back.
imy guess is that you are correct on the liquid lp puddling in the intake and causing the hole...the diaphram you had in your hand from the mixer..they are easily damaged from backfires....love your videos......you live anywhere near Port Franks Ontario?
you were close on the description of the lp regulator (also called a "vaporizer"). The engine coolant going to the vaporizer doesnt exactly change the liquid lp to a gas.....the vaporizer allows the liquid lp to expand and that vaporizes it....this action makes the vaporizer extremely cold....the engine coolant actually warms the vaporizer to keep it from freezing up...you can see this in action on lots of lp fueled equiptment...when they freeze up, the vehicle will die.
Dual Fuel aint uncommon here In Australia 1 out of 5 vehicles are running Dueal Fuel - starts on unleaded petrol then once you go to take off it Blips over to LPG (liquid Petrolium Gas) automatically as currant Petrol Prices are 145.9 cents per litre ($1.45 per litre for those of you who cant understand the Original English From England and LPG is 55.9 cents per litre Plus we have some post 2008 vehicles which are LPG Only from factory, LPG wont work efficiantly if it aint setup correctly

So Dave even in the winter, if your propane car is full of antifreeze that antifreeze is still cold at start-up unless you have a block heater, and even a block heater is not going to keep the antifreeze at 180 degrees. So every cold winter mourning your propane car is going to run like pos until it gets up to running temp?
I think Ford's are okay, but I would rather change out a broken tranny in a Dodge every 100,000 miles than lift up an f350's cab for rear engine service.

No fail mate, i worked for them for years! Since Ford took over in 1999 the Volvo brand has suffered greatly in build quality + reliability. The old classics are true Volvo + beat Ford hands down! I still have my old 1990 740GLE, no rust + reliable as hell! Salty roads no problem! I've seen 3 year old Fords with rust on the doors, so THAT'S a fail in my opinion! :)

imy guess is that you are correct on the liquid lp puddling in the intake and causing the hole...the diaphram you had in your hand from the mixer..they are easily damaged from backfires....love your videos......you live anywhere near Port Franks Ontario?

you were close on the description of the lp regulator (also called a "vaporizer"). The engine coolant going to the vaporizer doesnt exactly change the liquid lp to a gas.....the vaporizer allows the liquid lp to expand and that vaporizes it....this action makes the vaporizer extremely cold....the engine coolant actually warms the vaporizer to keep it from freezing up...you can see this in action on lots of lp fueled equiptment...when they freeze up, the vehicle will die.

Dual Fuel aint uncommon here In Australia 1 out of 5 vehicles are running Dueal Fuel - starts on unleaded petrol then once you go to take off it Blips over to LPG (liquid Petrolium Gas) automatically as currant Petrol Prices are 145.9 cents per litre ($1.45 per litre for those of you who cant understand the Original English From England and LPG is 55.9 cents per litre Plus we have some post 2008 vehicles which are LPG Only from factory, LPG wont work efficiantly if it aint setup correctly

it has a 4.6 and take a look there is an issus with the intake and because ik for a fact i have an 1998 mustang gt 4.6 and ive hadda replace it 2 times

@99gpse the only reason deloreans dont have parts made in china is beacuse they are still using the original parts from way back when the.company shut.down but as with any car manufacturer it dosent matter.how well the build quality is if you dont take care of it it wont last

@JimmyRayhere either the gas tanks were removed, had leaks, in tank fuel sender was busted just outside or inside the tank. Would you spend $300+ on a free farm car to be able to drive it or use a 5 gallon bucket for free?

So Dave even in the winter, if your propane car is full of antifreeze that antifreeze is still cold at start-up unless you have a block heater, and even a block heater is not going to keep the antifreeze at 180 degrees. So every cold winter mourning your propane car is going to run like pos until it gets up to running temp?

make sure you check the regulator diaphragm as well if you havent already. The split if there is not enough antifreeze

No fail mate, i worked for them for years! Since Ford took over in 1999 the Volvo brand has suffered greatly in build quality + reliability. The old classics are true Volvo + beat Ford hands down! I still have my old 1990 740GLE, no rust + reliable as hell! Salty roads no problem! I've seen 3 year old Fords with rust on the doors, so THAT'S a fail in my opinion! :)
