That's because Gakupo was created with the intent of singing in english. It's part of his programing.

Miku on the other hand, was created strictly for japanese.

Gakupo isn't supposed to be bilingual. He sings better than every other vocaloid because it's Gackt's voice. Although Gackt's speaks perfect English, somehow they didn't make Gakupo fluent in English, I don't know why :|

Is there a tutorial anywhere teaching how to make the vocaloid sound in english?

for example, how do you make the S in Christmas sound like an S by itself? (instead of SU)

or the P in "it doesn't surprise me", if I tried doing that with miku it would sound like "saPUraizu mi"

If you listen well you can also hear that I use 'su' as well in making him say non-consonant s sounds, but I make the su sounds as short as possible. Sometimes even zooming in to the note and making it 1/64 note length long...

He did do it pretty well, but not surprisingly, the guy his voice sample came from (the godly and almighty Gackt, duh) is much better at it. And his singing is so beautiful...*swoons* Like in Last Secret Garden, or Returner...But Gakupo is definitely in the same league, and who doesn't love Vocaloids anyway? XD Awesome song choices, too!
